That crap with the sisters in the boat, wtf.

Once again they decide to adapt something based on the source material , but decide to tinker with that material till it's not recognizable. If they had remained true to the books , this thread wouldn't have many complaints.

Though I have to LOL @ the buffoon complaining that zombies can't bite into human flesh. That has to be the worst case of movie nitpicking ever seen. You have issues if you can't even buy into that.

Pretty much all of the lame elements that people have complained about are not present in the comic books .. what a surprise. No friendly gangbangers .. no T-Dogg , no Merle , no token hispanic couple.

T-Dogg ?? Really ? Someone read the comic book and said " we really need to add some color to this camp. Let's add a black character called T-Dogg! " And he wasn't fired from the staff immediately ?

Reading the books you never get the impression it isn't racially diverse enough. Watching this tv series though and it seems they've gone out of their way to include every racial stereotype and it's obvious.

I'm watching the show only to see how much they decide to butcher a good story.

Preview for tonight's ep: They head off to the CDC for some reason.

Yay , another "change" from the book. Can't wait to see where that's headed.

First half of the ep did nothing for me. The show, the actors, they just don't have the chops to pull off deep heartfelt moments. Got better in the second half.

I love the old dude. The glare he gave Bad Sheriff guy was ****ing excellent.

Completely agree about "the stuff they changed from the comics turns out to be the stuff that sucks".

On the other hand, there's some things in the comics that would wind up being too cheesy or over-the-top on TV, and it'll be bad if they DON'T mess with that material.

Liking the CDC guy. But if it's just a "oops turns out he got infected from the acid/zombie-flesh accident, and now he's trapped inside the CDC with all our survivors! Gawrsh, time for crazy zombie hijinks!" thing, I'll be disappointed.

I tend to agree with this but at the same time I feel like this episode got awfully Lost-y all of a sudden, especially the ending.

Edit to add I really thought Morgan was going to show up in this episode. There better be a damn good reason he isn't sticking to the plan of turning on his radio at dawn to debrief with Rick.

My only nit to pick this epsidoe would be them not handcuffing or tying up the sick guy Jim.

I can understand not having the stones to put him down, but restraining him would be super standard.

Also, just leaving him to become a zombie is about the cruelest and worst thing that can be done at that point, both for him and for any people he may kill in the future.

More concerning the changes made so far. Hopefully they'll encourage some ppl disappointed by the series to pick up the books instead.

In the books , the zombie attack on the camp takes place after the guns are retrieved in the city and most everyone is packing a gun , even Rick's kid. It obviously still wasn't smart to not keep a guard but it seems to make more sense in that context. They were complacent and overconfident because they had secured weapons and had trained in their use. The attack also has more impact in the books because everyone is there and armed and the zombies still manage to kill some people.

And to those who mention the stupidity of being next to a large city. By this time in the books , before the attack , Rick has already suggested to Shane that they should move because zombies in the city will be looking for food. Shane disagrees and it becomes a source of tension.

Most every change made for TV seems to dumb down the material needlessly and make it more PC.

Haven't read your post to check, but you should maybe put the specific plot points from the comic in spoilers. It's fine to say that there are serious differences, but people actually interested in reading them would probably prefer not to know exactly what they are.

It's the best TV show ever.

If people are wondering why the 1st episode was so much better than all subsequent episodes, it's because the 1st one was written and directed by the best director of all time in Frank Darabont, while the others were not, so obviously that episode is going to be better.

The first 30-40 minutes of this episode were not a waste at all. Jim's bite and the blonde killing the other blonde to get over her mourning were powerful and insightful parts to the story. If you want to see people running around all day throwing axes at zombies or whatever then turn on your xbox and play Left 4 Dead or something.

Do you people actually like anything in this world, or do you think life is more fulfilling when you just hate on everything to try and seem cool?

I don't really care what they changed from the comic series. I've read some of it and it's barely above average at best.

This.

That episode felt pretty terrible for something within a 6-episode season

If I thought the show and it's creators (lol @ Darabont as best of all time) were capable of pulling off something more than badass zombie wrecking, I'd welcome it. So far, those have been by far the best elements of the show, and every attempt to do something deeper has fallen flat.

Life is more fulfilling when you can engage in a critical discussion of something without halfwits crying because you don't fully embrace their "best TV show ever".

I know, I know, it's nitpicking, but there was some extraordinarily slopping writing tonight.

So the Winnebago breaks down because it needs a hose. But, uh-oh, the bit guy is getting worse! So we have an annoying maudlin scene where they have to make a hard decision and everyone cries about it....

and then everybody just drives off. Including the RV. The whole hose subplot is completely forgotten.
