No, the two are separate entities.

Anyone play in this room, and the Hollywood Hard Rock as well? Can you compare the 2 poker rooms, which is more popular, and which do you like better and why?

Actually it was about $376k; that larger number shows on the screen now also as the total of the BBJ and the two backup jackpots.

It happened just a little after midnight on a 1/2NL game. I think it was quad Js v 10s.

The new BBJ is around 90k.

Deeper pockets and stacks for 1/2NL in Hollywood. All of Tampa 2/5 are $1000 max whereas in Hollywoid that's a deep stack high stakes game, normal is $600 cap at 2/5. Tables/felt and are nicer in Tampa and room layout is simpler in Tampa as well. High hand promo in Hollywood gives you higher likelihood of getting rake back. Tampa only takes $1 for Promo afaik but Hollywood takes $2. Popularity-wise Tampa is only show in town with derby lane across town. Hollywood there are multiple options with almost as many tables nearby. But I consistently hear people say they still prefer the rock in Hollywood cuz of amenities and clubs that HR Hollywood offers.

I have only played at Hollywood HR sporadically, play in Tampa mostly. A couple of things to add to Shane's comments...

First there are a significant # of latino/hispanic/Spanish speaking people playing in Hollywood (way more than Tampa HR) which should be obv. due to the close proximity to Miami,

Second imo there are more casual players who have deep pockets in Hollywood i.e. businessmen/professionals/business owners who live in or travel to Miami/Ft. Lauderdale,

Hollywood HR seem to have better promos for grinders/regs although someone who is a reg there should be able to confirm this, Tampa HR promos pretty much suck but there is a BBJ (if you like lottery type odds!),

Tampa HR doesn't need to work real hard to win players' business (and they pretty much don't, lol) as they have a near monopoly (couple of tracks in Tampa but not really worth it if you are looking to table select and Derby Lane in St. Pete like Shane mentioned but they are better known for tournaments) whereas Hollywood HR seems to have a more proactive management style (their room manager even responds to players in their thread on 2P2, the only time Tampa HR management has posted ITT was to promote their WPT events) and treats players better although it would be best if a Hollywood reg would confirm this,

In terms of the actual physical aspect of the poker rooms imo Tampa HR is better, others may disagree,

Tampa HR probably gets more traffic because it is a larger room with significantly less local competition for player traffic v. Hollywood HR which has some tough competition for players...although Tampa HR has more traffic it is heavily reg infested (not necessarily quality regs although there are a few, most are weak/tight or old man coffee rocks) during the week with your typical wilder weekend games with all types of casual players, I haven't played in Hollywood enough to say what type of traffic it gets during the week, can a Hollywood HR reg comment on this?

If you were looking to play regularly in Tampa or SE Florida, I would say overall SE Florida is better due to having good competition and a larger player pool overall (Miami/Ft. Lauderdale and surrounding areas dwarf Tampa Bay) but if you were just looking at Tampa HR v. Hollywood HR imo Tampa may have a slight edge although I'm sure you'll get different opinions here.

Good luck!

Haven't seen much PLO lately. When it does go, it's usually 1/2 with 5 on the button, and most will buy in for $100-$300 (it's $500 max). Sometimes on Saturday night there will be a 2/5. Best bet is weekend nights, but I'd check Bravo ahead of time for a list.

When I saw that tourney I was hoping THR would offer satties into it like they did for the first big WPT in Hollywood. As I recall, you could earn an entry each week into a sattie that gave at least 1 seat into the main event. I cant remember the number of hours needed in a week; I think it was 20.

But then again, they never offered that again, so who knows what they will do.

They made a bunch of changes to the tournament schedule as well. A better choice of tournaments, imo. Note though that they didn't change Day 2 to 60-minute levels. It's still 40-minute levels except the Final Table is 60-minute levels (same as last time).

They did change Level 3 of the blinds structure from $100/$200/$0 to $75/$100/$25. This actually makes the structure slightly faster.

Here are all the tournaments, as run through my Tournament Comparison Calculator (Version 2.0 - a lot more advanced than the previous version that I sent to a few people here). The columns are Event Name, Total Buy-In, Starting Chips, Blinds Length, # Players (my guesses - please let me know corrections from past experience), Total Costs , and Tournament Value.

Event 1 $20KG $220.00 10,000 30 300 24% 16.67
Event 2 Turbo $10KG $190.00 10,000 15 150 25% 6.45

I'm really just guessing on the total # of players for each tournament. Please let me know if I should make any changes, based on past series turnout. Changes will affect the comparison numbers a bit.

Total Costs is how much you pay for house fees and dealer tips, as a percent of the Total Buy-In, taking into account additional tipping you would do if you get in the money. I avoid tournaments that are 20% or more.

Tournament Value is the number for comparison of the bang for your buck for each tournament. It takes into account the blinds structure, buy-in, fees, tips, number of players, etc. The number isn't a percent - it's just a comparative value. I avoid tournaments that are less than 25, for the most part.

PokerXanadu - thanks for that info. Can you translate the "tournament value" figure to a practical explanation? I only play cash games. I'll probably play one or two of events 7, 15, and 16.

I've never played a bounty tournament. How does everyone feel about those? Any tips?

I'm not sure what you asking for as I thought that is what I did with this:

More starting chips = bigger value.
Longer blind levels = bigger value.
Better blinds structure = bigger value.
Higher house fees = smaller value.
Bigger percent of the total entry cost going to fees and tips = smaller value.
More players = bigger value.

Pick out the tournaments which interest you and then compare the Value for each to figure out which one is the best value for the money, higher number is better.

Best choices are 3 and 13. Second tier are 7, 15 & 16. Here they are, sorted best to worst:

Event 13 ME $250KG 20,000 40 250 $1,500.00 13% 95.46
Event 3 $150KG 15,000 30 500 $515.00 14% 46.22

On that page, click on Download Structure to see the actual tournament structure and rules. In the fine print at the bottom of the structure, it says "Final Table" rather than "Final Day" for 60-minute levels. This is consistent with the previous ME tournaments, so I'm pretty sure it's a mistake that it says "Final Day" on the web page.

I would prefer that it is the final day at 60 minutes, not just the final table as it has been in the past. I will be there next week and will ask for clarification. If anyone is there this weekend and has the oppurtunity to ask, that would be great.
