Here is a rendition of their hotel expansion plans from 2009:

http://www.tampabay.com/news/busines...ng-deal/973279

It might include converting some of the South Garage into gaming space for poker, etc.

Thanks for digging that up.With the meeting space, the could/would hold multi week Tournaments in there.I did have someone tell me the new room would be reduced to 40 tables, which makes more sense with the meeting space.

I wonder if you will be able to hear the cars on the 2d floor driving around and honking their horns like in a regular parking garage bottom floor.

That was the fist thing that came to mind for me.

Speaking of foresight. The Legislative Session is January 12- March 11 for 2016.Assuming the Compact gets the green, the new Poker Room should happen next year.

There's just something creepy about the idea of being in the bottom of a parking garage. Not that it happens very often, but it seems to me I've read about a lot more parking garages collapsing onto the bottom than hotels. Just sayin'

Thank you for saying something. They are so blatant about it. At least be a little discreet about it if you must do it. 1 kid probably table changes 10 times a night. It's 1 thing to casually walk around tables but to constantly be lurking is ridiculous. It makes everyone feel uncomfortable that you're just standing over someone staring for a minute at a time and not saying a word. GTFO.

The same people constantly walk up to a table, look around, watch a hand, and scurry back to there seats or to the podium to table change.

i think the big problem is that the floors and dealers allow players to seat themselves. there are people waiting to transfer to a table patiently and they get screwed because the floor wants to avoid confrontation and they just give the seat to the player that sat themselves. same thing if you get sent to a table by the podium but some player sat themself first.

bum hunting would be a lot easier to take if players had to go through the floor and get on a list to move.

no one should be taking a seat without the floor giving a nod to the dealer that it's ok. its my biggest peeve about this room.

I'm not a fan of it either, but when in rome...

I played earlier today and decided to table change after my once amazing game became a rock fest. I put myself on the wait list and proceeded to see several people table change that I knew weren't on the list because I saw I was the next on the table change list. So I said to hell with it and found another table.

+1.Anyone caught not following the rules should be asked to leave for the day. That would fix that problem quickly.

I didn't realize they weren't even going through the floor. Seems funny to me to see bumhunters buying in for $300 at $2/$5 or playing 35/5 preflop. Wouldn't you want get your game to at least above average old man coffee level first?

A little table selection is obviously fine. I do one or two laps at the beginning while I'm waiting for a seat. Mostly trying to avoid tables full of short stacks or young kids who seem quiet/serious and tank a lot rather than find my one magical fish. My usual room only has 1-2 2-5s and I know most of the regs already so I don't need to.

The tightest game I've played all year was in this room, but 3/4 other trips the game I ended up in was really good.

Ideally we have a room right on the main floor that will attract more gambly types a la the old room where the high-limit slots are now placed.
We can always dream, not going to happen...

Everything the Indians do is thoroughly planned, the location of the current room is very strategic and the new room will be more of the same.

Down a long hallway, away from slots and pit games is intentional. They don't want their bread and butter "wandering" into the poker room and dumping cash into other players' pockets, they want them dumping it into slots and pits.

They do prefer poker players wandering out to the main floor though.

Oh I know poker is the red headed stepchild of this (and any) casino not in LA.

What's worrying is the potential migration of whales who will leave poker for the pit once regular craps and roulette are introduced.

Would 100% bet that "kid" has one of the highest authentic winrates in Tampa. Rofl @ subhumans trying to discuss etiquette. There is no need to explain yourself to others, especially not for something as petty as table hopping. Are we in preschool? Do people have to ask you for permission to use the restroom to? Nothing wrong with leaving a table without saying a word. If anything the real issue that needs to be addressed are the scumbag ratholers who snap hit and run after winning a big pot then show up at another table with their min buyin. Justice demands retribution.

I don't really care about people who change tables often as long as they do it through the brushes so that they aren't jumping people already on the transfer list. The changers I don't like are the ones who put their stack down at your table, and then immediately leave to scope out other tables. They are gone for 10 minutes, then come back and pick up their stack without playing a hand. I think that's rude, to tie up a seat like that without having any intention of playing at that table.

absolutely this.

very few of us are upset at table changes occurring at all. i table change. you need to do it through the brushes. and more importantly, the floor and dealers need to be enforcing it.

I cannot stand when a dealer lets a regular just jump the line and grab an open seat at a table - happens all the time when I'm playing... and the dealer usually acts all cute (guy or girl no difference) pretending like "oh you're next on the list right?? - oh cool yes you can have that seat" - meanwhile they just jumped the entire line and I now have a regular at my table instead of the next fish in line on a weekend night. And... maybe they purposely wanted my table because the only seat open was directly to my left and they know I'm aggressive. I'm so sick of dealers playing favorites and not running games per the rules - if it's not one thing it's something else. I feel like I'm constantly having to speak up so that the rules of the game are followed. They're all small issues - but for some reason in Florida it's like if it's only a small rule no one seems to care.

Tough for the floor and dealers to enforce something when they are part of the problem with how lax they are when it comes to the rules of the game they are paid to deal. And don't get me wrong, there are some great dealers at the hard rock - but in general most are lacking in the way they take responsibility for running their games per the actual rules, big or small.

If it's a player who won't be good for the game (winning player, nit, short stacker, etc.) I say something, and have no problem with it whatsoever. I think when most people see this happen at their table, they let it go because they don't want to look like the little kid in class who's a tattletale. The reality is when you're playing for profit, another player breaking this rule can affect your bottom line. When your money is involved, you have every right to (politely) say something.

Now on the other hand, if the offending player will be good for the game... welcome to the table, sir!

From a guy who plays Florida a couple times a year, and all over the USA in general: this is one of the problems Florida poker has, dealers and staff that are wayyyyy too chummy with local patrons, and hence have less a penchant for ALL the rules. Why have rules then. We tourists do notice.
And I've brought this up prior, in other threads as well, and it gets poo-pooed by a lot of regs and locals. Ok, and pretty soon, you have a large, chaotic poker room. Or, you can strive for a large, well-run room, like Isle Pompano, Mohegan, Bicycle, MaryLive, Aria.....

I grabbed a floor one time when the dealer let someone slide in and the dealer acted like they had actually thought they were first on the list, until the player said his name and it was revealed he wasn't on the list at all. Dealer just acted like the player told them they were on the top of the waiting list.

Think about that for a moment...

...While seemingly innocent - the dealer is lying to their boss to cover up their actions of working with a player to secure a seat that is not theirs. It wasn't anything more serious than just trying to hook up a regular - but think about the premise of dealers just white lying to their bosses when they break the rules for regulars as long as it's 'not a big deal'. And it's such a common occurrence that it isn't even noticed or cared about by anyone. I made my point, scoffed at them, and then let it go. I have my guard up 24-7 in the rooms around here - dealers take care of the players they know and there are constant angles being run everywhere.
