The specs are obv fine if not overkill, but I'd recommend a 2*4GB 1600MHz kit over a single 8GB 1333MHz stick.

thank you for your response. I'm a noob at all this. when you say it's an 'overkill' what would you downgrade then?

How do I connect http://www.dell.com/ed/business/p/dell-u3011/pd to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/p...roduct=5273910

I have a m/m dvi-d cord and then I bought a f/m dvi-d/hdmi, I cant see anything on the monitor its just all black and shows "no displayplay cable" even though I can hear skype sounds through it. Not to mention the max resolution I can choose for it is 1600x1200. Microcenter doesnt sell Dvi-d to vga. Will I have to buy a new desktop?

Hello. Planing on traveling next couple years and looking to buy laptop.
I`m not very good with hardware so would appreciate help here

I would like to be able to play up to 20 tables on up to 6-7 sites with HM2, TN1 or TN2, stack and tile, couple AHK scripts, music player, browser running without any lags. Also filtering different things in HM2 database fast would be nice too.
Also want to be able to connect 30" w/ 2560x1600.

Browsed some sites and found this laptop

ASUS G750JX-CV040H
17.3", 1920x1080
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4700HQ Processor (6 MB Cache, 2.4 GHz)
RAM: 16 GB, DDR3-1600 MHz
SSD: 256 GB (don`t know exact model)
HDD: 750 GB 7200 RPM
Video card: GeForce GTX 770M 3 GB GDDR5
has Mini DisplayPort - with this i understand that i will be able to connect 30" w/ 2560x1600 right?

is this laptop overkill for my needs? It costs about 2.4k $. I just want to buy something good that will work good for at least 2-3 years. And if this is overkill what specifications (CPU, RAM, Video card etc) would You suggest that i need?

Currently in montreal and need to get either a 1920x1200 or 1600x1200 monitor. I previously used a 1600x1200 monitor back in the us.

Im checking out amazon.ca and canada computers.

Which one of these would you say is the best option

Is the 1st and 3rd asus the same model?

Thoughts about the HP one? Worth it to get the asus 3rd link as oppose to HP one for $40 more?

You unfortunately won't be able to drive the 30" at its full resolution with your laptop. You have to have a laptop with a display port to drive the 30" full res. Try something like dell xps, samsung S, Leonovo mx or other retailer high end laptops. Desktop alternative is obv cheaper.

Got quick question. I will be purchasing one of these monitors and will be connecting it to my asus u45jc laptop. I assume whatever monitor i purchase, i will be supplied the cables so i can connect it to my laptop?

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16824236331

http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B008...A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB

If not, as long as i have an hdmi cable i should be good? I have an hdmi cable so that should be fine to connect it to the monitor? Also i heard there are 2 ways to connect a laptop to a monitor. HDMI or VGA cable? But isn't vga for older monitors and hdmi for newer monitors?

Because i used an old monitor dell back in the us and the way i connected it to my laptop was a VGA cable. Im not sure but could i have connected it to my laptop with my hdmi cable or are some monitors not possible for it? My old monitor back at home was a dell 2007fp.

Just want to make sure i dont need to buy any extra cable when i purchased the monitor online.

Also which one would you say is better? Asus or the HP one?

Thank you.

Well, I think I'm switching to an iMac. Are 30" monitors still worth something? I have 2 Samsung 305ts that were factory refurbished a couple years ago.

You still in your original location in Canada? Might be interested in at least one.

Is there no one here that uses a 20' monitor with 1600x1200 resolution anymore? I used a dell 2007 fp and loved it.

I bought an HP one 24' with 1920x1200 resolution from amazon canada and its huge and i actually prefer a smaller monitor. Would you say it would be silly to buy this one dell 2001 fp and have it shipped from the usa to canada?

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Dell-2001FP-U...2d5cba8&_uhb=1

I'm looking at this monitor now. I like this one b/c i use to use a 2007fp back in the usa and love it.

I used the site thefinalcost.com and put in the numbers. Do you know if its accurate such as putting the cost and then the shipping fee and then import dutie fees?

I put 49.99 for the price of monitor, 54.66 for shipping, then put shipping company UPS and province is quebec. The price come to 156.45 cad fee. Do you know if that is accurate? I also see 6.45 on import charges so its about 162.90 total? to me that would be a great deal for it.

Would this be pretty accurate? It would never be say 200 right? The person here seems to have excellent review and shipping even international seem to be fast.

Another thing is I absolutely hate about my 1920x1200 hp monitor is when i have 4 tables tiled... there is dead space on my screen to the left and right of it. With the 20' monitor that i use in the usa 2007 dell fp... when i had 4 tables tiled... it covered everything and thats what i loved about that monitor. I assume there is no way to change that on a 1920x1200 monitor?

Can't have a super fast computer without an SSD.

I don't need it to be the fastest computer in the world. I just need it to be fast enough that there is no lag while playing poker/running poker software. I will not be doing any other gaming besides poker.

Are you saying that you wouldn't recommend that computer for my needs?

I'm saying an SSD is the single most important part of a fast poker PC. Databases crush regular harddrives to dust.

Agree with DoGGz that you definitely need SSD for poker PC.
SSDs are not that expensive. Did some research and it seems samsung pro 840 256 gb is one of the best now for 200-250$.

on another note, any mouse recs? my deathadder just broke, before that had a g500 and an mx518 for 3 and 5 years respectively. using the same 518 atm, but it feels kinda small and the rubber is dying after ~10 years. considering the steelseries sensai (basically an intellimouse) but not sure if the size is similar. really liked the large-ness of da/g500
I had steelseries sensai and felt it was a little to flat (didn't sit high enough in the palm) and small. It moved nice and whatever.

Got a Razer Imperator and it's A+++, sits higher in the palm and is bigger.
