Ya know what? I'm genuinely happy for you mid/high limit guys. Seriously, as I stated in an earlier post...I truly wouldn't doubt seeing 20/40+ on the regular at this room. I honestly have a feeling that this room may very well be on its way to being one of the best (if not THE BEST) poker rooms on the east coast. Lets get this done. We're at the ground level of what could be, with out doubt, a masterpiece in the poker community. Sound a little outlandish? A little dreamy? Those who feel this way need not participate.

Guys, lets do this right. lets shape this into something we can be proud of. A never ending super spread of poker X-T-C second to none!! An east coast poker destination!! Something that we can say,20 years from now , we helped build. Something talked about from here to the moon and back!! Something they'll build luxury hotels and entertainment/convention centers around ( and pools w/ bars and stuff)!! Lets get it to where they'll have to kick all the slots and other junk they have in the building out to make room for more poker tables. Get it to where we won't just have a poker room but a poker building!! Where we'll have everything spread from 1/2 limit (yes I said 1/2 limit), to 1000/2000 triple draw!!

Ok, ok..maybe I'm getting a little ahead of myself...lol. But people, I see so much potential in this room, It's not even funny.Iron the silly chit out and lets shoot for the stars is all I'm saying. Get the word out to every poker buddy you have! Every limit/game, just get it done. I think the SKYisn't even the limit to this room. No ******** people ,I have a great feeling about this.

GOD I CAN'T WAIT TO BE A REG. AT THIS ROOM!!!!

That is all

Thumbs up Re: PARX Poker Thread

I just got back from my first trip (finally) to Parx. I am certainly going back. If my second trip is anything like the first, Harrah's and AC will be a memory. It had little to do with the juicy 4/8 LHE game, though that was nice.

Impressions

Tables - a bit small, but nice. The dealers tray is too small for a limit game. It really is a bit cramped but mainly due to the seat bases with five legs - others have mentioned this IRRC. Once several Ladies were seated, things spread out more. I guesss that most male poker players are overweight. Our shuffler was a smidge high, but not enough to impact dealing, etc. There was plenty of room between tables. The carpet, almost swalled a $500 chip and is, I think a bit too loud but whatever. Designed to hide stains I presume?? (shrug) Was that guy ever glad when the lady mext to me lifted her foot and found itl.

The dealers ranged from good to excelent (Ping was almost too fast and superbly efficient). With the room only being open a short while (and Ari if you read this I need a hat - work kept me away until now) they were much better than Harrah's at the same juncture. MUCH better. There were a few new dealers, but that's too be expected. Even the new ones only made minor mistakes. The main thing was lack of posting/not posting at 4/8 LHE. I didn't play NL, so more difficult situations in that game might be different. I'll try them at O8 and see how ready they really are.

Drink service - Borgata babes, not quite but still...well chosen. OK, so I sound like a dirty old man, tough. I'd rather sound that way than be served by ladies who qualified for Medicare a decade ago like at the Trop in AC. At times the drink service was slow, but it was a Saturday night so that's to be expected. Hopefully they will increase the ration of servers to tables after the expansion.

I sampled the hot sausage sandwich from the bar. I got it in less then ten minutes, perhaps even five. It was just a nuked/boiled hot sausage like you would get at a street vendor in center city, but it was hot and the roll was fresh plus it came with a bag of ship on a nice plastic tray, not handed to me in a napkin. For $3.50 it was a good deal as far as poker room munchies go. Playing on a satisfied stomach leads to better decisions IMHO. I'll try some other stuff and report back.

Games - 4/8 was playing like a 2/4 game. Several who would see every flop, etc. Nuf said. Cashed out plus $196 People are already asking about a bad beat and even lower limits. NOOO! please, please, please no bad beat! No 2/4 - pretty please. Perhaps start 6/12 LHE for something between 4/8 and 8/16, though that might not be feasable.

Atmosphere - It felt like a poker room, not like that catering hall at the Borgata. Not that I'm mockng the mighty B, but the room there is...I don't know...cold, huge...??? I still prefer Harrah's AC for "poker room feel", but this isn't far off. it kind of reminds me of the old Trop feel but with a modern twist. That Tropicana room itself was always my favorite (servers notwithstanding) for some strange reason.

The Men's room could have used a better layout. Once the room expands it will be a traffic jam at the door but it's a bit late now.

Fills took a short time when needed. Is it better to have five minute fills every few hours or one minute fills more often? You tell me. In any case, this system just seems better than Harrah's Chester and as good as AC. In Limit I think that cash should play, but that's just me.

Floor - In my very short wait (~5:00pm on Sat) they were efficient at filling seats, even calling four players if there were three open spots and moving things along. Good work. Several trips will be needed to see how they do at different time. Later on (say after 10:30) I heard some players at adjoining 2/5 game complaining about empty seats with a long list, etc, but again it was a Saturday night. At Harrah's Chester they would have been playing six handed instead of eight/nine. For being open about a fortnight, I give the floor a great rating. Getting a poker card took only moments BTW.

Once they expand, hopefully they will be able to have multiple tables of LHE and other games. IRRC there was about 20 (from off the board earlier) on the 15/30 list when I left at 11:15. If I only had the roll. There was also a list of ~15 for 8/16. The 1/2 list was about 45 long, and I think there were 4-5 tables of 2/5, plus an O/8 game. There were lists for other games but no tables - hurry up december. Can I start a list for 4/8 Stud-8 now?

I have never been to Vegas so I can't compare to venues there, but this room has the posential to be among the best around, period. So far it's right up there amont the best in the area. Ari & company, my hat is off to you!

I concur. The room is awesome. I was planning to move to Margate, NJ, but
now, Im moving to Bensalem. The only thing that needs improvement is the rake from $5 to $4, just like AC. haha. I can hope , cant I?

This is true.
I wasted an hour in Chester when the better action was at Parx... I made the drive up North to Bensalem and was very happy with that decision.

Nice report. I'm going to check out Parx next Sat. afternoon.

I also liked the Trop a lot, up until 2006 or so. More fish than Taj, and less crowded than the old downstairs room @ Borgata.

I really like the spread of limits/games @ Parx thus far. Good to see 8/16 LHE, 4/8 O8, and 1/2 PLO becoming regular.

Count me in for 4/8 stud 8 ! It might have a better chance at going than 4/8 stud. Seems like 4/8 stud is having trouble getting spread thus far.
Stud 8 would be pretty good with that structure. Let's ask Ari if we could try and get this spread after the expansion.

Also agree about no 2/4 (or 3/6) or BBJ. Those games would kill off the 4/8 LHE games. Who in their right mind would want to play 2/4 (or 3/6) with a $5 rake + $1 for BBJ anyway ?

Really was poor designing. Other than the color, I love the chips though. Had never played with Paulsons Hat and Cane before...very nice.

Is there a comp system at parx? Do you need to swipe in/out or does a system not exist?

Sick $5/10 game last night, Parx is really the best $5/10 game I've ever seen..can't wait to see what higher limit action Parx will have when they expand and have a high limit section!

What about the coloring is poor? Seems to be pretty different to me.

If you go back 30 pages or so you will see most of the conversation on this topic. The chips share too much color, making it pretty easy to have a dirty stack and not notice it. It doesn't look too bad in that picture above, but it can be a problem.

+1. While valet, and security escorts, are possible solutions for the people who take advantage of them, they won't be used by the majority of people. Which just moves the target onto the casual player - which is a potential public black eye to the casino. How many people avoid the Taj because of the incidents there? To say that you can and do protect yourself (either by taking advantage of the solutions above, or just by taking care of yourself), doesn't remove the risk to the group at large, which will have an impact to the casino, even if you as an individual are able to say it's someone else's problem.

I suppose it's hard to gauge this from a quick read of the recent pages of the thread, which I'm sure you did before posting.

15/30 has been running regularly and strong (even on weekdays). There was a 20+ waitlist last night. 30/60 hasn't run yet but I really believe it will run once the expansion happens. Last night we had 5+ on the waitlist all ready to play, but no free tables.

What are the typical buy-ins for 4-8 or 8-16 LHE? I have limited LHE experience (pretty much 2-4 and two or three experiences with 10-20). I'd really like to start playing LHE for a change of pace. (yes, you can all take my money as I learn, but I learn quick and have a long memory ).

I usually buy in for 20 big bets to any LHE game, which I think is fairly standard. So 160 at 4/8 and 320 at 8/16. I play lots of pots though, so I'll often plan to have an additional buy-in or two in my pocket.

Typically, I see most people buy into the 4-8 for a single rack ($200) and the 8-16 varies between 1 and 2 racks.

I think a single rack for 4-8 is sufficient, unless you really like to splash around. I prefer 2 racks for 8-16, however. If you play on the tight side, you could make a single rack work in 8-16 (if you also keep a couple hundred ready to reload), unless you are calling lots of bets with draws, that don't get there

Thanks! Glad I asked, I was assuming people bought in for more. Might try to head in later tonight (around 8-8:30) or maybe tomorrow morning /early afternoon. I have to catch a flight out of Philly tomorrow so may stop off on my way in. DO you think I'll need to call ahead for tonight?
