There is no 15 game at the Borg. Their 10 game sucks when it gets late. The 20 game is full of regs when it gets late. During the week, it sucks almost everywhere (except LV and CA). Since Parx has had only had 2 weekends so far, let's see how it goes with more run time. Somehow, I don't think the 30 game will fly. The 8 game is gaining traction, though. More or less, I chalk it up to growing pains.

Side note: watch the antics of the Jamaican comedy traveling act who try and signal each other by placing their Parx card on their playing cards and tapping the Parx card depending on what their hole cards are. Very amusing.
I did see that. Someone else mentioned it to me and I was watching. Even as a team, they looked pretty sad

I know there isn't a 15 game there and the 20 game is softregardless of the time. I only mention the 30 game cause a decent amountof ******** artists in this thread talk about how they couldn't wait to play it.

The 8-16 game is a joke. I won 500 in 2 hours and literally was 4 betting blind. Total joke.

Yup - I hear ya. I think there is more talk than action around that one. I even expected the 15 game to have multiple tables going. I am hoping that it is just a traction thing and will improve shortly.

But, even at that... sometimes the biggest game isn't always the BEST game. I played the 8 game last time, because it was a better game than the 15 (when I scoped it out). ****, I even left the 8 game to go sit O8, since *that* game looked better (and was better) than the 8.

I agree with you I'm just disappointed in the 15 game breaking so early. We can actually get 20-40 and 25-50 going before we jump to 30-60 and up. Just make sure to start a list of interest each time for all the games you want, that's what I do.

Fingers crossed that we get multiple 8 and 15 games this weekend!!! I doubt they'll spread a 20 game, since that could wreck the 15 (just like it did in AC).

I'd also like to see an 8 or a 10 or a 15 2-way (O8 and Stud8) get off. Even a 4 game would be a start.

Really does suck that the 15 game breaks so early. We kept a nice one going on Tuesday, but we had to play 3 handed for a bit to keep it alive...and then it filled nicely and went late. Last Saturday (I think it was) I played in a 15 game that went alllllll night...so it depends on who's there I guess, and if they're stuck heh.

I really think having the extra tables is an issue. If we had open tables on the weekends, we could start a 30 game 3 handed or whatever, and I bet some folks would join in for the fun. Oh, and I'm down for 20/40 or 25/50, but I'm not sure Ari wants to run those. Our best bet for 20/40 is just to have everyone at the 15 game agree to bump it.

Next time you spot people working together don't post about it on here...just send me a message hehe. I wanna be able to exploit that ****. Oh, and those two guys can do whatever they want imo as long as they stay and play.

If there's no 30 game running this Saturday (when I'll be there), I'd be down for an 8/16 HOSE (or 15/30 HOSE but that sounds like an impossible dream) if we could do that. But I can't get there too early on Saturday to lock up the table. We're kinda screwed until the expansion.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

When I questioned whether a 30/60 game will ever go and best to hope for was a regular 15/30 I was talked down to about not knowing the dynamics of live poker.Parx is a NL room which will tolerate some limit tables because not many like LHE as are most rooms.Last night at the Borg 27 of 34 tables were NL.
To have expected anything different well was foolish.

I'd definitely play 8/16 2-way or HOSE on a Sat. I'll also play 4/8 HOSE.

Might have to wait until the room expands to get mixed games going though...

so you won 500 in 2 hours and call the game ajoke...like you can crush it for a lot of money and you are complaining. Who is the full of ______ guy. Your like the guy who just wins a big pot and then complains about the bad beat he had...and it was only a bad beat because he let the guy draw a card for free

Also i do not see why anyone is surprised, most people want to play NLH. There is a fringe group who want to play LH, Omaha and stud...and most of them are on 2 plus 2

Ari,

I have been playing in AC for years...almost exclusively at Borgata. I, along with some of the others I play with will make Parx my new home when:

1) The mid-higher limit games turn into TIMEed games instead of rake ($5!)
2) The inadequate SECURITY situation is corrected
3) SMOKING is eliminated from the poker room. (the reasons for this go without saying).
4) No BBJackpot continues to be implemented

There are many many players that would like to see these changes. If they are, you will have a full time customer for the forseeable future. Thanks!

15/30 and higher are already time games and time pots allowed.

Also there are safe boxes already built, but not given out yet pending state approval (told week or two).

Right now you can notice the smoke a little bit at the tables close to the bar, I am told in Dec when they expand to 45 tables higher limits will get a section as far away from the bar as possible. I am sure you won't ever notice it that far. I was skeptical and HATE smoke but the ventilation is pretty good.

Not saying your concerns aren't valid, just letting you in on some info you may not have heard.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

Played for the first time at Parx last night.

Waited 9 years to sit at 1/2 and was greeted with about 4 inches of space. After asking people to center themselves a bit more on their cupholders it didn't get much better. We had one fairly big guy in the 5 seat and he took up any extra space we had. Tables are just way too small IMO. They didn't look bad when I was walking around, but they're just too small. Can't imagine what it's like with the normal amount of fat guys at the table. The chairs are also a wreck. Since the feet are wider than the seat itself, if you push back you're most likely taking one or both of your neighbors with you. Maybe it was a one time thing and next time I'll have plenty of room, but we'll see.

I walked in at 9pm and the lot was fairly well lit. Walking out at 12:30 I passed the guard at the front desk and again had a security SUV drive down my row as I walked to my car. That's both times I've been there that there's been security all over the place on my way out. Once they have the lighting situation taken care of, security will be less of a problem.

This room will be flat-out phenomenal when they expand if they can get the few small issues taken care of. My table sucked, but the players aren't great and don't even look familiar from Chester so the market may be bigger than most on here are thinking. The weekly tournaments(if/when they come) will be a massive idiot-fest.

I'd also like to see free draft beers or at least a $2/$3 special each night. People playing nickle slots 100yds away are drinking gin&tonics for free.

I strongly agree with 2 & 3 - one more thing i would add to the list is tournaments. i am only 45 mins away compared to 2 hrs to AC and looking forward to these changes

There is no such thing as a "NL Room". True, the majority of games that are spread here and in AC are NL, but that doesn't mean that there is not room for non-NLH games. I think it's less of tolerating the limit games, than it is giving as many players as possible, the opportunity to choose from something other than NLH. Limit poker games are far from dead. In comparison to NLH, they pale in quantity of players, but the interest outside of NLH is very much alive.

I am starting to question whether the 30 game will fly here. But, that is purely a demographic concern. In LV, the 30 game at Bellagio goes strong every day, often with multiple tables. Different demographic. And, if you haven't noticed... NLH is pretty big in LV, too

We need to adjust our expectations. Give the room a chance to develop. I'd love to see 4-5 games of 4/8LHE, 3-4 games of 8/16LHE, 2-3 games of 15/30LHE and 2 or more games of 30/60LHE , along with some mix of other games (O8, HOSE, PLO, etc.). We should see some of that as the room (and economy) grows, new players come to the room, the expansion, tournaments.

It's not like the big-bang theory. Evolution. Takes a little time. Patience.

I still do not understand this whole "limit vs NL" in this thread. Who cares? Go, play. If you want to talk about the games you play, with the people you play them with, do it. No one . . ever said anything about even half of any room being limit. Why is there confusion and argument?

People want what they want. My take is, if the demand is there, the room will fill it. Personally, I find that pretty cool concept and an excellent way to run a card room. As for why the consternation over the 30 game vs. NL... your guess is as good as mine

Plenty of room for all persuasions!

Because limit is for girly men. Can't get anyone off their hands, no skill, etc.
Me manly, me play NL.

Before the room opened there was tons of speculation what type of player pool they will attract.Ari bent over backwards to try and accommodate all types of games. When any poster suggested that it will be mostly a 1/2 2/5 Nl room they were treated with angst and anger(not by you Grim) that they did not know what they were talking about. Now after one week it looks like a predominately NL room. It's early and things may change but the NL players hit the ground running. Its the limit players that are disappointed. Most NL players would rather get a root canal then play limit.Once they expand and add tourneys-sng's this will only draw more NL players. Now is your chance to get a foothold on a steady game.I hope everyone gets what they want it's a big room.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

I don't think that anyone was confused about whether the predominant game type would be NL once the room opened. The debates (arguments?) were around whether the room would spread and more importantly, sustain higher limit, limit games.

That said, even after the upcoming expansion(s), I don't think anyone would argue that the percentage of NL vs. other games will be heavily weighted toward NL.

Arguments aside, some of us are hoping that the limit games will not just survive, but gain popularity, especially at mid-limits and up.

As said - it will be a big room... more than enough to satisfy demand. Ari and co. are dedicated to meeting demand, where it exists. It should, therefore, be a win-win for all games.
