Greetings,

I am just hypothesizing here, wondering what would happen if due to the DOJ's actions, that people from Canada, Europe, Australia, Asia, etc., are not able to get their money off FT, PS, etc.. The DOJ is bound and determined to obtain a certain amount of money in fines and to totally shut down these pokersites. If they succeed at doing so and non-Americans lose their money and livelihood because of these actions, could there be any possibility of them taking legal recourse against the DOJ?

I mean, the DOJ has no right to freeze a bank account that contains my money or any other non-Americans money.

Thanks

quick answer - won't work

long answer - research jurisdiction, standing, governmental immunity, prosecution immunity

If their request to freeze a bank account in your country is granted then it will be your country that approves that request.

Jesus the posts here keep getting dumber and dumber. Yes they have every right to freeze and hold your money if it was obtained through illegal means and you most likely obtained the money from two sites who were operating illegally within the US.

What right do they have to seize the assets of drug dealers?

I can't believe some people are really this naive. Go ahead and sue the DOJ for your $1K, see how that works out for you.

I would love for the DOJ to prove that my money was obtained through illegal means. They couldn't so I have no problem there.

If FTP or Stars received funds from non-US customers through legal channels than it is not /discussion.

Keep believing that, it might keep you warm at night AFTER the DOJ seizes the accounts those funds are in.

Remember in "The Godfather" when they knocked out their competition in Las Vegas just before making their move and taking over? Same deal.

There's no longer any need for a blackout period. The foreign competition has been taken out. Now all that remains for the U.S. corporations to do is spread some money around D.C. to get it legalized for them.

It's just business.

Have alot on FTP (nearly 40k). I havent seen any remarks from FTP like the "don not worry, your funds are safe" that PStars has released.

Any thoughts on if players like myself are going to, at some point be able to retrieve our online $? Possibly via check or whatever...

I e-mailed support asking what they thought the best course of action would be - I don't have a ton of money on their site, and have never requested money via a wire before, but that's what I want to do.

How do I go about setting up a wire transfer?

This is a horrible event, but this had to happen to get the real legalization push. Now it will be no holds barred to legalize and regulate online poker. Which imho is good b/c the online poker status quo was crap anyway with basically nothing but nits.

It's not over....I mean yea we can't play at the two best sites anymore...but there are other sites out there you can play at....I'm playing right now at Pokerworld

There HAVE been remarks about not worrying etc. (incl. officially) But I can't see how this can guarantee anything, since they wouldn't come out and say "you're ****'d". But according to the huge majority of solid ppl, chances are looking ok...

Anyone have any thoughts as to what, if anything, might happen to individual players, especially in Washington State? Are their names going to be revealed somehow and action taken against them?
04-16-2011 , 01:42 PM
Anyone know what sites us Americans can play on?
