I find The Borgata as a hotel to be overpriced and not worth it. You can pay 300 dollars for a room and they charge you for a tooth brush, which even a hotel 6 will comp you if you ask. They also aren't very cool about comps, I play there a couple times a month and still haven't even gotten any sort of discount. Harah's is preferable IMHO and it's a 7 dollar cab ride, at most.

I've never stayed there but if your looking for a cheaper option that's close by try the Golden Nugget.

The Borgata is the most expensive hotel in Atlantic City - because it's by far the nicest hotel in Atlantic City by far.

For poker players - as a rule - if you give them a fair amount of time at the table - their Comps are VERY generous. If you play a several hour session - I'm sure you won't see much of a discount - if your average daily play if significient - you will anywhere from decent discounts to free rooms.

I do agree with you that Borgata's prices are expensive - especially in the summer/weekends - if you are not getting Comped or deeply discounted rooms. I would not pay the non-discounted rates they charge this time of year on the weekends.

Lucky for me that I spend a lot of time at the poker table each trip and like many of us who post on this site - I get free rooms each visit - including weekends.

For someone like me - who plays longish poker sessions - The Borgata is the only place to stay and lucky for me - I have never forgotten to take a toothbrush with me.

Look up GN rates right now. For NYE they wanted 2500. A regular room. Borgata wanted half that much. Priced not comped.

If you're not being comped at Borgata you're doing something very wrong. Even the lowest limit players get sun-thu 2 days a week with volume. Saturdays you're not sniffing during the summer without serious volume at 2/5+.

Lol wat? I play/stay at Borgata roughly 4-5 days a month, and have never paid for a room unless a holiday or if I'm lazy and don't want to go home or something. In those situations, most I've ever paid is 100$ for the night. For Labor Day weekend (Thurs-Sun) I'm paying a grand total of 100$.

For a hotel/casino of the Borgata's caliber, there is nowhere in the country that is more generous to poker players. You should enjoy it while it lasts, as AC gets sicker/more casinos close the comps may get tighter and tighter.

Listing what prices you pay for your hotel rooms without describing your poker activity or slot/pit action is worthless.

Saying the Borgata hotel prices for summer weekends are overpriced is obvious.

I don't give the pit any action. It has been spelled out multiple times in this thread what you need to do poker wise to get free weekends/reduced rates. That is what I do, and I didn't feel like repeating the formula for the 800th time.

My overall point was that saying the Borgata has bad comps is dumb when there are literally 0 other casinos that take care of their players like the borg IME. If someone knows of another I'd be interested in checking it out.

Comped sun-fri 2 nights a week. Mostly 2/5 nlh and 2/5 plo. 8 to 12 hour sessions 4-6 sessions per month plus some 50 cent video poker. Winter my volume increases to 3X per week.

I play an 11- or 12-hour day of 1/2 once or twice a month. I've had comped Fridays and Saturdays available all summer, even holiday weekends. I thought the weekends might dry up after Memorial Day, but they didn't.

Borgata poker treats its players better than any other room in the country hands down.

There is no 1/2 Super. 1/2 is a 60-300 buy-in.

2/5 is a 200-500 Buy-in. There is a 2/5 Super which doesn't run often - but it has 1,000 max buy-in.

I will get Saturday if i call and ask but not on the website. I wonder if the extra 2 hours per session really matters.

it's apparently based on comp dollars/day average.

i've played there 8 days this year (all since April) but my comp dollars/day average is >$17. i get any night at Borg and lose only selected Saturdays at WC

the responses here say it all... all in response to one commenter making bad claims.

there is no casino in all of america that is more generous with comps, specifically for poker players, than borgata. it's also the nicest casino hotel in the city so prices will be set accordingly (though caesars usually has a more expensive listed rate).

also, re the toothbrush thing... does harrah give free toothbrushes? typically the more high-end a hotel, the more they'll start dinging you for little things (toiletries, wifi, movies, etc). the lower end motels will include them as they're fighting for your business rather than you wanting to stay there as a destination.

Does the comp dollars/day thing count comp dollars from all games, or only poker?

Its all based on theoretical loss. So ya a combo of poker and pit shojld work on website. If you ask poker host she's gonna go off your poker hours. $100ish a day in rake is a free room.

On a different topic....here is an incident this past Saturday:

So... I'm at Borgata playing 1/2 on Saturday around noon on table 4. Most people have been there a while although I had only recently arrived. One guy looked pretty drunk/tired and was playing pretty loose and cursing but not aggressive. Kind of a.... HappyDrunk.

After loosing a few hands.... I watched HappyDrunk metamorphosize into AngryDrunk. He started berating a player mercilessly and pelting him with f-bombs. The dealer calls the floor-guy who listened to the story... took one look at AngryDrunk and gave him a 30-minute penalty to cool off. The floor-guy walks back to his station and AngryDrunk follows him and get's in his face (nose to nose) telling him he can shove his 30 minute penalty right up his etc etc. AngryDrunk then returns to the table, picks up his half-empty beer bottle and throws it a good 20-25 feet at the floor-guy. It misses him but almost hits a player at another table. Several Borgata security guys arrive quickly and the floor-guy tells AngryDrunk that he's going to jail.

AngryDrunk starts collecting his chips and begins to walk away but security is in his way. AngryGuy pauses for second...slowly looks around... steps to the side...and then... (amazingly)... makes a run for it! I think the Borgata security guys were so surprised, they let him get a few steps ahead before (like an old "keystone cops" movie) gave chase through the poker room! AngryDrunk might have had a chance to escape had he just been "Angry" but his inebriated state coupled with probably 12+ hours of poker playing are not conducive to an athletic gait and he slips on the polished floor near the exit sending hundreds of chips in the air... and gets gang-tackled by security.

I have to say that I give Borgata high marks.
They handled the situation well.

I was in the room and saw (I believe I was at table 10 at the time) and saw the entire situtation. The floor person who was almost hit with the bottle is by far one of the best & nicest floor people they have.

Glad no one got hurt and I was happy to see everything handled well under the circumstances.

What happened to the chips?

Story would be A+ if degen mob swarmed chip scrambles and all hell broke loose.

Or maybe floor guy splashes pots with them.
