I won a high hand jackpot a few years ago and was 1099'd. I reported it as a W2G on my taxes. If I ever get audited we will know the true answer.

it SHOULD be a W2G. it also shouldn't be recorded for any wins under $600. however this past tax year i received a 1099MISC for two $500 high hands i won. making it very difficult to count any losses against it without looking uber-suspicious.

come on hard rock. just use the right forms, not the easiest.

Turns out the high hand isn't "every half hour everyday in March" as the promo flyer says. They stopped it at midnight last night and will start it up again at noon on Friday. I asked a supervisor about it, and she agreed it didn't make sense and sent an email to the big boss, but another one told me that the plan all along was to have that break, and that they think it was marketing that misread the flyer and came up with the 24/7 verbiage. Oh well.

This all came up because at my table between midnight and 12:30am two people hit quads. Throughout the night some dealers were calling for a supervisor for high hands thinking it was on, and others didn't.

What table was this on?

Isn't that false advertising? I recently visited and remember them talking about how it was EVERY half hour in March; pretty sure they even had a poster advertising it, as well as the flyers. I remember back when an online site forgot to take a promo off of their website for getting paid for a royal; they didn't want to pay it when I hit, but it's false advertising if they don't.

So what if it is? As a sovereign Indian nation, they aren't subject to law and punishment under federal or state laws regarding advertising.

I was under the impression it was 24/7 but certain times $400 and others $200. Either way, they are terrible because there is over $500,000 in the bad beat fund. I went 2 days apart when they were running $400 every half hour last month and the fund grew by $17k over those two days even with running the promotion.

They are going to drain the fund with very high dollar tourny entries. So if they give away a $1200 ticket, $150 of it goes back to the house as part of the tourny entry so they will essentially steal back 10% of the jackpot fund.

They are all about the same really, but this describes the shortest walk, although you have to use the garage stairway instead of the elevator and you have to walk mostly outside:

For the past few weeks 5/5 PLO usually gets going on Mondays in the early evenings and there has been 2 tables running typically later (9+ pm) at night. The 5/5 Monday games have actually been good even although the herd is playing elsewhere. Right now Bravo is showing 8 on the list for 5/5 PLO so that game should run.

Bravo is currently showing a 5/10 NL table with a 3 deep waiting list, 5/10 NL on Mondays seems to be sporadic.

It's bewildering that anyone actually chooses to play at Lucky's.

People just go where the action is. if some "fun players" decide to go to luckys on monday, the other players will follow.

I hear you, I get it about players following the action. However most of the players who typically get things going over there aren't usually the most "fun" ones, lol (i.e. those who get the main game going early). I'd rather travel to play at Derby than at Lucky's...

PLO action at derby full time would be sweet

Don't have it memorized but it's as good as you can ask for a 1 day tourney

Planning to hit up the 3/6 O8 game tonight, any idea what a good time is to arrive to avoid waiting hours for a seat to open up?

Also, considering checking out the deepstack Sunday NL tourney at some point in the future, what type of field does that usually see?

Most likely will be multiple limit games running and you shouldn't have to worry too much about a long wait because the old guys that start the game early on all leave around the time you're trying to arrive so there should be plenty of seats.

Played tonight, they had two tables going. Was a good mix of young, middle aged and old people. The first table had a lot of banter, plenty of terrible players and was the source of a lot of early profit for me.

However, at a dealer change the guy deals me a winner the first hand he sits down, and proceeds to cooler me on three hands pretty close to each other, for fairly large pots. Eventually I'm moved to the main game which had a few grumpy, middle-aged regs in it.

A hand or two after I sit down the dealer discovers an Ace and a deuce have been bent/folded in the middle, someone at the table has been marking cards. A floorperson is called over to replace the setup. I notice one scummy looking guy at the other end of the table and his body language changes immediately as the marked cards are discovered, he turns his body away from the dealer and table and starts paying attention to stuff away from the table.

Pretty sad someone feels desperate enough to cheat at a 3/6 limit game, but then again people cheat online at FREE games with just a leaderboard/bragging rights at stake, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Also, unbeknownst to me, the 3/6 game is a full kill and they also sometimes get a 6/12 game going that is also full kill (maybe update the OP?)

Anyway, had a fun night, was up a couple hundred bucks at one point but I'm rusty and played a few hands badly, got coolered on a few others and wound up only walking away +$34 after four hours at the table.

Dealers were far more competent at dealing O8 than they were at Foxwoods (those jerkoffs were jokes) and the waitresses and massage girls were all pretty hot too (unlike up at Foxwoods)

Regular drinks are free, but if you want booze it's not. Comps on your players card are like 60 cents/hr.

Played the 3/6 O8 again on Saturday night. At one point the must-move table was down to four players. The Seminole will NOT lower the rake, not one dime. They still charge max of $5 plus the $1 jackpot drop. So the four of us decided to sit and wait for them to get us more players before we'd continue.

We almost had someone hit the high hand for $400 with quad 3's, but literally three minutes before the buzzer another table hit a T-high straight flush

Got to the casino a little after 6pm last night and there were two full tables of 3/6 Omaha hi/lo running and I was #6 on the waiting list. Got seated in under an hour though.

Met a 2+2 lurker who said he was playing his last hand about 20 hands in a row, lol. If you're reading, cool to meet ya!

Game was pretty soft, but not a lot of huge pots being generated. Plenty of players in there with awful hands, but they weren't making big pots unfortunately. And a lot of players who were sitting with smaller stacks. If they busted they'd rebuy, but didn't lend itself well to generating large pots to contest.

On the must-move table eventually they sat an Asian guy in a leather coat that was also on the 2/5 NL list. He got called for both around the same time but opted to stay on our table. Typical LAG, raise raise raise. Got him headsup in a few kill pots where I had the best of it only to see him runner-runner flush one hand and then two-outer me on the river in another (he had A2xx and I had A36Q and the board ran out A26...Q....2)

Made up some of the losses when I was moved to the main game but still booked a small loss for the night.

Also stopped by the signup desk and asked for a structure sheet for their tournaments and they tried giving me the march list of events which just shows the starting stack and times per level. I explained what I was looking for again and they directed me to the smaller podium where the floor person is located.

Went there, three staff there. They also tried handing me the March schedule of events as their "structure sheet". Explained what I wanted again, one of the dealers went to the main floorperson out on the floor and came back and told me they didn't have them printed because they are still "tweaking" the structures.

And it being St Paddy's a trip to the restroom found a drunk guy at the urinals singing along to a Justin Timberlake song they had coming over the speakers (but only at the part where JT asked for all the "fellas" to sing along)
