Just came back from a weekend at the B. Great weekend. Here's a quick trip report:

Anyway, I played Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Great action all three nights, especially Friday and Saturday.

Thursday night I played 1/2 and totally donked it up. Between a couple bad plays and some bad beats I lost a few buy-ins that night. Notable hand:

5d6d MP call a raise to $7 with 4 other players, only 1 behind me to act post-flop. This is only my 5th or 6th hand at this table. Flop comes Jc7d3h. 3 players check. I bet $27 into a pot of about $35 with my long-shot draw. BTN calls, other 3 fold. Turn 4d for the nut straight and open-ended SF draw. I bet $70 into the pot of $85. BTN calls. River Ad. I check BTN bets $110. I figure 50% I'm beat here, but can't fold in this position and call. He tables Jd9d for the higher flush.

Friday night the room was super-packed and I got seated at a great table with plenty of dead money.

Notable hands:

8c8h in EP with $450 in chips. Raise to $12. 2 callers. BTN re-raise to $40 with $170 in chips. Folds around and I call. Heads up to flop 4s8sAs. I'm first to act, hoping he had AK PF. Bet $100 and he re-raised all-in. Only $30 more to me, I call. He flips AA for set over set. Turn: 5h. River: 8d. Quad 8's over aces full for the win/bad beat.

30 minutes later AhAd UTG. Raise to $12 with $650 in chips. MP RR to $30 with $550 in chips. Folds around to me. I RR to $90. MP ships it AI for $460 more and I of course call. MP tables KK and board doesn't help him.

Saturday was my wife's birthday so only played that night. Room was packed again, and I arrived late after plenty of people had built quite large stacks. I sat at a table with a lot of money on it (average chip stack of at least $600 at 1/2 with big stacks over $1200). One guy is running the table playing a Tom Dwan-ish HSP Season 6 LAG style. Played over 90% of all pots and took down about 60% of them, most before show down. Frustrating to play against, but I was completely card dead and couldn't get anything going.

Sunday morning I arrived to the room and sat at one of the 3 or so 1/2 tables that were going at that time. 15 minutes later the BBJ hit a couple tables over from me.

I played in the Sunday Survivor tourney. Ran into my TPTK against bottom set in a limped pot on a rainbow flop early in the tournament. Lost about 25% of my stack by calling it down. Playing catch up after that with no decent hands and blinds/antes coming fast. Went out with about 1/3rd of the field left. Seemed like a good tourney though and I would play again.

Anyway, great weekend at the Borgata and continued props to Stan for running the best room in AC!

Yeah Stan, just who is handing out the free parking vouchers?

I checked the website, and all I am offered is a room at special poker rate. I will take the Borgata up on their offer if they can sub let my apartment. Meanwhile, I still need free parking...

I got the free parking coupon in the mail, 2 of them on the same flyer, one for Sept, one for Oct. Keeping my eyes open for Nov/Dec.

WTF? I havent' gotten free parking vouchers yet. I even stayed over last month and did a day trip a few weeks ago.

Stan... they should give you one on the way out (when you sign out) if your daily hours hits 8+ or something.

Today (Monday): $135,482.

Not a bad reset. Should be back to 180-190k by the time I get there on Nov 10th. I'm guessing slightly fewer people this weekend as many are taking kids trick-or-treating on Saturday eve.

funny. I guess they don't want to get too gimimcky.. it would detract from the "high standards" as (one of) the premier poker room on the east coast.

I mean you could do Aces cracked, spin the wheel, etc.

I did like when they did the hourly gift give away, but one person out of the entire room... not much reason to show up.

Also seems like the $250k giveaway's dried up.

They added a $30 sit-n-go, which is a joke really. The survivor events are interesting, but honestly it plays like a normal tournament until down to the final 4 tables or so. Then I'm sure it grinds down to a slow finish.

There's only so much they can, and should do, to get more people to show up.

I actually think the PA casino table games (including poker) coming in the next 6 months may help AC. People around PA will go to these 12-15 table rooms and get a taste. They will like the game, hate the room, and decide to go to the proper place to play.

I assume/hope The Borgata will put some billboards near the casinos.

I've already seen ads from the Trop iirc on 78. It was definately one of the AC casinos.

Question about getting down from NYC: Do you have any buses that run direct to the Borg? Do you throw some money back for playing? Is there a better way to get down?

havent taken the bus in a while but,

there are buses that go to the borgata, but i usally take the 32?(maybes its the 33?) bus from port authoirty, then hop on the jitney from the ac terminal, which is like $2.5. round trip bus fare is $35 assuming you come back with in 10 days.....

Anyone know a similar answer for Philly? I am moving to Center City and can walk to the Greyhound Station. IMO taking a bus > driving, especially when I'm coming home from long sessions late at night or early in the morning.

You could take the train too if you'd like:
http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/rail/r0090.pdf

Free jitney to the borgata but you gotta time it just right on the way home...or you could always take the other routes to the train station.

Speaking of the ACES train - anyone have an idea if the Borgata comps the ACES train fare? Would love to take this over the bus but its -$60 or so on the trip for a round trip from nyc.

Stan, question for the $5/$10 game...I know you can't do things like run-it-twice, etc....but are players allowed to make deals? let's say two players are all-in preflop $1K each for a 2K pot...can they make a deal before the dealer puts out the flop, regardless of what the eventual board may end up being? (I am assuming that a board MUST be dealt by the dealer for the cameras, etc.? ...what about making a deal after the flop is dealt and both players are all-in?
