Thank YOU for the feedback Ari. October is a ways off, and I'm sure you'll have the best run room in PA. Good luck in your new job and we'll see you in October. My favorite month of the year! PA is beautiful in the fall.

Should try to schedule some form of 2+2 meet up once Parx opens its poker rooms.

Good idea, I think I read in another thread that it was on the approved list.
Don't know if kill/half-kill LHE games are though.

IMHO, I think this would be an ideal spread of games @ Parx:

1/2, 2/5, 5/5, higher on request, NLHE
2/4, 4/8, 8/16, 15/30, higher on request, LHE
4/8 (half kill), 10/20 (half kill) O8
1/2 PLO
1-5 (.50 ante), 4/8 ($1 ante) 7CS
6/12 ($1 ante) Stud H/L or HORSE

Spreading 2/4 & 3/6 LHE is not good, 2/4 & 4/8 is much better.
Same with the omaha & stud games, much rather see 4/8 as opposed to 5/10. The smallest O8 game should be 4/8 (w/ a half kill), and the stud games should have high antes (No 1-5 no ante or 5/10 .50 ante games).

The way I read the regs (http://www.pabulletin.com/secure/dat...40-10/390.html) the certifiicate holder must submit the request.
Quote:
521.4. Request to offer a new table game or new feature for an existing table game.

A certificate holder that desires to offer a new table game that is not in this subpart or offer a new wager or feature as part of a table game included in this subpart, shall file a written request with the Board's Executive Director. The request, at a minimum, must contain:

 (1) A detailed description of the table game or feature including the rules of play and wagering that would be used for the new table game or feature.

 (2) The reason why the new table game or feature is being proposed.

 (3) A list of other gaming jurisdictions where the new table game or feature is currently being offered.

Razz is not on the approved list per http://www.pabulletin.com/secure/dat...40-10/390.html.

Quote:
553.9. Types of permissible Poker games.

 (a) A certificate holder may offer the following types of Poker games:

 (1) Seven-card Stud (High, High-low-hand Split and High-low-hand Split Eight or Better).

 (2) Hold 'em (High).

 (3) Omaha (High, High-low-hand Split Eight or Better).

 (4) Five-card Draw (high and low-hand).

 (5) Five-card Stud (high).

 (6) Other Poker games approved by the Board.

 (b) A certificate holder may not offer or permit the playing of any Poker game which is not authorized by this chapter or approved under § 521.3 (relating to table games surveillance requirements).

The only mention of kill or half-kill games are for O8. Definitions from the same document:

Quote:
Half-kill option—In the game of Omaha High-low-hand Split Eight or Better Poker, when one player wins an entire qualifying pot, the betting limits are increased by one-half the posted table wagering limits for the next hand and remain in effect until a pot is split between one player winning the high hand and another player winning the low-hand or until a pot does not equal or exceed the qualifying pot.

For what it's worth, a guy in my home game the other night is in training to deal poker at Hollywood near Harrisburg and they will be spreading 2/4 and 4/8 LHE and no 3/6 LHE.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

I just hope that the games are raked, and not time charged. Especially the 2/5 NLHE and the 5/5 (if there is one) NLHE.

Also, for the 2/5 NLHE game, I like the rule (used at Harrah's and Bally's in AC) of white chips not being in play unless it's an all-in situation. No bets, in other words of $18 or $23 or whatever. Speeds up the game, and keeps the dealer from spending a lot of time making change.

In a 5/5 game I don't think that this is an issue, since white chips don't play at all.

I'm still waiting for information on this:

Any update on exactly what type of outfits the cocktail waitresses will be wearing?

Also:

Does anyone have any inside information on what color the carpet will be by the podium?

They should just spread 4/8. Instead of 2/4 they should just put up a sign that says "NoLimit Hold'em Only". 2/4 will probably barely break even with the overhead and kill any chance of higher limit games running regular.

When will your superiors be filing for approval of a poker room? The proposal approved by the state Board did not include poker tables.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

Some of the 'tweaks' from the original "wish list".

I'm not a NLHE player, so I'm not really sure if 5/5 or 5/10 will be better.

If you're going to spread 4/8 & 8/16 LHE, might as well spread the same limits for O8 also - 8/16 O8 (w/ half kill to 10/20 maybe ?).

Also, PLO might be a weekends-only game, not sure if 1/2 or 2/5 will be better.

A straight stud h/l game is really a pipe dream.

4/8 HOSE ($1 ante/BI for stud, half kill for O8) might be a better limit to get a game off as opposed to 6/12. I'd also highly recommend the game have a set day & time (similar to the mixed games in Vegas) to try and gain a foothold.

I'd like to see some stud games. 5/10, 10/20, 15/30 whatever. Stud was king in AC before televised poker. It's not that slow of a game to play, and pretty fun.

that is all

Totally agree, I also love to play stud.
However, I'm not a fan of the typical AC stud structures, like 1-5 (no ante), 5/10, 10/20, etc...These are low % ante/bad chip structure games, and will encourage the ol' timers betting the ponies to sit there all day like rocks/reading their racing forms.

Here's what I would suggest to Parx as far as stud limits go;
1-5 (w/ .50 ante), if no coins are allowed then 2/4 or 2-6 no ante.
4/8 ($1 ante/BI), popular game in CA poker rooms.
8/16 ($1 ante, $2 BI), might be tough to get players.
15/30 ($2 ante, $5 BI), not spread in AC anymore.
Basically, I'd keep the limits/structures the same as the LHE & Omaha games.

Also, I'd try and get a weekly 4/8 HOSE going on the same day/time, similar to what Monte Carlo, IP, & Harrah's did in Vegas.

I just don't see RAZZ being spread at any level. I've played poker since it's inception in AC and I have never seen a RAZZ game.

I'll be playing some medium to high stud, and limit holdem at PARX when offered. I think there could be some huge regular games during the weekend.

that is all
