This sounds exactly like the last BBJ on July 3rd when one person was absent from the table. In that instance at least one of the tablemates wouldn't chip in. A big debate over tipping and fairness ensued. Example: If absentee was at the table, cards fall a completely different way, and no BBJ occurs.
Always thought that the BBJ payoff should be approached similar to a tournament in that not only the last dealer was tipped a "reasonable amount", but the staff was also tipped through the poker room manager. The % up to the individual player. What is right is right.
Granted, you have built the jackpot with your hourly tokes, but a lot goes into accumulating and tracking the Jackpot. Takes way more than one dealer to perform the service.
