yeah, some countries are so backwards about that it puts new york to shame.

for france it's probably about protecting savate, no clue about norway, except i knew joachim hansen was from there and when he fought they'd talk about the ban. hansen was pretty awesome in those days.

RDA/Ferguson tonight a big fight

Depending on how 200 shakes out could definitely see Ferguson getting the title shot with a win.

Khabib tho

they'd both be deserving i guess

fight card has been pretty meh thus far - i've been switching to CFB and NBA.

Hopefully the main car is better.

hot take: if you've got a submission hold on but you've got a foot on the cage for leverage, the ref shouldn't just pull the foot off, he should stand it up.

#nocage

Yeah that seems shady as hell. Really looked to have an effect on Lamas' ability to lock in that choke

RDA looks a weight class bigger than Ferguson

RDA looking great, hopefully this doesn't hinge on that eye poke

RDA has had a pretty terrible 2016

Would give Tony the next shot over Khabib even if he flatlines MJ.

If Conor wins, he's probably going to look to trilogy Nate for the title and we'll get Khabib/Tony #1 contender anyway.

if nate got the next title shot coming off a loss to mcg that would probably be the craziest mcgregor effect we've seen yet

Not really tbh

Nate beat Michael Johnson (#6) who's lined up as a barrier to Khabib's shot and would've been 1-1 against the new champ with a finish and razor decision L.

I think Nate growing into a monster welterweight of legend is still the best.

Well he weighs 190 lbs at least on fight nights, so there's that.

He's a large lightweight or a small welterweight who was not competitive against natural WWs.

Regardless, the excuse of him being the smaller man translates to nearly every opponent Conor has beat. It's so lame. I'd respect it more if he stopped.

I was joking about Conor's claim that he didn't care what anyone said, Nate was at least 190 on the night of their second fight.

Got it. He is still talking about that. It always just reminds me each time how the second fight ended similar to the first, with the ref getting Nate off of him.

Because Conor is a hype train. His skill as a fighter non-withstanding, he sells tickets better than anyone in the game right now and the people that decide narratives will do what they need to to keep that going.

He took a fight against the #5 guy in the next division who was on 11 days notice as a stay busy fight and got submitted in 8 minutes. They move heaven and earth in order to give him a rematch which he wins 48-47. Then they immediately give him the champion of the division he's now 1-1 in.

In the abstract, that story is insane, but it's Conor, and he sells, so it all makes perfect sense.
