It was a comped room. I didn't have more then 13 comp dollars on my card. I charged 140 dollar dinner and a 150 dollar spa treatment for the gf to the room. Fully expecting it to come out of the hold. The hold was released and I was never charged.I got a copy of my bill the night before check out and everything seemed okay. But I was never charged. My bank has record of the hold, but they never charged it and released the hold.

That is odd, normally they even take the room tax out of your comp dollars and if you have no charges the 150 is taken off the hold. Before you do anything. Calling attention to this may cause someone to loose their job, just as easily as if they catch the error. Tricky situation if you're trying to do the right thing, kind of explains why people don't do the right thing most of the time.

If you knew no one would get fired, it is easy to do the right thing.

meh, there is only one right thing to do in a situation where you made an agreement with a hotel and then they forgot to charge you. you should pay them what you owe.

Went in person to talk to the hotel manager at the Water Club and demanded they reverse the charges. After about an hour of pleading my case and threatening to file an AC fraud claim with my bank I was refunded the money. My suggestion would be to get on the phone with the Water Club and your bank and demand the money be credited to your account.

Borgata has lost all of my business. I am able to get a free room there everynight but I refuse to stay there b/c they do some shady stuff. It is too bad b/c I love the poker room for the most part.

I'm gonna have to disagree with this. I've spent 200 nights at borgata/water club in the past 2 years and never had any issues. Plus borgata lets you use comp $ to pay taxes, comp $ covers the gratuity on room service. Comp $ covers the gratuity at the spa. Every other place I stay at costs me real money in some way.

Not to mention I leave late 100% of the time and usually don't bother checking out. Never got charged for that either.

Having stayed at Borgata/WC myself well over 25 times, I never have had a problem. I do know that if you charge the 150/night security deposit to your DEBIT card it takes longer to get removed then if you use a credit card. I once had a hold on my Debit card for over a week and other times it has been removed by the time I drive home.

They never let me use comps at the spa/salon for gratuity.

There's a service charge on massages, that's the gratuity.

For the barber shop / salon it's not included.

Using a debit card is a bad idea (in general, not just for hotels) for a lot of reasons. Always use a credit card. I don't even have debit cards. I specifically requested ATM cards for all my bank accounts

This is not a water club issue but rather an issue when you use a debt card instead of a credit card.

I travel for business often. I usually use a credit card. However, sometimes I have to use my debt card (when I max out my credit card). Whenever I use a debt card, the hotel puts a "hold" on the amount of the security deposit. The money is in "limbo" for usually 3-5 days or longer. The security deposit doesn't go to the hotel, it is just on hold. Because of this, you can't access the funds either. I've also had this happen when I rent cars with a debt card.

The other downside to using a debt card vs. credit card is if the hotel does charge you for some bogus item (like the broken TV mention), you have little recourse but to deal with the hotel. The card company will not help at all. With a credit card you can put it in dispute.

The same is true if someone rips off your card number and runs up charges. It is not limited to $50. It is limited to whatever you have in your account at the time.

Unless you can afford to "float" the security deposit and are OK with the risk of someone ripping off your card number, use credit card whenever possible.

The charges for dinner and spa are a seperate matter.

FYI to avoid future confusion: "debt" and "debit" are two different words. When you use a credit card, you are in debt to the credit card company. Using a debit card does not put you in debt. Not trolling...it's just that introducing this misspelling/similarly-spelled word (with very different meaning) might not be helping to clear things up.

Either brick scam mentioned above or knock off scam. Guy paid something like $10 for the knock off and wants $160 from you. Might work great for a few days or even months if you are lucky. Like buying Rolox watch in Chinatown NYC for $25. "Almost the same" as a Rolex but not the real thing. In reality, it is not even close

Don't buy from guy in parking lot unless you want this lot to turn into the Taj lot.

You mean people will get mugged and stabbed in the lot and the bathrooms? Then the chips will get all cruddy and gross. Hey I just remembered why I don't go to the Taj anymore. Well that and the B was and is doesn't have these problems.

And it is the best run room in the east, with the best games, thanks Stan and Tab!

That's the difference between using a debit card and a credit card, pretty standard these days at hotels. The bank puts a hold on funds-the merchant doesn't receive it, but it is not available to you until released.

unless you can't or won't for some reason, get a credit card
