I'm a huge fan of stud8 at times it is my favorite game to play, tons of strategy and a lot of interesting spots. Not to mention you can have a huge edge against people who play badly.

In case your not aware, it is unethical to purposely walk in mix games on particular games you either don't like or are bad at. If you plan on doing so you should not even sit in the first place.

Indeed. I've never really understood why people are playing in the mix game if they don't want to play the mix. I guess its cool if there's no list and no alternative game - but otherwise it seems like kind of a jerk move.

As I said, I only play the OE game when there is no alternative. If an Omaha game is going, I'll wait for a seat there (unless there is a long list and no wait for the OE game). Me playing in the Omaha only game is better for everyone. I get to play more (instead of the 30 minute break after every hour) and somebody else can sit at the OE game that might actually want to play during that half hour of stud. But if the only Omaha game going is the OE game, then that's where I'm going to play. The last couple times I've been up to AC, I've actually spent some time over at the Taj because I know they have an Omaha game going where as the Borgata hasn't had one going reliably. And even if one is going, there's no telling when it will break. The last time I was there, it broke 10 minutes before I got there.

On a side note, if more people were willing to take 5 minutes away from the game they are playing when a new table/game is called, maybe new games/tables would get started more often. I can't count how many times I have gone over to a table where a new game was called only to have people come over, see that nobody else is there, then leave. If all those people would just sit down for a few minutes, we could get the game going. This is something that just really irritates me. I think this is the reason it is sometimes hard to get an Omaha or pink Hold'em game going. Also, if people would remove their name from the lists when they leave, it would help keep the lists fresh and manageable. Sometimes there are 10 names on the list, but half of them have been there for 10 hours and those people aren't there any more.

How early has the 3/6 LHE game got started in the morning these past couple of days?

Thinking of playing one last mini-session before the new year on Thursday, but I would have to leave around 3PM in order to be home for a dinner. Last time I was there, it did not get started until 11:30AM. No point driving over just for a couple hours if it is not getting started until almost noon. Just hoping it has been opening at like 9AM or 10AM.

Can someone explain to me how the survivor tournaments work?

At the end of each level they lop off a certain percentage of players who are low on chips? Is that correct? Is there some sort of warning system?

This sounds weird to me. Is this a good tournament? What is the rationale behind this structure?

If I recall, 10% get paid 10x the buy-in. For example, if the buy-in is $300 (+ the fee) and there are 100 people, then the final 10 each get $3,000 each. This is instead of a top-heavy pay out structure where the bottom paid person barely gets their buy-in back and first place gets almost half the price pool. I like this payout structure because if I don't get knocked out in the first few rounds, I tend to make it to the money, but have never placed above 4th. For those that consistently finish in the top few spots, this wouldn't be the best payout structure for them since they would usually be making more than this. But if you regularly finish in the money, but don't get at least 10x your buy-in back, then this would be a good stucture.

Thanks.... I'll have to give this a try. Haha but I have always wanted to play a tournament where the winner gets 100% of the money... which will never happen except for in a single table satellite.

While waiting, I decide to torture myself at a 1-2 NLHE table. Fortunately I was rescued after only 15 mins when then called a second (must move) Pink H/O8 game. I played that for just over 2 hours and turned a rack into $440. $190 up. I left cause at appox 9:30 they called the PLO game. I played til 4pm Sund. Took $1,900 out of the game (brag). I was in the 5 seat. Hello to anyone that was playing...it was def a good time. My friend just texted me and said the game finally broke. That's close to 38 hours. 9:30 Sat til 11am Monday. Wow...hope that becomes standard.

Good signs:

A THIRD Pink H/O8 game started and got 7 players I think. 2 full games and a 3rd 70% full is VERY rare.

PLO running close to 40 interupted hours

Damn I love that room. I'll be back this Thursday night and Friday. See you all then.

PS, I didn't get to play with any of you regular Pink Chippers (some ARGERs ??) as you guys were at the main table. I was second on the list to come over and never did...maybe i'm glad I wasn't as the money was probaly easier to get at my must move table. I already know Todd (he was in seat 8) but look foward to meeting some of you other guys/girls sometime soon.
Just got back from the Borgata and I was just going to post the same comments about how unique (I've never seen that before, personally) it was that the PLO had gone straight for so long (overnight for TWO nights.) I had to take a short nap twice, but was there the rest of the time.

The next PLO game played short for a few hours. So disappointing.

But after a bunch of slow PLO weekends in December, I'm hoping this weekend turns the continuous game into a trend.

I pretty much live for PC O8 and 1/2 PLO, with my name on the List of Interest 24/7 on weekends.

I was in that game. And that Asian guy with the monster stack and Hello Kitty thingie, man, I remember him. Winning the high side or scooping with 2nd pair in multi-way multi-raise/multi-street hands. Crazy.

Oh wait, that was me.

LOL...well it was cool playing with you. I was the Jewish guy wearing a hat right across from you...the 5 seat if I remember correctly. I had my chips in $75 stacks.

I wish I could get down there more often....but I have a Boss...I mean wife to deal with. I'll be back in a few weeks and say hi if I see you.

I don't know why I am so afraid of the pink game. Maybe cause I have no idea how to play anything besides NL and PLO and I've never even played PLO live. Game always looks fun though. Just think with my luck I'd sit down for my first session and be stuck with a bunch of grumpy regs. Glad to see it caught on as it's cool to bring a part of 2+2 to the B.

I don't think there's such a thing as a PLO reg yet. I don't remember a single grumpy person in the game this weekend. It was a great time. You should def sit next time you're down. Did you mean Pink regs? I don't like LHE but if the pink game is half O8 or ALL O8 I def sit. Doesn't seem like all regs to me. I'm a huge fan of the PLO and pink O8 games....just cause I'm so burned out on NLHE. It's a nice break.

What's NOT fun is when PLO breaks and I don't want to go home so I get a 1/2 or 2/5 NLHE seat.....borrrrrrrrrrrrrrring. haha

I'll be in the room at about 1:30am tomorrow night through all day Friday. There's a good chance PLO will be going...should be packed.

Stan, the BBJ went from $74,488 on Mon to $90,875 on Tues and now $109,171 on Wed?!

That's huge! 16-18k each day on a Mon and Tues...
If only 70% of the drop goes to the current jpkt- that's $25000 in a one day drop. That need 50 eligible tables going for 24 full hrs (500 hands per tbl over 24 hrs).

Are you seeing this kind of action this week (on a Tuesday)?

We could see 300k in 2 weeks at this rate.

A lot of professionals have this entire week off. Or are taking Wed/Thur off, using all of their accrued PTO or time off before it expires before the end of the year.

And of course Wed usually will have 200-400 players in, larger guarantee draws in the larger crowd, especially for a $100+20 tourney

(not even a flop bet in some games...)

So you will definitely have some blasters (like me) whom try to chip up before the break, or just leave bust out before the break. I have offically made it past the first break once...

The games have been quite filled recently. IIRC, there were 45 tables going on Christmas! I was there Monday and there were 50-60 tables going and I expect there the B to near capacity from now until New Year's. I'll likely be down some time on New Year's Day watching the bowl games and hopefully playing 1-2 PLO. I may convince myself to go play the 15k tonight tho.

I think I count as a PLO reg, and there's a couple others who I consider that. Along with half a dozen people who are liable to play if they are there, but aren't grinders.

And I'll be down tomorrow/Friday all day each. Either 10/20 LHE or 1/2 PLO....getting the PLO itch again, haven't played it much this month really.

Yea I'm still confused about all the different PC games that run. I'd be a total dead money fish but I'll look into getting on the list next time I can budget off a buy-in for it.

I think I asked this before but what are the usual stack sizes in the PLO game? 500 a standard buy-in? I want to know what I should budget for a shot at this game too. Just for fun not for grinding obv.

The default pink games are single game only (Holdem, Omaha8, and occasionally Stud8).

The mixed games are generally created by a group of people who are coming to play that mix - it a slightly more coordinated plan than just showing up and signing up to a PC waitlist. That's what happened with the HOE last month and the HO this weekend.

For the 1/2 PLO the legal buyin is $100-$500. You'll see everything in that range.
