pretty sure me and any of me and several friends who are in the 10-12 range would bet just about whatever in a 2-man scramble against a +2.

I know me having my own 2-ball scramble is better than two people, but I'm def gonna be under par on 18.

you could also mix in the 'birdie and move back a tee, bogey and move up a tee' variant. or just play from different sets of tees depending on the course and how far he hits it.

For those still awake, the Jack HAMM Hammer X infomercial just came on Golf Channel. Man this is great.

"What do 460ccs do for you really?"
"The Hammer X obsoletes the cc clubs"
"It's basic e=mc squared"
"This club feels like the old persimmon driver!"

I hope at some point I can acquire a Hammer X the same way I acquired the original Hammer: By giving $10 to some kids at the range who found one in a garbage can.

Pretty sure I overpaid, but once I saw that it was the HAMMER, I couldn't resist. Of course, it only works if you scream as you swing.

I love how the infomercial should be 8 seconds long by Jack saying "this is why you see so many players on tour using it!!! Oh wait." Then a wah-wahhhhh sound effect and the infomercial is over.

So the LPGA tour ended and the leaderboard was -16 down to -11 on the first page. At the bottom it says "Notable - Cheyenne Woods - 5"

JFC. Stop. Just stop.

racist ban.

I mean, she's not notable in any way other than Tiger's brother ****ed some lady and she came out. And massive LOLs at 8 people being bunched together from -11 to -16 and they list her as "Notable" at -5.

By the way, thank you to whoever that was on this forum (I want to say lok2thabrain) who gave me a putting tip. A while back I notice my left-to-right putts were always passing below the hole (not enough break). I never felt like it was actually my line (I'm a pretty good line-reader - just a bad putt striker). So he told me to try moving the ball a little more forward in my stance on L-R putts (a couple inches or so). I did this and basically ever since doing this I have seen dramatic improvements on L-R putts. He also said on R-L putts put the ball a little back in your stance. I also do this a little but the effect isn't as drastic as it is on L-R breakers. Keeping the same line but striking the putt a little more forward than usual does wonders for starting it on line pure. Before when I had the ball just slightly ahead of center, it would just come off the putter kinda weak and begin breaking way too early.

Anyway, kudos to whoever that was.

Looking at this years list of winners it really surprised me to see the lack of difference in 1st place money from tournament to tournament. Greenbrier Classic winner... 1.2M. Masters? 1.4M. I was always under the impression purses for Majors were significantly more than what they actually are.

Anyone know the ways to find out about tournaments in your area/state/region besides calling the actual courses on the phone? I'm so eager to play in events

Is it worth it to upgrade to Addict+ on oobgolf.com? I track a lot of stuff during my round (putt distances and I write down every club used on each hole, for posterity). I estimate my driver bombs based on noticing where the tee marker was that day and looking at shrubs/trees/houses, whatever landmarks I can then measuring on Google Earth.

Had the most frustrating golfing weekend. Last week I shot a 93 with at least 10-12 strokes cause the inability to hit short pitch shots. Took a lesson Friday for my short game, but it was absolutely pouring the entire 2 hours. Was a great lesson. Well I get to the course Saturday, and I FORGOT to air out my shoes, gloves, grips. Everything was soaked. Put me on total tilt from my approach shot on the first hole when the club slipped and I snaphooked my 6 iron. Probably shot around a 115. Same course as the 93. I thought this was finally gonna be the day I break 90. Nope wasn't to be. Just wasn't to be.

Are these competitive events or like handicapped? You can quickly find all of your state and regional golf associations websites that will list their tournament schedules but these are generally scratch events.

yeah i did some digging and basically there seems to be a lot of qualification processes and stuff in order to be invited or w/e. i guess my best bet for now is just local golf tournaments that are open to anyone. just want to get my feet wet, really

Golfnow.com is ridiculous. I can play golf with a cart at $30 courses for $12. Unreal. Why ever go to the range when you can just play golf for a few dollars more? lol. Houston golf is cheapville.

Tune into the Lorena Ochoa classic and I'm sure they'll show her a few times. She's got a tight little body and a very athletic swing.

Central Florida used to be the same way. With high heat and humidity they almost have to pay people to go out on the course.

Boston's one of the worst places to be a golfer.

Yeah, I mean I played at 3:52 and it was obviously brutal out there but it doesn't bother me that much. The cart helps a ton and as long as you lather up sunscreen all I have to do is wipe my hands before I putt. Big deal. And drink 4 waters per 18. I'll gladly use up those sick low rates. The guy I caught up with today said he drove in from 25 miles away for this same deal. lol. He lived well south out in the country (this was already in the south burbs as it was).

Pretty pathetic that golf is this cheap down here and there are something like 192 courses in this city that are open year 'round and I still manage to be a 27 handicap. Don't know how people up North have like a 5 handicap and stuff.
