I just want to make sure I'm getting this right...
I think it should be similar to the buy in at Mohegan Sun which is $200-$800.
Even $200-$700 would be fine.

I don't consider this doing away with the current $2-$5 game which I play practically on daily basis. Simply a way to get a little more money onto the table so those trying to can make a little better living at it.

Stan

This is not a reason to not raise the min buy in buy $100 and the max by $200. Stan was talking about trying to create a brand new limit when he said the above. I don't see how that answers the question why he wont raise the existing $2-$5 limits a little. He still has not answered it.

On another note. I ended my $2-5 NLHE a few minutes ago with a sick bad beat.

- All eight players including myself limped-in for $5. I had J-7 Suited.
- FLOP: 8-J-9 Rainbow
- Middle position bets $15. One call so far.
- I went all-in with $68 remaining.
- Everyone else folded until it came back to the guy next to me who originally called the $15. With $600+ behind, he decided to call with his A-Q offsuit.
- TURN: 7
- RIVER: 10

Me: J-J-7-7-10
That dude: Q-high straight on the river.

I left dumbfounded and crushed. Anyways, I'll be in pre-registration around 10ish. If I'm lucky enough to land "in the money", I'll come back to the cash games later in the evening. Otherwise, I mostly lost my bankroll budget from last night/early this morning...and I'll be available for drinks and networking. Hehehe!

On an average we have (10) 2-5 Nl games at the Borgata. Everywhere else in the city will average less than (2). If its not broke why fix it. Yes there are some players here that have voiced their opinion about raising the buy-ins. What about the other thousands of players that are just average Joe players that are not on 2+2. I will put the 3-5 NL game on the board today with the $200 to $1000 buy-in. Let's see how many non 2+2 players put their name on the list. I would doubt very many. If it goes, it will be a game frull of rocks and will break within an hour or two of starting. This comes from experience, not just my opinion.

Wouldnt that be a straight on the board? And then his Q plays as a higher straight? I know the feeling; last Thursday, the same thing happened to me. I had QJ on the button and big stack at table raised preflop (he was BB) after I had limped and I called. Flop was K 10 9 rainbow. He goes all in and I snap call and he shows me AKo, only to have the board run out a Q & J for him to make the A-high straight. Stupid variance...

Thanks for responding Stan.

As has already been discussed 3-5NL is not a standard game and has had a difficult time gaining momentum. Many players are not even aware of it. Plus putting on the board on a Tuesday....one of if not the slowest day of the week is giving the game little if any chance.

The $2-$5 is not broke. But my making a slight adjustment to it you will be helping out many of your core players that have supported your poker room from the very beginning. Those that are trying to make a living at poker but are barely able or can't alone on poker because there is not enough money on the table to do so. In $5-$10NL good players can make and hourly that provides a pretty decent living but many $2-$5NL players either don't have the bankroll, risk tolerance or skill to make the jump. Raising the min and max buy-ins just a little will help out the group of players that have been loyal to you. Are you fearful of losing a couple players?

There is always a big stack or two in the games and guys who buy in for $200ish still sit so I don't think that would change. If fact I think many $2-$5 players like it when they see tables that havea little extra $ on it. That's all I'm proposing. Raise the min-max a little bit to get a little more money out there.

Please think about this.... For guys trying to do this for a living or supplement their income.... would it hurt so much to thow them a bone and give them a better chance to do so? Thanks.

I think Stan has already responded to this a couple of times and it's pointless lobbying for it. The $2/5 game is currently good as it is so what's the point of changing it? You make so many assertions in that post that have no real foundation. Move up, play $3/5, or go to MS...

Agreed.....how many times does he need to answer? How many valid reasons is enough?

The complaint is 3-5 isn't "standard" so all the "lesser" players will just play 2-5 500MAX and he'd be stuck at the 3-5 with grinders....AKA a tougher game.

Seems insanely selfish. Heyyyy, um can you do away with your current 2-5 game? Can you make it 1K max...and if possible, can you heard recreational players to my game....but only if they want to buy in with 500+ (and have a few extra bullets in their pocket).

The Borgata gets what, 12 2-5 games going Fri/Sat nights and SUnd? Does any casino in America have double digit 2-5 games going? I know Vegas doesn't.

I'd argue that this isn't even "if it's not broke, don't fix it"...it's more "if it's not broke, don't break it". It would def break the game (severely damage the player pool).
