We actually have the function for text messaging, I apologize for not being more clear.

This is great news ari...maybe give the option or let the hosts now to ask the customers... if there's a bit of a wait when we check in....I didn't know of this and the host just asked if id like to be paged. I've been on a long list many times at parx, but have yet to be asked.

Playing devils advocate:

So what if you get paged? How long do you have to answer the page?

There is nothing to do in Parx East other than wait for your table.

Say you go to the main building and play blackjack or goto Chickies to eat and get paged, there is no way you are getting back there in 2 or 3 minutes to claim your seat.

Will you have to show the person at the check in desk your text saying that you were called and then you will be next up?

I'm not sure what the rule in place right now is, but ideally, I think you should be able to call the poker room immediately after getting the text, and ask them to lock up your seat for 10 minutes.

Good points - and, sometimes (most times, actually) there is a propagation delay in the network systems, before your phone actually receives the page. This could add a couple minutes. Would there need to be time accounted for that, before moving to the next person in line?

You could be standing right next to the sign-in desk when they send the text. Yet your phone might not get it for a few minutes. There would have to be something in place for that, before they "assume" you are not responding.

Do they also page you via the PA system?

Agreed.

The issue, as I see it, is - how long it takes the text to get to you. It's not instantaneous - even with phone-2-phone texts, it can take 15-30 seconds. Their text-paging is going through computer networks to get to your carrier, who then has to blast it over the air to your phone. I'd expect at least that long, most likely longer.

So how long do they wait for you to get it - then respond.

Worst case scenario is many people request this and they wait 3 minutes for each response. Seating could back up like a clogged sewer.

I'd like to hear the plans for how this would be implemented, without causing undo delay in seating for everyone else.

Don't get me wrong - I love the idea. But, will it work on a large scale?

There will be table games downstairs and a supposedly a noodle bar come December which should make the wait easier.

I was texted by the desk this weekend and it was almost instant, not that that speaks for everyone, but hardly anything Parx can do about that. It is a nice little bonus as I see it. I am running bad in life and got sick, hope to be back soon.

I would assume they will send the text and PA call you at the same time. And you have the same amount of time to respond, it is just an extra little bit of information to hopefully get to you.

Feel better, man! I'll see you there when you get back on your feet..

I may drop by the room for a while, around 6PM tonight. I'll talk with the desk about how this works and try it out myself, too.

Gotta love the irony (coincidence) -- The poker room has huge wait lists for now, because they can't use their other 24 tables until they add the gambling games on the adjacent floor. I'm sure plenty of people would play these gambling games to kill time while waiting for their poker seat... but once the games are added, the poker room expands, and the waitlists shouldn't be so bad (I hope)!

I mean, if the PA gaming commission instituted this rule to try and generate extra taxes from extra house game revenue, it does seem like they ended up getting it kind of backwards in this case... just sayin'.

Well, the other side of that coin is that they need to make money to be able to staff the tables downstairs and open them, so money is made (albeit not as much as say BJ or roulette) to build capital for the company.

I agree though, the PA gaming comission seems to be stepping on its own feet with writing laws and starting things off.

Im just glad to see that PARX is paying attention to the clients with all of the items that were noticed in this thread, and addressing them.

The 10% of players who can afford to play the higher limits or the 90% of their clients who play lower limits. They want to be a great room but they also want to make money. If the 1/2 players show up and cant play thats 90% of their revenue walking away in the future. If you are upset because they didnt open up a second 15/30 game, then do they really lose out? I doubt it. Who would want a whiny high limit player complaining about everything paying about the same rake as the lower limit players? I understand it effects you so you are gonna be upset, but all your posts are the same. Stop make threats that you wont play and really just dont play. Im sure you will make everyone else happy.
It's not a threat. It's god business. Once you and your fellow bottom feeders go broke the "whiney" people like myself will be keeping the room going.

You will be paying texting rates. I have an application in development that will be able to connect you to all rooms across the country (as long as the casinos use the product).

I've seen the standard of locking a seat for 10 minutes.

Its not good business. Not even close. You name me one company that caters to only 10% of their customers. That is just stupid thinking. And the bottom feeders dont go broke dummy. We just multiply. For every low limit casual player who gives up the game, 4 more take his/her place.

And you dont keep the room going. You just get in the way for what really makes the poker room money. Thats why every room in the country has more than 75% of their games being low limit NL holdem. If you dont like it then tough. You arent gonna get your way. You are in the minority. Tough cookies.

But my major problem is the arrogant privileged way your posts come off. Nobody cares if you come to the room or not so stop making your "If everything isnt exactly how I like then Im not coming." posts. Go take your ball and go home. Everyone else will be better off. The best part is you are a slightly above average player who thinks he deserves the world. It always boggles my mind why ppl with so little pull in the world expect so much. Its sad.

It's not about having my ball and all that other longwinded ******** you wrote. The poker rooms and casinos do cater to the people who play higher. That is why most poker rooms have separate rooms for people who play higher stakes. I'm not trying to knock on the low-limit players, all I am doing is asking for a chance for people who play higher to have the same game availability.

I didn't want my post to sound like if I did get my way than screw everything. It was a simple statement saying I won't waste my time traveling to Parx until tables are reserved for higher limit games (doubtful) or more tables get put in.

It's absurd not to want to try and attract higher limits in there! Parx is situated in a perfect spot to be able to attract players all over NJ and NY because it is closer for both. I'm almost certain people who travel to AC to play all the mid and high stakes games would gladly save travel time and expenses if they could play at Parx.

Another point, hours wasted for winning players by waiting for game or traveling is lost revenue. No one who actually earns money worries about the same foolish **** you might. I get so passionate with my posts because the opportunity to earn is multiplied many times over if Parx decides to run a higher limit area.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

Ari,

I have an idea for games that are charged time. How about Parx offer players a percentage of rake back for hours played that goes into a players account that can be turned into cash? People love it online and I think live poker players playing at Parx would much rather have extra income than comp dollars.

The reason why I say time is because I'm not certain how you could keep track of raked games with your Bravo system.

Re: PARX Poker Thread

Just won 8 $100/$200 quarter-coin flips in a row at PARX versus a 2p2'er for $1000

Scene: 1:55AM. Room is half full. I'm playing 2/5 and am about to cash out for a modest profit. I sell my seat for $100 to a 5/10 reg because my table is juicy but I have to leave for work this morning. This begins my run good.

Villain/Jennifer Garner has been playing 1/2 while waiting for a 2/5 game to open up. He is pretty drunk and has been shoving all in at 1/2 blind. After cashing out, I walk up to villain and propose that we flip a coin for $100. We have a history and villain basically took 13 months to pay me back a $2000 debt but thats another story.

I call heads on first flip. He wins. I lose $100.

My friend jumps in and flips, calling tails. Friend wins. Villain loses my $100. Friend books profit. Fool.

We then proceed to do 8 flips in a row. He lets me call all the flips I call heads for $100 three times in a row winning all of them. Then I call heads for $200 and hit it. Then I call tails for $100 and hit it. Then I call heads two more times for $100 and hit. Final flip is for $200 and I call tails.

Woohoo.

Rainy day forecast.I think I might head over today. Unfortunately, I don't have my car any more, so I'm gonna have to take a 3 hour bus ride!! Any1 have the scoop on the tables around noon or 1pm on Tuesdays? I have the room # now and I think I'll take advantage of the call in for wait list.

Any1 in the Limerick/Royersford area I can hop a ride with? I have gas money!!..lol

Anyway..I'm going to start my journey at around 9-10 to get there by 1. Crazy I'm doing this, being the drive in a car is only 40 mins er so. I'm too anxious. I have to check this place out!!

I'll have my bright yellow fleece and Philadelphia section PGA hat on in case any1 wants to introduce themselves!! I'll also be buying short at 1/2..so no whining!! lol Just donate tyvm

NEW RULE: You can change tables a maximum of two times a night.

This sucks. I feel partly responsible because in any given 6-1 hr 2/5 session I change tables 3-4 times.
