I was on the button. The other two villans were betting ahead of me. We all had about 10,000 worth of tournament chips each as it was early in the tournament. Lights did not go off with me when the two 10's came up on the board. Probably will from now on but how often does this happen.

Looks like it is usually a 6-game mix: 300-600 to 600-1200 HOSE plus 50-100 PLO and 100-200 NL.

what's the odds of flopping a Queen high flush? Pretty slim I would think.

At a full-table and early in a tournament your Q-high flush is not that great a hand to wage battle with especially when there is a pair on the board. Sure its a nice hand, but it is not the nuts and it's far from the nuts when the board pairs up. With TWO others betting at you - I wouldn't be that confident with the Q-high flush - as you just found out.

hey all,

I'll be at a 3 day convention in AC later this month at the Taj and plan on checking out the Borgota for the first time. I have a premium card for the Parx casino and for the Sands casino...is the Borgota players club giving any freeplay for new members..so and poker related. My only AC live experience was at the Taj last year where I planned on playing $1/$2 NL but didn't want to wait so played $2/$5 and bought in for only $200 but doubled up when I caught a flush on the turn..anyway..do you think a $100 or $150 buy-in would be looked down upon at $1/$2 no limit at the Borgata? Max buy in I think is $300 and I'm not used to playing that deep stacked and I'm only bringing about $500 and want extra for roulette and slots..oh well..I plan on writing a TR..sorry for the ramble..

Any good strategies to share on Borgata Survivor tournaments? Thinking of entering one in the near future. Seems pretty easy just trying to make the top 10%. I mean not easy but certainly do-able. Entry fee $150, cash out at 10X = $1,500. Hard to make that kind of cash on any of the other tourneys unless you crack the top five or ten. I know your upside is limited but seems like a better bet. I'm sure there are several early pot winners that just sit on their winnings. How do you know how many players are left? Do they announce it? Let me know if any of you out there have experience with this format. Thanks.

I'm coming down for event #13 the 100K GRTD event. Any educated guesses on how many runners to expect? I'm assuming it should blow past the guarantee with no chance of an overlay. This will be my first live re-entry tournament. Do a large majority of the players get crazy early on in these types of events to try and double up with full intentions of using their 2 re-entries or do they play fairly standard for a live GRTD tournament? I'll be there Tuesday to register ahead of time.

I think there is probably some regulatory issue preventing the NAPT from finding a location in AC. It kind of seems that the whole tour is having trouble getting traction due to its PokerStars affiliation, and I don't think it has much long term future unless or until online poker is legalized in the US.

People buy in shorter all the time.

Last week I was in a 1/2 game where I was the around the biggest stack at the table with $250. It's common to be playing against other stacks with only $100 or $150, and sometimes people buy in for only the minimum of $60.

That sounds like a seat change to me. Anyway, any hostility towards shortstackers found online or other locations is not present here. I have not seen a player berate another for their buyin.

Heading down this weekend from North Jersey (280 to GSP), usually I would leave late tonight to avoid traffic, but can't, so, what do you think is the latest I could leave in the morning and not end up in ridiculous traffic? Is 8am too late?

Hopefully we will be with the WPT for quite some time. Reasons!

New ownership (Party Poker)
Positive changes in the way they will produce the show
WPT will now have camera presence the entire main event.
More and more players will be on TV.
WPT just signed a three year extension on FSN

Because of these changes, I truly believe that the WPT will do just fine.

anyone know if it is possible to book a room w/ the normal rate "given" to your rewards account, and then play enough table games to get it comped? Or is it not possible since you booked it at rate.

I know last time when I didn't have a room, I got comped at the tables.

I just bought in short last nite, hit, tripled up, collected $200, passed go, and headed straight for the buffet...

This won't happen if you just play poker. Maybe if you hit the table games and/or slots it can happen... but generally this is hard to accomplish at all (from personal experience).

I've taken a bus from NY that left around 9AM this summer, and it took about an extra hour and a half to get to AC.

Taking an alternate route might save some time, but since it's Labour Day weekend the traffic is likely to be even worse, I'd suggest trying to leave around 7AM or earlier.
