Im at my lowest handicap ever at 0.7, I feel that I can't go lower. I've played golf for a looong time. I want a challenge and thinking of buying a lefty set and start from hcp 36. Anyone tried this? Would be pretty cool to have around 0/1 from both right and left

Anyone ever handicap scrambles to make it even? Lets say we have two 4 man teams and each player has an established handicap but Team As sum total of handicaps is 15 lower than Team Bs. Was thinking something like 40% of best player on team's handicap, 30% next best player, 20%, and then 10%. Then using that as the team handicap for stroke play. Seem reasonable?

Now that would be badass. 0.7 is really good and all, but I'm curious as to why you think you've maxed out.

Any recommendations for golf in the DFW area? I'll be there Thur. & Fri. and was looking to play a round or two on one of those days. I'll probably be staying in Arlington (going to the Gold Cup matches at Cowboys Stadium and also headed to Six Flags), but will probably be hitting up the IKEA in Frisco while I'm there. So preferably something near one of those two places.

Looking for pretty much anything that's a good value. Under $35-40 with cart would be highly preferable, but I don't mind splurging for something really nice.

I live in Frisco. It's an hour away from Arlington so I haven't been there much. Not sure how far away it will be for you but Texas Star is awesome and on golfnow.

I've been injured so haven't been around much to see exactly what kind of conditions the courses in Frisco are in. If you're playing afternoon I highly recommend spending a little more and playing The Tribute. It's $49 after 3pm on golfnow.

DM me for more info if you want.

Texas Star is fine, personally don't think it's anything special. Decent value. Tierra Verde is a nice course in far SW Arlington south of I-20.

Agree with spending the little extra for The Tribute. Is fun sitting in their pub after the round with a pint or two.

Cowboys Golf Club is simply awesome, but it costs an arm and a leg, $100 minimum but that includes all food and non-alcoholic drinks you can stuff in. If you are a true Cowboy fan, it's a mecca with all their Super Bowl trophies and what not in the building.

One of my best friends made an ace during the member guest this wkend.

Wins two golf trips (one to TPC San Antonio and the other is of his choice for a package at a group of Fairmont resorts (Banff, Bermuda, etc).

No details on the trips other than airfare is not included. Hope they are both for foursomes so I can be included.

i never post in here but i believe i may have mentioned before that i was thinking of chipping one handed from here on out.

i have officially made the switch permanent. i get some odd looks from time to time but most people just find it "cute."

i'd say that for 18 holes i've shaved 5 strokes off my game by eliminating the skulls/chunks. considering that i was ready to give up the game i'll take it.

You chip with your front arm or back arm?
MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread Quote
07-22-2013 , 03:26 PM
back arm. my practice swings with two hands are fine. it's just that when i try to execute the actual shot i just completely spasm.

and it's not that i'm a great chipper now. i'm just "decent" which is a huge improvement from GOD F'In AWFUL.

and i do this for i'd say shots up to 35-45 yards.

i've only tried this once in an actual round though and sucked but that was strictly because i knew i looked like a jackass and it totally threw me off.
from this thread:

can't believe it took me 4 years to pull the trigger.

also, it's amazing how dumb us golfers are. for instance, guess what the cure to this problem was:

you'll never believe it. wait for it......

Spoiler:
i now hit the 3 wood on hole #1 and NEVER slice it. brilliant, i know.

Buy a six or seven iron and take it from there. I bought a friend of mines' daughter a lefty PW and she refuses to touch it. I want to learn to swing from that side of the ball........ but haven't actually done much about it.

I've only played 10ish rounds and 10ish bags of balls this year, so you probably have alot more golf time than me.

You won't have any speed starting out, and nobody you play with will want to play with you while your stoked about shooting 97. I'd wager it ends up being primarily a range exercise.

Thanks for the suggestions (but I'm a Saints season-ticket holder, so I'll pass on Cowboys Golf Club). Looks like The Tribute is only $39 twilight on weekdays (not including Fridays), so that's good.

I feel like learning to swing halfway competantly left handed and carrying 1 lefty club (9i?) for odd lies with obstructions might not be the worst idea ever. Probably wouldnt save you any strokes but could def see it coming in handy from time to time.

Been discussed in this forum before, I say there is no way in hell it is worth it if you're complying with the 14 club rule. I've hit a ball backwards/lefty once on the course in my golfing career.

Good video. The only thing I do differently than Eric Seidel is keep the ball closer to my back foot, as opposed to the middle of my stance.

I'm sure this has been done before:

What's in your bag?

Driver
3W
3h - PW
56 degree
60 degree
Odyssey Putter
Scotty Cameron Putter
Umbrella

yea, 14 clubs and an umbrella. I'm thinking of eliminating a putter and adding a 52 degree wedge, but I'm pretty comfortable with my wedges now and have a very good feel between 50 and 120 yards. (my 60 degree goes exactly 80 yards - full swing).

Really? I've done it 3 times in one round.

Doesn't speak highly of my accuracy I guess ...

Why would one choose to carry 2 putters?
