Had an opportunity to start my 2012 with two trips to the Borgata, back on 1/6 for an overnight stay with my date and last night. On both nights, there were lots of action on my 2/5 NLHE and 1/2 NLHE tables I went to. Overall, I finished being up $175. Of course, a big thanks to Stan and Mabel for taking care of me! :-)

Also on 1/6, I had an opportunity to see the ultra-high limit room in action from behind the glass wall. The place has a nice Borgata-decor, very roomy, some couches and nice action. This room reminds me of my quick visit to the Ivey Room at the Aria in Vegas last year. Same premise, but with the Aria decor. Seeing Scott Nguyen play at that time playing 100-200 mixed, I hope someday we could see a big-name poker pro playing in our room.

I hope to be back this weekend to log some hours. With the spare time I now have, I hope to log enough to get my comp room offers back. It's been "all blue" for months. Also unlike my last visits, I hope PLO will start this time.

Hey guys, trying to prepare for my first trip to the borgata (LA transplant to NYC a few years ago and haven't had time to make it out yet). Planning on playing 20/40 and just looking for some info on amount of tables, wait list, etc. for a typical Saturday day or Sunday day. Thanks

Well, just came back from a trip that started on thursday. I just had the craziest heater of my life. I was up 4250 dollars at 1/2 in my first 34 hours of play, which is more than twice as much as I have made in my entire life of playing poker. Had a little regression to the mean/poor playing during the last 3 hours and lost 600 bucks, ending the trip up 3650 in 37 hours swelling my poker bankroll to a healthy 5k. At the beginning of the trip I would only buy in for 200 to protect my bankroll, now I can buy in for 300 bucks, and make 150 dollar river bluffs if the need arises with no fear. im sure 2/5 is around the corner.

I wish I couldve played more, I wanted to play 50-60 hours rather than 37, but the beds were SO uncomfortable. I am normally the type of person who can sleep on the floor, so im sure the adrenaline of winning so much was part of the issue, but the beds in the borgata hotel have this insert that appears to essentially be a 6 inch piece of hard cardboard. Not sure if new inserts just got put in or what, but I slept 8 hours in 4 days, and spent a lot of the time I wanted to play poker in my room trying to sleep, and later I just gave up on sleeping but would still go to my room for hours just watching TV trying to regain some bit of energy.

Gonna book water club next time, my friends had waterclub, beds seemed much better. Plan on coming up next month, looking forward to making use of my new and improved bankroll

i like trip reports like this. much more interesting than debating smoking or what needs to be done. and encouraging when it's positive. good job man. congrats. i feel like i'm in the same boat you were in before your heater. i guess for the beds (or maybe it was a specific one?) it's to each his own... i find their beds so comfortable i hope to buy the revel mattress someday. i'm pretty sure they use their signature "revel" mattress at the waterclub too. but the pool alone is worth staying at wc. keep it man. gl.

On saturdays usually 3 or 4 20 games going, although last saturday got a fifth game going for a bit. Wait time shouldn't be too long on saturday. The 2nd game usually starts around 12 or 1.

Sunday is a little different. Usually get 2 games going. There is a chance you could have a wait if you don't get there early. 2nd game usually starts a little later in the afternoon. Hope this helps.

I am writing in today to defend the Borgata beds. They are utterly comfortable. Firm, but not too firm. Just right for a quick nap or 8 hours of REM.

I'll be here all day til Wednesday so just send me a pm(so I get an email instead of checking the forum) when you create the list.
Actually these games almost always start with 2-3 players and then fill up quickly. They'd go everyday if people didn't refuse to start short.

Stan:

I like to come down and play 20-40 Limit a few times a month.

When I come down during the week, a spot at the table is usually reserved for an individual and he can take as long as he wants. 2 or 3 hours sometimes and a list will build up while this seat is held. I get it, him or his family are big investors in Borgata's parent company or some such crap.

I am not going to name names, since the guy is actually a really nice guy, but how can you justify this? Is this even legal? If it is, how can I get such preferential treatment?

Obviously, make a big investment in Borgata's parent company. I am sure it is legal, just like Titanium card holders get to skip to the front of lines, etc.

I find Borgata beds most comfy, comfy, so much so, I spent way too
much time in them over the summer and managed to lose my
Fri/Sat. comped nights and most certainly the beds are good for at least ten hours sleep
a night...what you need for a cold battle ahead, see (p. 44 Life magazine

I guess I was just referring to the one time we had a tough time getting the floor to open the game. I know the game has a great chance of filling up, that's why I'm okay starting with 3 even though I'm probably at a disadvantage.

The 1/2 games are always enjoyable during tourney time. Also late night Mondays are the best times to people watch. The amount of MurMur girls who can't handle their booze is hilarious.

Don't even talk to the floor; they're unhelpful at least half the time. Go straight to the shift manager.
