I feel like I'm 100

Watched a friend of mine playing 25/50/100 on Live at the Bike with Polk and some others. So pleased to see them doing well and reaping the rewards of having put so much into their game and grinding hard in London.

Makes me wish I was playing more and had put more time into the game. I guess I'm going to have to be happy with playing the long game in finance and aspiring to be a rich fish in the games in the future.

I'm not suggesting I could be playing at that level but seeing what the guys I was playing with a couple of years ago have achieved if giving me some serious FOMO and 'what could have been' feelings.

Did you know there's a video of Doug Polk 3betting 86s OTB vs Alec Torelli who opens MP? Polk loses a $24k pot basically.

Any how, river is weird. I guess he has a set pretty often (Torelli had JJ in the hand too) and I don't see many bluffs this guy has taking this line. Don't see much 7x here tho either. Don't really think it matters what button you press on the river (obv not raise).

I think it's possible but discounting at least KK+ since no 4bet pre.

please dont listen to durrr he is broke

I dont see him taking this line w worse very often, however it could be a blocking bet w something that has reasonable showdown value. What stakes is it?

Apologies, this was at the micros. 5nl. Would be interested to hear if this was at £1/2-2/5 live as well.

Internet is being installed in the new place on Wednesday so should be able to start watching videos again and seeing some of Ben's streams. Am likely going to be playing the Pokerstars Live Series Event weekend after next and will be selling action on here, will give a HU if so.

This is something I'm trying to do more with my stronger hands and get money in earlier. Obv spot dependent but think I need to work on my approach.

Rome!

As I mentioned I wanted to make a post about a great weekend in Rome, I'll try keep it brief and just put some pictures in instead of words but ask me anything and I'll try answer.

My had an early start out of London and I was feeling a little worse for wear after a fun evening with Acidhaus in the £1/1 at the G in Leicester square. We were both flying the next day so tried to keep it civilised but one thing lead to another and we were doing plenty of vodka shots at the table.

Trip was pretty uneventful, had a lovely ride into Rome in a new A8L, always been more of a Mercedes man when it comes to large saloons but these days all three of the big German marques are making great cars.

We dumped our stuff in the room and after a quick look around we headed to the bar for a couple of drinks before heading out. The bar was amazing and very traditionally decorated, drinks were good too.

First on our walk we found the Spanish Steps...

Before heading to the Hotel de Russie (can't not take the Russian girlfriend here). This place is beautiful during the day. It's hard to see in the dark but there are gardens and beautiful buildings up behind the terraced courtyard.

Next day was The Vatican, the favourite thing we did on the trip. I was raised a Roman Catholic so definitely something I have always wanted to see. We had a fantastic guide called Sal and although we focused mainly on the artwork we still got a feel for the more historical and religious aspects. I'm definitely keen to go back and see more of the Basilica and other places important in Catholic history.

Photos are never going to do the Basilica justice, it's something you simply have to see for yourself, it is vast.

Other highlights:

Trevi Fountain:

Colliseum:

Questionably named hotel....:

Make your own Magnum:

It was one of the best weekends of my life and we did so much else, if anyone is interested we have some great bar and restaurant recommendations!

All the best from Rome!

Just read the entire thread, can't believe I haven't found it before now. I'm sure I will have played with you at some point. Very inspirational thread and has made me keen to put in more live volume at 1/1. GL, subbed.

Thanks, means a lot and I'm really glad you enjoyed it!! I guess it's likely we've played together, I used to play a lot at the Vic

I will say 1/1 is not a good long term proposition, the rake is awful. Good fun for weekend shot taking for a laugh but need to look to move up quickly.
