Very weird as NC is one of the last places I'd expect for this to happen, as people here generally seem happy to have no rights
Also in NC - I got the PS update this morning but still can't play. Tried ring, MTT, and SNGs.

Should I be worried that the latest news on the Isle of Man's Gaming Control Website(where stars is licensed) is from June 23, 2009?

What odds are you laying? I'll take 10:1 on a good amount of money although it'd have to be escrowed with cash/bank xfers and not poker sites obv. It's definitely a real possibility we never get money back but lol at trusting some random on 2p2 who has no insider knowledge at all.

The U.S. and ICANN owns the .com, .net, .org top level domains. All FT has to do is register a new domain name (fulltilt.co.uk , fulltilt.******, etc). The U.S. has no authority to shut down their SERVERS, but if they screw up DNS resolution, it in essence prevents people from reaching their servers.

How they are able to freeze their bank accounts in foreign companies is beyond me, I am scratching my head on this one.

I don't know if it will help, but I have sent the following to friends who have no particular interest in this subject and are likely not aware of what is happening. If we can get some non-players to help, it might be worth the effort.

"I have no idea if you follow this issue, have any interest in it or what your position is. But, the FBI has seized the domains of the major Internet poker web sites. This is the final straw in a long series of events put in motion by the social conservatives. It started, in a legal sense, when they sneaked financial processing prohibitions into the Port Security Act. They could not get it passed on its own merits (or lack thereof). Over the past few years, the AG has taken ever more aggressive steps and it has finally gotten to the point where a sixty year old man with a Master’s degree (Me) is being protected from myself and basically being deprived of what has become a second source of income during a six-year period when my “government” employer has not given pay raises and forced days off without pay. All this while the government not only allows, but promotes a lottery which requires no skill and is pure gambling. Go figure…

Anyway, if you have the time and inclination, I would appreciate it if you e-mailed your representatives a note of protest concerning this matter. If you support the government’s position or do not want to involve yourself, I fully understand.

Thanks for listening to my rant"

This has been going on for years under both Democrats and Republicans. The Bush administration did not enforced the Gaming Control Act. Obama did this to make $ period. This is the Southern District of NY. It has nothing to do with Obama. The law it's enforcing (or that the money laundering was skirting around) was passed by a republican administration. Pull your head out of your ass.

The UIGEA was attached at the last minute, to a bill on port security back in 2006. This is a sad day to a patriotic American like me, who enjoyed responsible gaming and entertainment in the form of online poker. Sure I am upset about my money in the poker accounts, but even sadder is the hypocrisy of our government in the "land of the free".
Casinos, Lotteries and Horse Racing are all heavily taxed and therefore are "acceptable" to the government.

Off Shore Internet Poker are not able to be taxed therefore are the work of the devil and must be wiped out to protect us.

So its not that one form of gambling is worse then another, just that one can be taxed and one cant.

no more poker stars for real money in the U.S.

what a joke! i absolutely despise the federal government right now

who cares if i want to play in small stakes poker tourneys on Saturdays from my basement in Cherry Hill, NJ

FU feds, you suck the big one

P.S. i paid about $35,000 in just federal income tax last year & still owe the feds about $10,000 more, in my book, that earns me the right to play poker online

+1
there is absolutely no other reason. If they cant get there hand in there and take 30% then its illegal. Im not sure how people can be so naive to think that they are actually looking after the people they represent because the fact of the matter is they are only looking after themselves. but if they were actually looking after us then it would be the first time in history. Someone if befitting from this end of story.
**** the way the government works... PASS THE FAIRTAX and do away with the old tax codes.

If you do take your chances with the wire transfer, please post here your results. I can't decide whether to try a wire transfer or not.

Perhaps the foreign banks have a US presence and want to continue that and are willing to cooperate with the US on these things?

Has anybody reported a successful cash-out from Stars during last 15 hours? By successful I mean when money appears on your moneybooker or bank account.

It would calm my mind very much if people would start to report that Stars keep paying out to people as usual.

Is there any chance that this case will prove to be so cumbersome and costly to prosecutre that the DA's office will eventually decide "Why bother?" and everything will revert to the way it was?
04-16-2011 , 11:02 AM
This has been said in many other threads now, but as of today your funds are effectively frozen. You cannot cashout via any methods, play and real money games, or even player to player transfer.

I'm not freaking out too much since I believe in stars and at the same time I can't believe the government would actually keep our money. There would be massive protest. Freezing everything and returning money to players I can see. I could argue that my remaining roll was money deposited before UIGEA.

That said, when I can pull my roll it's all coming out until things are regulated.

Wondering if there will be updated, "how dare you steal my money" versions of these form letters soon. Of course we can type in our own.

Imagine if the FBI indicted Wells Fargo tomorrow. Would they prevent every citizen in the country from withdrawing any money from their bank?

No, the DoJ is looking to seize / get in fines of some 3 billion dollars by most estimates.

I cashed out at Pokerstars yesterday an hour or so after the crash, via check, got the email comfirmation, and my Pstars account balance wend down to zero. Today I thought that was probably stupid, and so canceled the transaction, still pending, while, I thought, I had a chance, and the $ was returned to my account. I don't know if this was the right decision--It probably doesn't make any difference either way--but I feel better being able to see the $ somewhere.
