5 more of these and Maia might actually get a title shot.

I hope wonderboy gets the shot n beats tyrone & then we see wondeboy vs maia. Tyrone is a pretty bad matchup for maia, good fights tonight, pettis i think should go to bellator as he will never be a champ again, dude looks so slow n nothing like his old self ehh.

Can anyone confirm or deny my suspicion that Maia was bitten by a vampire in like 2013?

A bit out of topic but wow...

I have been watching mma since like 2000, so i guess when you have your nose in it you do not see really how the UFC expands but...

Rumor about F1 is gonna get sold for "only" 8,5 billions while the UFC got like more than 4 billions ?

Imo it just show how big UFC got in the last few years !
I mean like half the freakin F1 in such a short time...

Chael is Chael so grain of salt, but he mentioned that according to the people inside the old UfC that he was close to, the UFC sold for many times more than its typical valuation would've suggested. He said something like 15x, which is insane, but it mKes sense when you consider the UFC is still fairly niche and limited.

Doesn't surprise me. Sports teams/leagues are two things at once - they're a business with a cash flow that can provide income, AND they're a status symbol to show you're in the upper tier of ballin' billionaires.

The same thing happens with NBA/NFL/etc teams. They're sold for much more than the cash-flow-financial valuation would suggest. Because on top of being an actual asset, they're a rich person's status symbol and personal toy/fantasy.

A lot of the teams historically don't make much money. The key to the investment is the increase in value year after year.

that's my point though - it's not even 'an investment' in the typical sense. When a billionaire buys a 15 million dollar car, or a gigantic yacht, or a private island, they don't do it because of rational expectations for a positive investment return. They do it because it's cool as hell and they want to impress people and live the baller life. Sports teams are very much like that, in addition to being actual businesses.

right

atypical 'value' = demand>supply + lack of deprecation (which largely factors into demand)

the motives behind the demand is the nebulous thing that doesn't fit into normal evals

PP does audio/video kinda stuff for big productions. Hang around and you'll see him pop up in NFL threads, sometimes other sports like NCAABB, etc. Cool guy.

It seems as though Lawler vs. Cerrone is almost a sure thing for UFC 205. Obviously, it's unknown how Lawler is going to respond to getting brutally knocked out by Woodley in his last fight, but, in my opinion, while the fight is basically guaranteed to be spectacular and a likely FOTY candidate, I expect to Lawler to punish Cerrone and probably brutally finish him.

What do you guys think? And is there any way this fight isn't an absolute classic?

Edit: Apparently, they are trying to make McGregor vs. Alvarez for this card, too, but there are still some potential snags, from what I read. If this goes off, though, are you guys picking to win this one?

Could easily not be a classic, if Lawler RDA's Cerrone. Def a great fight to make though, and could be great

Can't believe how few UFC fights are booked right now.

After this weekend, Hendo/Bisping is the only title fight booked. The MSG card doesn't even have a finalized main event yet and it is 2 months away?

Weird.

I was talking with by brother-in-law about this when I was asking what fights are coming up. Seems awful, I expect fighters want more than 2 months to train for someone.

I think Lawler would destroy Cerrone, RDA worked him and I can't imagine what a Lawler would do with his power.
