What is the difference between the Borgata vs Foxwoods? I live in NYC so it is about the same distance either way. Which place has the most fish during the daytime hours. Daytime is the best time for me to play.

We arrived in AC around 10:30 - 11pm and headed straight to Borgata after checking in at Bally's. I got on the list for 20/40, and it took me about an hour to get a seat. No big deal though, because I just played 10/20 while I waited. I also had my eye on the 40/80 game, and decided to get on the list for that as well.

The 10/20 game wasn't bad at all. In fact, after I moved to the 20/40 game and realized how tight of table it was, I had regretted leaving the good 10/20 game. But I stuck with the 20/40 game for a couple of hours. Most of the table played really well, and about two players played exceptionally well. I haven't been to Borg in about 3 years, and had never played with any of these players, but I suspected that some of the better players were 2+2er's. I certainly am not used to any tough competition, as I've been playing at Taj a lot the last few years, where even a monkey can beat the 20/40 game.

I decided to login to 2+2 from my iphone and check out this thread to pass some time, and noticed that I had a new PM. Much to my surprise, it said "Are you wearing a green shirt at the 20/40 game right now?" Indeed, I was the only player at the table with a green shirt! I hadn't even spoken to anybody at the table yet, much less mentioned anything about 2+2! I was unsure who it was at my table that sent this, but I presumed it was one of the two exceptional players that I had originally suspected were 2+2er's. I did not reply to the PM, or give off any signs at the table that I was alpine0000.

About an hour later, one of the players I suspected of sending the PM had moved over to my right, and said "Hey, do you have anything to do with an alpine something-or-other?". Vague enough to not give away 2+2, but direct enough that if it was me, I would know. Shocked, and not sure what to say (should I deny it, should I make a new friend. I was caught off guard and not sure how to answer it) I complied with "I could be. who are you?". We exchanged names and talked for a bit. He said that he saw my post saying I'd be in AC playing at Borg for the weekend, and apparently I was the only "unknown" at the table.

Anyways, you might have guessed that the game was horrible that night. After a couple of hours, I moved over and played some 40/80 for a bit, but it got short-handed, and wasn't very good (and I do love me some SH poker!). Deciding that I would just try to play in the pink chip game for the rest of the night (surely there's lots of action in that game, right?), I walked over to main podium to get on the list. Much to my disappointment, there wasnt a pink chip LHE game going. So I decided to call it a night and get to bed and hope for better games on Friday.

The game was a bit better Friday afternoon, but not too much. However, Friday and Saturday night the 20/40 games were a lot better, so I decided I would stick with them instead of playing 40/80. Then, it was like a dream come true on Saturday: I saw a "live" player that I used to play with at Taj sit down at the 40/80 game. I almost knocked 3 people over running to the podium to get on the list. I didn't end up getting to play with him though, as they called my name to sit at a shorthanded must move game that didn't look very good. And it didn't look like anybody at the main game was leaving any time soon, so I just stayed at my 20/40 game.

I saw Stan walk by my game at some point on Saturday afternoon and I introduced myself. He asked for my screen name on here, and then we talked for a bit, and he introduced me to Mabel. Stan is a really great guy, and he does a great job running the room at Borgata! I agree that we need to get this guy a raise, regardless of what he is currently paid!

I ended up playing a 15 hour session on Saturday. I was stuck about $1,000 when I was ready to quit Saturday night (sunday morning) around 2 or 3am. Then the game got shorthanded, and there was only 4 players left, and they couldn't even SPELL poker, so I couldnt leave yet, right? I played short-handed from sometime between 2-3am until 6am, and made back the $1,000 I was stuck, and then some Man, I wish I could play short-handed with those players every night!

Sunday I woke up and played 4 or 5 more hours of 20/40 before leaving.

All-in-all, I played 38 hours this weekend. I only wish it could have been profitable, but it's OK. I'll be back again soon!

WTF are they doing, allowing white chips, red chips or anything BUT pink chips in the PCG ?

The split SHOULD be, one extra chip goes to the regular position. what the hell is this "splitting" crap?

Do they seriously do this? I'm highly disappointed, if so.

Lower limits, yes. I'm not rolled enough to hang with you studs in the stratosphere!

and with a 1/2/3 structure, I'd expect it to be loose- it pays to be looser than normal, correct?

Pippen33, wasn't sure how to interpret this comment- do you mean "don't try to come out of your rock shell?" He's the one who asked me if I thought he was being too nittish in this spot.

Pink and whites play. It's mostly pink but they take a 5% rake up for $4. two pink chips are broken into 5 whites. They take the appropriate amt of rake and the rest of the whites (be it 1 or 4) go into the pot. because whites are shipped in a pot, they must be allowed to "play" in the game. That being said, they are usually just sitting next to players stacks of pinks. Sometimes for one bet ($7.50) a player will throw in 5 whites and a pink. The dealer then uses those whites for rake. I don't see a problem with 95% pink and 5% white. It's a raked game, not time charge. I agree with that. In an Omaha split pot game, less hands get played every half hour. That's why it's a rake and the Pink hold'em is a time charge.

Both PC games are rake.... currently 10% to $4, plus $1 for BBJ in PCHE.

The "break it down and chop it" split is a tradition from when the game first started back at the Trop, many years ago. Agree or disagree, that is the accepted method of splitting the pot and it's done that way in both PCHE and PCO8.

As I said, most of the dealers understand and do it automatically. Those that do not "get it" - are quickly instructed on how to do it, by at least one person at the table.

It's really not that big of a deal and the dealer usually has to chop up a couple pinks into white for the toke anyway - this just helps facilitate that.

I'll be up there this weekend as well. I'm heading up late Thursday night (from the DC area) and will be there until Sunday. I'll probably be playing the PC omaha and holdem games as well as the 10/20 and/or 20/40.

Yes, the game does play looser and although I play an aggressive game when I play a pot...my game isn't any looser because of the 3-tier structure. Reason being, the Ante:Bring-in ratio is still standard for a 15/30 stud game. Conversely, if the structures were reverse where the ante was high compared to the bring-in, then you would need to open up a bit more because there's more in the middle to fight for/worth stealing. But, because the high amounts are at the end of the hand (6th/7th) you should be playing a relatively tight/solid game, this way, you can pleasantly await the player(s) who'll be meeting up with you with their pair of 9's or their bad 8's etc., etc..cause this is where they really get punished, and, as long as these players are willing to take the heat at the end of the hand...then there's really no reason to play any looser at the front end.

When I played in the PCO8 game, almost none of the dealers were doing this, and almost all of the players seemed to think they were doing it right by giving the odd pink to the high and the odd white to the low, as opposed to getting a closer split by chopping another two pinks. It wasn't until several hours into the game that I even realized you get a closer split this way...when one player insisted that the dealer do it.

It doesn't really matter to me how the split is done. But there must be a clear and consistent rule that all dealers follow every time. As it was, the dealers were chopping the pots in whatever fashion the most insistent player at the table told them to, and this is easy to take advantage of.

Stan,
What are the chances of getting a poker rate on a friday or saturday night? I go to the Borgata about once a month, I love the place, but I always end up staying in Absecon becuase the rates are very cheap. I would love to stay at the Borgata however, but now sure if those poker rates are available or not. I never seem to have much luck when I call and talk to a hotel reservation staff member. Anyone else I should be speaking to? Thanks.

So, I'll be lighting that on fire this Friday. Drop by the PCG & say hi.

Why don't you try calling reservations? I'm not being facetious, I called earlier this week and got a poker rate for this weekend Thrs-Sun. I was actually surprised, given that I mostly play 1/2 and only rarely stray to table games.

It never hurts to ask. I'm sure it depends on your play history and the available rooms for the dates you want to visit.

Just last night, I landed on free parking during my appearnce on "High Stakes Monopoly" after Donald Trump was busted out when he landed on the Community Chest of a random Pacific Avenue floozie.

Unfortunately, when I roll out of the Borgata, its five bucks. What do I have to do to get this perk, other than humiliating the Donald?

Me 4.

Looks like maybe some of the comments on here resulted in some changes to the mailer? This one did not have the confusing "Enjoy a Complimentary Classic Room" wording (I don't play enough to score one of the free rooms, but the summer mailer seemed to imply that offer), and there is now a specific reminder to swipe out when you're done playing.
