the universe needs to gradually expand, it can't just be small pack of survivors vs zombies forever I don't think. though I do think that ultimately super zombies may have been more interesting than slow dumb zombies, b/c then you can have real battles between humans and zombies to split up the slower plot scenes. you can only have so many of these shooting fests/target practices

The worst part about the gangster stuff was that it almost seemed like a good scene at first. My initial thought was that they had some sort of badass plan that would throw everyone for a loop. After all, the plan couldn't be to just walk in with your two buddies and threaten 20 guys right? Right....? RIGHT?!?!? OH WHEW THERE'S A GRANDMA NVM CLOSE CALL.
The grandma thing was just awful awful television. That alone should cause every viewer to desert the show altogether but I'm going to give it one more week.

I haven't seen super zombies yet. Without them the show is going to become boring after the first season. There are only so many times that regular zombies can attack a camp. They need the zombies from "I am legend" to show up.

This level of nittery is just too much.

The blonde girl's reaction to being bitten was so LOL.

So in the previous episode when they cover themselves in zombie guts to blend in and walk the streets they had to cover their bodies so they wouldn't get the blood/guts directly on their skin because he said it would infect them.
Cut to last nights episode at the end when the sister gets bitten and is bleeding out everywhere, then the other sister decides it's a good idea to go cradle/comfort her when she's obv toast and gets her blood onto her skin.
My question is, is she infected after just being bitten? Or does the zombie effect have to set in before the blood is tainted. If the previous is true, then wouldn't the other non-bitten sister be infected by touching her blood? Thoughts.

I spoke on that previously. Seems like it has to infect you (get into your own blood stream). So, she should be ok.

** I was hoping that the [freshly bitten] sister would snap turn and bite crying sister's head off

I definitely could see it getting awesome and being interesting for more than 3 seasons however IMO the writing has to step it up big time compared to where it seems to be heading right now.

Yeah. Plus, you need interesting characters. Which characters are interesting right now?

I can see how the racist's brother, the asian kid, the old bearded guy on top of the RV and the black father and son from the pilot all *could* be interesting characters. No one else is remotely compelling right now.

So did anyone get enraged when the latino gang attacked the korean and brother redneck? Given the apocalypse world status or whatever, would you have shot them or at them? Wonder what the other "good guys" would've reacted to that.

In zombie apocalypse land survivors fighting for food and supplies would be very common and probably as big a threat as the zombies themselves, you'd have to be ready to blow people away to have a chance.

First five minutes was pretty good actually, I liked how they followed the blood trail and discovered ****ed up zombies and the iron the redneck cauterized his wound with. Gangstas with hearts of gold was definitely outta control dumb. And being what, 10 miles from downtown Atlanta? Surprised the camp wasn't killed earlier by suburban zombies from Alpharetta or something.

Show is still tight but I had to literally fast forward through that scene with the homies. So cringe inducing.

And I haven't read through the thread yet but I'll be (I assume) the 50th person to wonder wtf the blonde girl is still hugging her bitten now dead sister and everyone is just watching her waiting for her to get bitten.

One last thing, didn't it seem like about 10 people where bitten in the camp attack scene? It reminded me of LOST when they'd gather the ppl on the beach and suddenly there were 20 other survivors you'd never seen.

Anyway heads exploding onto the camera

Opening scene with the sisters reminiscing and talking about fishing knots was really really bad. The interaction with mexican gang was also cringe inducing once it turned into a fairy tale and it was clear nobody was getting shot. This episode was so much worse than the other 3 I can hardly believe it.

But I still see some potential for next episode. Hope somebody puts a bullet in the head of the ******ed sister and we see a lot of action. If it doesn't pick back up I'm done watching.

I agree with the nittery about how terrible the characters' survivalist sense seems to be, such as the extremely vulnerable way they've set up their camp and how they fail to supply themselves intelligently.

I don't really get the intense hate for the opening scene with the two sisters, or the faux Latino gang vignette. Not sure what the problem is, really. The first is just two characters conversing and sharing a moment in a more or less normal manner and language -- there's nothing great or terrible about it, it's just sort of generic and adequate. And the second also seemed fine to me. Group of remaining hospital workers plus patients (plus a few local toughs/relatives) put up an intimidating front against dangerous outsiders. Maybe it's not the most inspired piece of fiction ever, but I don't see why it's a joke either. Is it because it strikes some of you as a cop-out that tension was defused without gunfire and casualties?

As for the matter of the cartoonish and racialized depiction of some of the characters, I find I'm mildly aware of it at times, but given the genre I can't be bothered to care that much.

And whoever mocked Old Man Sentry for quoting Faulkner around the campfire needs to gtfo!

Anyway, I'll keep watching with mild interest.
