Anyone ever tried or had success with the 20$ trick at the borgata? Heading there this weekend thought it might be worth a try

I havent tried it, but the only time I ever paid full price was for 1 night on a weekend, they just asked if we wanted an free upgrade. We ended up in a an OPUS suite. It was awesome. The bathroom was like the size of a regular room. Too bad it was only for one night. Wish I would have taken more pictures. Never again have I been offered an upgrade though, but maybe its because now my rooms are usually comped when I go.

There are some threads on it, in Vegas and only at some of the hotels the check in clerks are pretty receptive to finding you a free room upgrade if you slip them $20.

I have never tried this in Vegas or AC, I just don't get the feeling that will work at the B.

Within 1hr driving time of the casino, what are the best vacation areas for having clean and family friendly beaches and other activities? From what I've read, Cape May seems like a great fit for the type of area I'm looking for, but is a 1hr 15min (?) drive. Anything comparable that is closer? Thanks.

South on the Garden State Expressway gets you to Wildwood, North on the Expressway gets you to LBI, calling a taxi and having your wife and kids driven to one of those places gets you to stay behind in the B alone without your family.

Wildwood's about an hour's drive, maybe a tad less. There's a beach and a boardwalk with shops, arcades, food, etc. LBI's about an hour north, maybe a tad over. The beach is more stand alone - it's a bit nicer, but you need to leave it to get food or do anything else. Also, I think LBI requires you to buy a beach pass and Wildwood is free. (But I might be wrong)

Ocean City is about 30 minutes away, has a boardwalk that isn't as nice as Wildwood's, but at the same time it's a less touristy area that will be less populated and the beach is just as nice. Not sure on the beach pass info.

Any other questions feel free to PM me and I'll try to help out. (or text me if you still have my number)

We do the Ocean City boardwalk a few times a year and go every year for July 4th because of the family atmosphere and the fact that it's a dry town. If you don't mind being somewhere that really does roll the sidewalks up at night it is a very nice spot.

eg. July 4th after the fireworks we took the kids back onto the rides and pretty much closed down the pier. On the drive out back to the GSP you would never believe you were in a beach town on a holiday evening...almost all the houses were dark...no cars to speak of on the streets (except the local law which btw WILL write you a speeding ticket for going 35 in the 25 MPH zone along the boardwalk) and almost no one walking around. Again, we happen to like it because we have young kids but if you are looking for a party town Ocean City is NOT it.

:-)

I am definately interested, and will play anything between 7.50/15 and 15/30.
The only problem is I will usually be in the high limit room where I won't hear a new game called. You could ask them to call it in the back room as well, or if Stan could do something to make the new mixed games routinely announced in the backroom, that would really be helpful. I think there are others who would be interested if they heard the games announced there.

Just came back from Borgata. I played the 11am tournament which to my surprise had almost 300 players. Had my set cracked by runner-runner broadway(all in on the flop), but the staff offered me a double-up which i had to refuse due to unfair advantage. Upon returning from the break i discovered a grey chip instead of a purple. Had to give it back, but the floors were very confused when i told them that. PLO was great as usual, but I think that 1-3 PLO with no whites post-flop would be a better structure.
Overall a nice trip. Thanks for a free room

Spent 2 and 1/2 days in the poker room last week. Did not see or smell one cigarette in the poker men's room the entire time. I did see lot's of pee on the floor by the urinals and water on the counter at the sink though. Way more then usual.

Yes, we do.

Any business that would like to stay in business must cater to the needs and desires of its clientele.

Borgata, and Stan especially are great. But the drug addicts (smokers) need to keep their deadly process away from the off limits areas. And whoever's responsibility it is to provide a clean environment, without smokers, in the bathrooms should do their jobs.

It's pretty simple, actually.

2000 hours last year and I had a cig problem in the bathroom twice. I might be an outlier on the low side but it's not this huge, chronic problem that some people make it out to be. Sure it happens and yes, some people are legitimately sensitive to the problem, but then again, some people see a 2% kind of problem and make it out to be a 95% kind of disaster. Really, if one didn't use the Borgata bathroom on a regular basis and just read this forum, you'd think it was some dedicated smoke den that is just ignored by the staff.

I will say something if I see someone and I think at it's current severity (or lack thereof) this "call it when you see it" strategy for patrons and staff is appropriate. Maybe some occasional mentions to the staff.

The poker room still gets a "there is no smoking allowed in the poker room" announcement every now and then. Patrons are just that clueless sometimes. But there isn't really anything worthwhile (i.e. Dedicating fulltime security coverage to catching smokers would not be worthwhile) that can be done about these kinds of fluke incidents.

If I'm mistaken and the problem is much more severe, let's get some harder data or maybe start identifying who the repeat offenders are.

So I was trying to redeem my $50 in bonus comps for this month and found the offer removed from my profile. I was under the assumption we had the whole month to activate those comps. This happen to anyone else?

If you put your card into a slot machine it should have been redeemed automatically. You can either see if your balance is $50 more than before, or talk to the My Borgata Rewards Center people to see if they can see that transaction. The poker room might also be able to help you out.
