If you have a young looking face with facial hair you'll probably increase your chances of getting carded.

You guys aren't making any sense. Your'e saying that they're losing money on a slot machine so they removed some of them. First of all, they're not losing money on any slot machines. Second of all, if they were, they'd remove all of them.

[ x ] fail

a) how do you know the floor isn't saturated with slot machines?
b) for every place there is a critical mass of slot machines, beyond which each additional slot machine actually becomes a net loss to the casino (prior to this, each additional slot machine is a net gain). If you go past this critical mass (additional marginal cost of an additional slot machine exceeds additional marginal value) you pull back until marginal value>marginal cost. You don't just take them all down.

If you've never opened an econ book in your life, probably best not to tell others that they don't know what they're talking about regarding economics.

The last time I was there, I was carded at least 5 times a night (I'm over 30). They card much more than any other poker room I've ever been in. I actually don't remember ever being carded at any other room in AC, or Vegas. The Borgata definitely cards a good amount, in my experience.

Small Sample

You have 1000 Slot Machines

You have 650 Regular customers.

You are still paying $1000 per machine for the other 350 unused slot machines.

So yes, you would be losing money on those slot machines. And it would make sense to remove those 350.

Please, can someone confirm that Event #1 in the Summer Open has 15,000 starting chips? Is it really that deep?

Also, it seems that the earliest one can register is the morning of the 11th, starting at 8:00am. Any way to register the day before?

Thanks.

Actually, now that I see the information posted below, it does not appear that this is possible:

Friday, June 11 through Friday, June 25th: 8AM until Midnight (each day)
Saturday, June 26th through Wednesday, June 30: 8AM - 9PM (each day)
Registration until the end of Level 2 of this event.

Exactly what I was thinking. If it doesn't hit by the open I would expect for it to get pretty big.

Just came back from The Borgata where I played the only $1-2 PLO game. It was mostly shorthanded where there were four people up to six. Bought-in for $200 and cashed out three hours later with $1,527. Wow...and I was chipleader for a good two hours.

Just some highlight hands:
- I won a $600 pot with 2's full of J's on the river. One person had the flush on the turn. I went all-in on the turn with that two pair, not knowing that the board had a blantant club-draw!!!
- I won another $400+ when I called three shortstacked all-ins on the pre-flop. With pocket Q's as two of my four cards, I flopped at set of Q's....while another dude flopped a set of J's. The others mucked.
- I won another $500 when I flopped 5's full of A's while the other dude getting a massage turned 5's full of 8's.

After losing a few bucks I cashed out afterwards... Fun times.

BTW, I saw Stan walking around. But I didn't have time to say hello since I was so focused on the game. So...HI STAN! I was in my light orange polo sitting near the tournament podium. :-)

Stan,

Any chance that arrangements could be made to register for event #1 before the 11th? As it is, there is only 3 hours to register (and for poker players, making an 8:00am registration time is torture) before the event starts - with a likelyhood of several hundred entrants.

Being able to register the day before would be a huge help.

Thanks.

Lee

LOL! I choked on my coffee when I read this.

It's interesting how we rationalize our need or compulsion to gamble more by calling it "creative play" or metagame or somesuch. Some players love Omaha because it's the most forgiving game for compulsive gamblers; they can win with anything and sometimes they don't even know what they have which can be part of the fun.

Are you Asian, spicy? I was at that table too. I saw the Asian guy with the Brown University hat take a picture of his stack. It was roughly $1.5k. ... I was the donk with the gray hoodie (not up) and glasses sitting on about $800-900 in the 6-seat.

In addition to cutting the slot machine fees, I suspect this was a redesign to make the restaurant area more visible and less cluttered by slot players. It also gives the slot players more room and perhaps less stress.
