Depends on your boss, I just have to buy the team coffee/breakfast and its forgotten. Sure if I made a habit of it they'd bring it up more seriously. I'm almost always one of the first in the office though so I've built a lot of goodwill in the department.

I'm late every day... But everyone who sits near me is about 15mins later. It depends on your job obv, if you make up the time I doubt anyone will care too much.

I've also had to change my alarm pretty regularly because I kept getting too used to it. Luckily (!?) I live with gf who wakes me up a lot

Yeah, build up credibility to protect you.

And also it's probably better to find some other reason that you were late rather than that you slept through your alarm (if it's going to happen repeatedly). The obvious retort is set better/louder/more numerous alarms.

Don't stay at £1/£1 for too long! The rake combined with the tendency for other players to play passively and buy in short will impact hugely on your winrate! Get up to £1/£2 as soon as you feel comfortable.

Just got home after a big weekend of poker at the Vic. Played well and the results came with it.

Friday: +£124
Saturday: +£257
Sunday: +£706

Really happy with how things are going, I'm really enjoying the game and I'm having to tear myself away every time! I was convinced to play one of the MTTs at the Vic on Saturday and it was a laugh but it really just confirmed that I prefer playing cash. I'd love to enter and play a few bigger MTTs with better structures in the future, side events at stuff like UKIPT stops etc.

My boss is away this week and I'm covering a lot of her work which is going to keep me busy. I'm going to keen playing every day hopefully, working towards having enough points to play the loyalty freeroll in a month or so.

I've passed the £2k profit mark, onwards and upwards from here!

Yeah I know your right but I'm still relatively new to live CG, so I have to get used to the field, the dynamic and everything, but yeah as soon as my BR allow me to I will move up to 1/2 and join you into the fun !

Like Chloe said, try to move up to £1/£2 as soon as you can. £1/£1 is such a rake trap and shortstackers make it very hard to be decently profitable. Cut your teeth, learn the tricks of the trade and then take the shot

It can be hard even to build a roll in £1/1. It's worth the investment to save up outside of poker for a £1/2 roll.

I'm not sure about £2/5 shots but maybe £1/3 in the future. I'm meeting my backer this week, hopefully today to work out a long term plan. I have some ideas about how I'd like to structure the deal but we'll see how things go.

My medium term goals are to keep improving my game, have the option of playing 1/3 as well as 1/2 and keep hitting enough points to play the loyalty freeroll.

Longer term I'd like to be playing 2/5 and 5/10 regularly and focus more of my time on poker. I'd also like to begin to move towards having more of my own action as I build my own bankroll, as well as looking into staking myself a lot further down the line.

Just had a great meeting with Ben, hashed out the details of our long term deal and I'm over the moon. My share will increase as the profit increases working towards a 50/50 split. My game selection is more open, 1/2 and 1/3 are ok, focus will be on 1/2, only sitting 1/3 in good spots. No more 1/1.

Loyalty freerolls will be handled separately on a fair split as well.

Next goal is to work towards £10k profit, can't wait to hit the tables!

Back from the Vic, not a great evening, -£259 I think. Nothing really happened, got it in against a short stack with a pair and a flush draw on the turn and bricked, raised a fair bit pre and whiffed a lot of flops. Nothing much to report unfortunately.

Did have a guy open raise to £75 at £1/2, get raised to £85 by the BB, snap calls and shows AA. Standard 37.5x open...

Another loss this evening I'm afraid to report. I talked over the hands with Ben over the evening and room for improvement in some places, playing good in others. I'm sure (I hope) he'll let me know if he thinks I'm -ev in the games!

-£194 for the evening.

I haven't been feeling the greatest the last few days, had a bad cough which won't seem to shift alongside some other random symptoms. I'm putting it down to adjusting to a new life schedule which is pretty taxing but should I should settle into it over time. I'll keep dosing up on cough medicine until then

All the best.

-£240 last night.

I think one of the key things to deal with as a live cash player is that you're not going to win every session, especially if you play a lot of shorter sessions as I do during the week. It should be seen as as much of a win on the days when you play well, keep disciplined and minimise your losses as when the cards come your way and you take all the money home.

It is really important to focus on quality of play rather than financial results, there will be breakeven/losing periods and they do extend for a period of time in live poker as your hands per hour is so low. I'm down around £700 this week but I feel I'm not getting out of line or spewing trying to make that back, the cards and spots will come and I'll make the most of them when they do.

Unlucky. Live variance is a bitch. You still playing online or are you concentrating on live play now?

I'm concentrating on live play now, I really don't have time to play online. Doing 50+ hours at work and 40 hours of poker a week. I don't think I've spent more than 1-2 hours in my flat except for sleeping in the last 3 weeks lol.

Variance is tough but I'm focusing on making sure I'm playing well rather than being too focused on results. I'm rolled to play through tough periods but I'm keen to start sticking more numbers in the positive column. Might get a whiteboard for my room at home and chart my progress towards the next goal of £10k.
