1) What kind of benefits/deals does the black card have over the red card?

2) Should I try playing something besides poker in order to earn enough points for a black card? i.e. try to break even at blackjack for a few hours each trip in hopes of speeding up the process?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Since you only play poker...

You need to earn $1000 in comp dollars in any 12-month period to get a black card.

This is equivalent to 500 hours of 2/5 NL. Or 667 hours of 1/2 NL. Other games will require differing number of hours depending on their comp level.

One nice thing the Poker room staff will do is that they will let you jump ahead a little bit if you are close to the 1000 point mark and just issue you a black card in most cases. I think 700-ish was the lowest I've heard. I'd imagine you might also go on a two-month tear that would put you on track to 1000 in 6 months and use that as a case for requesting an early Black Card.

I've also seen a Black Card issued on the spot for someone playing... I want to say... 25/50 NL.

The deals you get aren't really tied to whether you are Black or Red. Deals are mostly tied to level of play. There's the correlation in that high level player will tend to have a Black Card. But it's probably bad thinking to think with a goal of "I want to get black to get good deals."

The reasons you want a Black Card are mainly:
  • $10 Buffet or Amphora Lounge for you and a guest
  • Free parking (self park AND valet)
  • Black card lines for some eateries and for check-in.

Another possible easy way is to take a premium level card from a Trump or Caeser's (formerly Harrah's) Entertainment property and let Borgata cross-upgrade you to Black. Then you get the additional bonus of a Classic room stay and $100 slot dollars.

I hope this gives you a pretty good idea of how much farther you need to go and whether the effort would be worth it for you. I haven't seen any info in this thread yet of what sorts of levels of table game play are needed to shortcut a Black Card (besides than earning $1000 comp)

I signed up for a My Borgata card at the casino and was wondering how you log onto the my borgata rewards website...im guessing the account # is the one on the card but is the password the 4 digit # you had to make when you signed up? I tried it and a error came up I didn't know if its the wrong password to put in or if the system wasnt updated with new members? I hope this is ok to ask here
The acct number is the one on your card. Leading 00s are not needed.

The 4-digit PIN is only used for access at Slot machines and at the My Borgata Rewards Kiosks at the Rewards Center and by the Main Cashier. (SUGGESTION - get a kiosk by the Poker room)

There is a button labelled "Get a Password" on the main login page. That may be where you need to go. (I don't remember anymore, but I don't remember getting any B staff involved)

There is another kiosk closer to the Poker room in the nook to the right of the entrance to the Amphora lounge.

I'd appreciate it if no one hits the BBJ until Thursday night so I can hit it.

Stan, are the regular daily tournaments running during the July 17-20 deepstack?

Does anyone know if the comp system at Borgata works on ADT the same way that it does at Harrahs? Specifically, if I am not planning on playing poker at Borgata on a given day, should I avoid spending my comps at a restaurant there, because then it will count as a trip against my average?

I see that based on the live game report from 3:30 PM yesterday that the 11 AM tournament was running strong. That number listed, 138, was that the number of players still alive or the total number of players registered overall? I'm trying to gauge whether I have time play in the tournament or not. I heard the structures are great and have been itching to try one out.

Re: (138) 11am $100 + $20 + $20 Bount $10k Guaranteed NL Tournament

- - I think that's the total number of entries at that point!

-- errata; another plug for the Free-rolls: (a) it's a great way to meet other players on the poker room you may not see in your regular game, and (b) I am thankful and appreciative of the 'opportunity' to receive 'free' lessons from stronger players a few times a month!

The 11am typically runs until about 6pm or so (if you're lucky to make it that far)

Yea Stan's #'s are always based on the total amount of entries to a tournament (I'm assuming including re-entries if there is a re-entry for that particular tournament).

Two games including stud hilow in my price range? I sure wish these things would go more often while I was there...
I will be back Friday and would love to play HORSE or any combination of the games at a level between 7.50/15 and 15/30.

Hi,

Does anyone know when the lounge closes tonight? I forget the name, the one where you need a black card to enter. I was thinking about taking a horrible date there, it's Tuesday. Thanks....

Amphora is the black card lounge/diner/buffet next to Mixx (down the escalators). Food is actually quite good and there is usually a solid selection. Tesoro is Borgata's private check-in/lounge for Titanium card holders.

If I recall, Harrahs and trop have a diamond club as well, but Borgata >>>>
