No that press release came out. The only thing that really worries me about it is they forgot to include a sentence assuring their players that their money is safe.

How does the US government seize a domain and website that is not located inside of the USA?

I would have thought that they would have just blocked the domain from being viewed/accessed by Americans?

A company in Isle of Man has a website and people in France view it. How does the USA stop that from happening without international cooperation?

“I am surprised and disappointed by the government’s decision to bring these charges. I look forward to Mr. Burtnick’s and my exoneration,” said Mr. Bitar.
I have read this before. Not any of the others stuff though.

I can tell you that I just did an echeck request, and it processed, so I'll be sure to reply to this thread if I see that money in my bank account in a couple days.

Can't hurt to try though

So, are we all going to fight back now? Will we flood message boards with our opinions, flood Congressional offices with letters and phone calls, and flood our friends' and families' inboxes with emails telling them to do the same?

I'm all-in. Who's with me????

I don't really care about the fraud charges. If PokerStars and Full Tilt go down, so be it. The absolutely critical battle is, of course, the charge that running an online poker business is illegal. Hopefully, one of those accused will fight this charge with unlimited resources and competent counsel. If they are successful in defeating the DOJ's claim that internet poker is contrary to law, then new companies will crop up immediately to fill the void.

There may be a period of time where the number of sites is extremely limited, but with the issue of the legality of the internet poker now apparently teed up, I think it's quite premature to say this is the end of the road.

I will be. Already hit it up on my Facebook page and am going to bitch incessantly, even though I haven't played a hand of online poker since January. This is BS.

TE, this has got to be a horrid day for you. Rest assured that lots of people still support you.

Time to lawyer up Pokerstars. They should have enough money to have a world class defense. If OJ got off, you might have a shot.

somebody post the PPA links so I can email everyone. I know there was a PPA site with the letters already written out to send my reps...

Geez. IF we happen to win a legal battle it will not be won swiftly. Did you not see that story about the Women vs. Wal-Mart case that was argued before the Supreme Court a few weeks ago? That was ten years in the making. The wheels of justice turn VERY slowly.

It's amazing. People are still saying that new companies will always crop up. How hard does it have to get to play, and how tight do the games have to get, before people stop saying this and start bitching loudly to their congresscritters?

Yah, echeck sounds nice, but I never used that option before. So I would fear using the mail check, than not being able to do anything with it.

Their processors were seized according to the indictment, so wouldnt be too hopeful.

Did the government seize any players' accounts?

Yeah I didn't think they could do this yet. The Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act would give them power to do this but AFAIK it hasn't been passed yet.

I don't think it is going to hurt you. Be sure to take a screenshot of the cashier before you submit it, and keep the transaction records and confirmation emails. I hit the cashout button too on the slim hopes that my money won't be stuck in la-la land until the crows come home to roost.

I usually withdraw using e-checks, but if the DOJ is going after the processors also, is it advisable to withdraw? How will they process the transaction? Is it more likely the money could get seized by withdrawing?

It's been done many times before. Check out onsmash.com It was a hip hop site that put mixtapes up sometimes. It got seized a few months ago. It looks very similar to pokerstars.com right now.

I was thinking it might be best to wait until everything is sorted out. Any funds now taken out, will prob be tied out to whats going on, and it prob say that they paid you on pokerstars. So no clue what to do!!
