Stan, do you know by chance if the Borgata will be running sattelites for the August 2-5 event? Will you run sats even on Aug 2nd for the 1B start? If so how much would they be? Kind of a longshot but I'm headed up there for that week, and won't arrive until August 2nd (Also can't put up 1500 so would need to sat. in). Appreciate the info.

Man, I was thinking about heading down there today but didn't want to play NL and figured there was a decent chance there wouldn't be a 5-10 game.

Odd/funny
Don't remember her name, but she was working the plo, two way game area. I ask for one of the tv's to be changed to Nascar (yes, I'm a fan). She responds. I'm not putting that hick stuff on my tv's, no way. Then she continued to make fun of me about it. Seemed a little out of place for a floor to act that way, but I didn't mind it. 8 tv's ended up changing to Nascar a few mins later which was cool.
haha dude last year I got crap for wanting to turn on the talladega nationwide race. I was thinking to myself like wtf it's a sport there are 27 TVs showing CNN how the hell do you watch CNN without sound?

Stan, just curious...

How is the BBJ split at Borgata. I noticed when it was hit the other day, it was reseeded at, IIRC $80k+.

I'm assuming this means that some portion of the BB money collected every day goes into a "refresh fund" to help it remain high after it gets hit.

Perhaps the breakdown is something like this?

80% directly into the bad beat jackpot.
15% set aside to re-seed when it hits.
5% for advertising or other administrative costs.

I know I've heard people speculate how it breaks down at the table. Who better to ask than the king himself?

I'll guess:

50% into the jackpot
15% into the next jackpot
35% into the craps table when Stan clocks out

Hmmm, interesting theory but you're forgetting one major thing: Stan obviously never clocks out!

I think the BBJ at Borgata is split 70% current jackpot/30% next jackpot.
Other casinos do this as well, but the typically split is more like 80/20.

It is 70/30. The 30% reserve is great because it creates a nice starting amount for the new BBJ when it is hit. I believe all the other AC properties are 80/20.

Only thing I am not 100% sure of is when the BBJ is hit twice in the same day. After the first BBJ is hit, the 30% reserve amount would become the starting amount for the new BBJ. When it hits a few hours after that, technically there is no reserve jackpot at that point to fund the next BBJ. So what may happen is Borgata (or another casino) may choose to advance funds to have a "minimum BBJ", say $20,000. Borgata (or another casino) will recoop the money they put up to fund the "minimum BBJ" by taking a certain percentage (usually 10% is average) until the casino has been paid back in full.

Also, I could be wrong, but I believe you can not pay for advertising/administrative costs for the BBJ out of the BBJ funds received. I believe this is a NJCCC thing. Therefore, every dollar that comes in, must be paid back out to the players.

Played in the 300 + 40 tourny on sat., great time. This was my first live tourny, I'm mostly an online & live s&g (Borgata) type of player. As card dead (I hate when people say that, but I really was) as I was, small ball strategy & nice comfortable 30 min levels kept me in there. Got knocked out around 25th, & if I had ANY cards (ak once & highest pair was 10's in about 4 & 1/2 hours), I would have fared much better. The reason I picked this tourny was because of the structure, and it really played very, very nice. Can't wait to do it again.

It didn't hurt that I played 1/2 right after and made my tourny buy in back by time the fireworks started.

the money that's actually distributed for BBJ is done 40-20-40 fwiw. (loser-winner-rest)

Also, I think I'm gonna become a live pro. 5/10 and 10/20 players are lolbad

Last edited by Jennifer Garner; 07-06-2009 at 04:47 PM. Reason: the person who won the BBJ hand lost 20 out of the 30k at table games lol

Rude (very rude)
There was a two-way game running. The two-way players decided to change the game to omaha h/l only, $10/$20. Then a long list was created for this game, so they called a must move omaha h/l $10/$20 game. And also called this same table for a $10/$20 two-way game. 7 players showed up, and we all wanted to play two-way. One of the floors came over and said we CANNOT play two-way, as it would conflict with the Omaha game. All of the players were arguing that we have 7 willing two-way players, why not let both a two-way and omaha h/l game run at the same time? He said, stud8 only, or omaha h/l only. One of the players started racking up due to the rudeness of the floor, but I ended up talking everyone into $10/$20 Stud8. He was being very adamant about having it his way, or no way. Just last week, they were running both a two-way and omaha h/l.

"I'm the worst ****ing player ever":
Villian (black lady) and me playing $15-30-45 two way at the Taj. I'm on a low draw, with multiple people in the hand. I make my low on 6th, and catch trips on 7th. I bet out $45, she calls with her aces up, and I show 3 4's to scoop a nice pot. She gets mad, grabs her chips, and walks out. Hmmm, didn't mean to make her leave, just got lucky on the river. 4 hours later, I'm back at the Borg, in the Stud8 game. Villain is now sitting to my right. 3 players in the hand (only me going low), I make 4 to a low on 4th, and call a bet on 5th when I catch a pair of 2's with 4 to a low draw. She checks 6th street, as do I (haven't hit yet). On 7th, I catch another 2. She bets out with her aces up. I call and turn over the rivered 2 to again river her for the scooped pot. She goes ballistic, saying, "OMG, you did that to me again, you're the worst ****ing player ever" as she picks up her chips and leaves the table.

But all in all, was a fun day in AC.

The Borgata Fireworks show was great.
Someone said that to me this weekend too after I squeeze AKcc from the BB to 135, utg+1 folded and CO pushed 1k/2400 and i shipped my 2500 stack (5/10).
