I always thought it a good idea to match the stakes I play to my ability, rather than what I could play (although I have occasionally played higher). But yeah, hopefully not playing micros for too long!

Started the stake, down in $ but in terms of buyins going OK. Had some great feedback from by coaches on hands being played and the general chat is as good as it ever was last time I was with them!

Feeling good and moving back to 10nl.

Found someone to take my bet on Mayweather at evens. I'm going to take as much action as he'll give but I'm not hopeful it'll be much... $100 so far. Hopefully he gets bold and takes much more.

Feels good to book a winning session at 10nl! First of many on this stake I hope.

Also finished Bear Gryll's book, definitely worth a read!

Now onto some random free book Amazon sent me, interesting so far but to be honest I'm enjoying my non-fiction more than anything right now.

Great session today, ended up playing one 6 hour session and really happy with the result. Stake now overall in the black again!

Fun weekend with friends, good night out on Friday and went to the racing yesterday. Spent most of today being hungover and playing poker.

Mid week update.

Getting some sessions in around work, never easy to play great volume during the week as I'm usually shattered after work. Hopefully some developments in that area in the near future but I'll keep that on hold for now.

A couple observations,

1) I tend to lose more in the mornings before work. Probably because mainly grinders on at that time and I'll have less of an edge. My mind probably isn't firing on all cylinders either.

2) The longer the session, the more likely I am to win. Fairly self-explanatory I guess, anyone +ev in the games is more likely to win in the long run. Thinking about making sure I'm playing when I can get a longer session in for my mindset. I know it shouldn't matter whether the individual sessions are wins or losses but if it keeps me in a good frame of mind all the better.

Regards, all the best at the tables guys.

GL! Either you start work late or get up insanely early! How can you fit sessions in then?

Any plans for a live shot?

I get up for work at 5:45, get home at 8, generally in the office 7-7. Slacked this week as feeling a bit under the weather.

I would love to play live more but I would need a backing deal, I have a great online deal at the moment but they don't look at live staking. I'd be interested in hearing about anyone who does though as I'd love to talk through opportunities.

hey, found this thread cause I used to live in London. Am a bit confused, you are playing 10NL online? yet in your first post you've got thousands of pounds in cash, saying you play $2/5..

shouldn't you be at higher stakes? didn't read through the whole thing, so I don't you your situation.

heard the London live games are soft, wish I were back there to play.

Yup, I paid off all debt I had after uni and am now grinding a job in London just to make rent! My aim is to get back into the live games in London and am using playing online to keep my game sharp and build some credible results.

London cash games are great as is living here. Not complaining about life at all! Just long hours at work and an expensive lifestyle...

Depends on which games you play in London. Thankfully most of the Casinos are in areas with tons of Pub and Clubs so you get a fair amount of drunk idiot traffic on weekends (myself included )

Yeah I wouldn't bother playing before work, the recreational traffic just isn't there. Plus, with the long hours as well, it's better you play when your completely switched off from work. I work from around 8-8 and I always play better when I've come home, had dinner, chilled out and maybe started a session around 9ish. Games are usually around their peak softness around then too.

Pretty much agree with all of the above! I really enjoy being drunk while playing but willing to forego that to be a better player!

Subbed.
I'm doing a challenge myself starting next week. Similar to you I have a full time job, but pretty much live like a nomad now in an airbnb place because of the job. I am on a job hunt+poker challenge and in fall I'll also start uni, so a lot going on right now
GL!

Thanks for the sub and good luck with your journey! What's your poker background and what are you going to study?

Well I have started playing since I finished high school 5 years ago. I was an occasional player up until mid 2013 when I started playing more. Was a fish in the beginning but started studying some strategy and got decent over time. My passion for online MTTs is indescribable and I had some nice results but I kind of failed at going at it full time, because I started playing too high buy ins without setting goals or planning ahead. Combine that with negative variance and you get a nasty outcome. Now I am concentrating more on finding a job that fits me better and grinding cash games. I'll definitely play tourneys again someday but that's long-term planning.

Details to my challenge:

I am going to study informatics and hopefully be damn good at it Life and Poker in London

What's your educational background btw? Is it related to your current job?

Ha, my education... Did A levels in maths, physics, chemistry and Spanish. Decided that naturally led to a degree in politics, now I work in recruitment. So yeah, no reasonable thread through that at all!

Yep....That's pretty standard though. Anyways let's don't start a conversation on educational systems. That could get long Life and Poker in London

Weekend update:

Good weekend, felt like I played well and got solidly into the black for the stake. Hopefully I can carry this forward and build towards moving up!

Outside of poker the weekend was a good laugh, Chelsea won the league and a couple good nights out. Bank holiday over here in the UK so have Monday off to sort my life out and play some more poker!

Been reading Randall Graves thread in PGC, it is honestly a fantastic read and I think everyone on 2p2 should read it as inspiration to improve their lives. I'm going to do three things each day, however small to improve my life in three ways:

1) Career/Financial
2) Health and Fitness
3) Poker

Making these three little things a part of my daily life should really help me live a healthier and happier life.

I went for my first run this year, only a small on but it's something!

Will update this thread with how I get on but I'm hoping this will be a real positive change in my life.

Been off the tables for a couple days, taking a break, will be hitting them up today! Met up with BenaBadBeat this afternoon for a drink. Nice guy and great to meet another 2p2 player! If you haven't had the chance, check out his PGC thread, loads of great hand discussion etc: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...015-a-1402975/

Quick non-poker update! All going well here, been super busy with work and had our first cricket league game this week. I'm not a player myself, I had my first ever game last year in the league and have played 6 or so since then. Managed 20 not out and took two wickets but we lost unfortunately, 6/9 of our team hadn't played before and I'm hardly experienced! Really enjoy playing though and looking forward to playing more and hopefully improving.

I'm not going to politard this thread up but the UK election results couldn't really have been better for my friends and me so we couldn't really resist a bit of a celebration...

Yes I'm aware they're not actually downing the vodka... At least not right off the bat. Partying has seemed to calm down a bit recently, focusing a lot more on work, poker and my health which will hopefully pay off in the long run. Big week of work and poker ahead, had my mid-year appraisal at work and they're happy with how it's going and want to keep me on for the foreseeable future. I have applied for a Live Reporting Blogging job at PokerNews however and am looking forward to seeing the results of that, although I'd be lying if I said I was hopeful of getting it, however, if you don't ask, you don't get!
