Well I'm gonna take a shot at number 4

doubt you find any laptop in that range that can run 2 30inch monitors. Most won't even run one.

Hey guys,

Thinking of upgrading to a 27" monitor and using my laptop as it's quicker than my desktop. Will that work? Is this monitor any good? Is there a comparable 30-32" for the money?

Thanks in advance.

I like Win7 Pro but haven't used Win 8. If you want to video game at all, get a Geforce card, but I guess a Quadro is pretty good for a 100% poker machine. Everything else is fine.

on my desktop i have a saitek eclipse 1 that has never had any problems at all. dont ever remember missing keystrokes and i played a bunch of games on it.

for mouse, personal preference is big, but logitech g500 and razer deathadder ive bounced between for like 5 years and they are both outstanding. first deathadder i got had a loose cord but got rmad quickly enough. g500 lasted like 4 years before its cord went loose. but great tracking and precision

Hi
I play heads up hyper turbos currently play 2 tables but will most likely play up to 4 in the future. Currently I have a 13" macbook air but I want to sell this and buy a windows laptop.
I dont want a really heavy laptop as I will be travelling with it. I think I would prefer a 15" but if a 17" would be more suitable for me then I would get that. Thoughts? Does anyone have any advice or recommendations for me regarding laptops graphics cards, resolution etc Also I want to buy a monitor and dont know what size would be best? Also am I right in thinking that the monitor will only display the max resolution of the laptop?
Thanks for any help

Would these laptops be ok for using with an external monitor?

how big of a monitor are we talking. Ports to hook up the monitor are the biggest issue.

MiniDisplayport should drive all screensizes.

HDMI probably only up to 1080p as it is unlikely they are using the newest specifications.

What size monitor would you recommend? or is it just personal preference?

I need to go and have a look at monitors so I get a feel for the sizes.

I have read that it is better to get 1920 x 1200 resolution is that correct?

Thanks

Best monitor to get for poker players is an off brand (catleap, monoprice etc) 27inch 2560x1440, they're $400-$500 but use same main components as Apple's $1300 ones. You do need a dual-dvi input on your computer though.

minidisplayport to dvi converter will work. Rare to find a laptop that will push above 1080p from the DVI port unfortunately.

I thought that the monitor can only display the max resolution of your laptop? So if the laptop is 1920 x 1080 is there any point in getting a 2560x1440 or am I wrong?

thats not accurate you just need the correct laptop and correct connections.

Is a 2560 x 1440 worth the extra price than a 1920 x 1200. I am from the UK so prices are different.

24" dell ultrasharp £215 1920 x 1200

27" dell ultrasharp 2560 x 1440

without opening the link: it is absolutely worth whatever the difference in price is. When I first got my 30 inch monitor in 2006 it was over 2 grand. I'd re-buy it in a heartbeat. (if lol poker still existed in Merica)

cool thanks for the info. Do you think 30" is definitely the way to go then as oppose to 27" or 24"?
They are a lot more expensive but if they are as good as you say then it will most likely be worth it. Also should I be looking to get a resolution of 2560 x 1600 instead of 2560 x 1440?

24" £215
27"430
30"£920

27 is probably fine but I've not had experience using them.

I've had both a 30 and the 27 inch (sick brag) and I don't notice the diff. Obv with poker people talk about how many tables they can fit with no overlap, but simply having more space means you can look at lobbies or itunes etc easier.

I actually have a Monoprice 27 incher I got for $350 and it's flawless with a 1 year warranty. All you miss out on is the bull**** like fancy color control and usb ports and there's an increased chance of a few dead pixels.

Since I was accomplishing this in 2005 with a low end laptop I'm going to go with: any of them.
