Right. Isn't there a pro on the web.com tour that chips/pitches using only 1 arm?

don't know. i was referring to the fact that i chip/pitch exclusively with one hand (not really a brag).

One of my good friends I play with has 1 arm. He usually shoots about 100-110 and hits the ball pretty far. He is missing his right arm and plays with a lefthanded stance, his backswing is probably way too long so he is wild as hell but his 7 iron is about 160 and I'd guess he hits his 3 hybrid (longest club he hits) 210 yards.

The guys that actually only have one arm will have a ton more strength in it than your average person simply because they take care of all their everyday tasks with just one arm. They will also have a lot more control and it will not feel awkward or like something is missing for this reason. Comparing someone who is used to using both hands and arms for everything to someone who never gets to use an arm or hand because they don't have one isn't straightforward.

I was definitely telling him to work on his short game to score better. The side effect might be to improve some fundamentals.

Many 20+ handicaps constantly take 3/4 shots to get down from 0-30 yards away from the green when they should be taking 3 max, and 2 often.

With my long game I'd be a mid 20s if I couldn't scramble!
My point wasn't about score. He wants to improve hitting his irons. He will get better at hitting his irons if his small swing and impact stuff is more fundamentally sound.

Of course his score will get better. If he just wanted to lower his handicap, working on short game is the best way to do it. I was merely addressing his concerns of "how do I look when i swing?" He didn't ask how to score better. Just about his irons.

I'm totally with you on this one!

If I saw an advantage of learning something from doing this I would consider hitting some balls this way at the range.

Hey experts, how much does ball really matter? I use Callaway because of price, and Iike the way the logo looks on the ball. Also have a bunch of hats, but am I losing anything not using a ProV1?

You're losing spin around the greens. If your handicap is around 20, as I think you've mentioned, it probably makes very little difference and is not worth paying a premium for.

Plus you already have hats to match your ball. Lets get our priorities straight.

Pick up to 3 2+2ers with whom you would most like in your golfing group.

The higher the handicap the less it matters and vice versa.

dumb but necessary question: my old 5 wood (18 degree loft) had the square back like this:

it broke and I am trying out a new 5 wood (18 degree loft) that has the traditional curved back to it. I used to be able to get decent loft w/the old square back club but I can't get any decent loft w/ this new club. The distance is about the same, I just hit lower line drives and get a lot of roll w/the new club which will be a problem when I need to clear traps/water, etc. Is a squared wood more conducive to getting loft or do I just stink w/ this new club? thx for any help

I don't normally drink when I play, but I'd join you in the drinking. Would have to stock plenty of Dr. Pepper for BO, though.

Would be fun with EdBratz, watching him hit 5 irons to 12 feet and talking about his 26 handicap.

BO and ARC in the same group would be similar to a Tiger Sergio pairing.

Seriously though, I'm glad everyone included BO in their group.

We should auction of a round with BO, and the money going to charity.

Please say I'd be playing the role of Tiger and not Sergio. Please. Pretty please. Hell, I'll even eat at Perkin's the night before.
