Noob here what screen resolution should I be looking for in a monitor if my aim is to ~ 8 table?

My laptop is Asus u45jc-a1

i3 m370 @ 2.4 ghz processor

8gb ram that is upgraded from 4gb ram

250gb ssd samsung that was upgraded last year from a 7200 rpm 500gb hard drive.

While playing 20 tables and running HEM2 and Tableninja 1, there is considerable lag. I also have tons of chrome web pages and also listen to music when i play. I would say the moment i hit close to 20 table is when the lagging is a big problem because i start sitting out in my tables though i do have the never sit out option for Tableninja. So many times it cause lot of hands to fold.

Im looking for a 14.1 laptop thats an i7 laptop. Reason is because 15.4' laptop always look a bit too big and bulky for me. Also i will be connecting it to an external monitor so the laptop size whether 14.1 or 15.4 shouldn't be any issue. Also prefer 14.1 because i feel its the perfect laptop size without being too heavy. Also I like a laptop that looks good, thus my asus one was a very nice looking laptop which is why i bought that one many years ago. I also thought at that time i3 was good enough.

Also once i get the laptop, i would then immediately replace whatever hard drive is in the computer with my current samsung 250gb ssd hard drive right since that hard drive will probably be a 7200 rpm hard drive? And also if it only has 4gb, then i take my two 4gb ram sticks and replace the new computer ram so i could have 8gb ram total like I do now?

Also is there a chance if i have someone do a clean reinstalltion of my laptop and wipe the hard drive and everything, then theres a chance my current laptop will be good enough to handle 20+ tabling with HEM2 and Tableninja 1 along with music and lot of tabs? Thing is I don't know how to clean my computer and make it faster. Because if i could then i would prefer it because i still like this laptop a lot especially the look of it. Or should i just upgrade because i7 is very important and i3 is not good enough?

From what i see online, is basically my only option for an i7 and it being 14.1 the two lenovos?

Thoughts?

Also im curious but what laptop size do majority of you grinders use? It seems like everyone has either a 15.4 or a 17.3 laptop. Is that correct? What im confused is if you have an external monitor connected to it, whats the point of getting such a big laptop size like 17.3? Even 15.4 i feel is pretty bulky.

YMMV but I find using Chrome a lot starts to bog my laptop down after a while. Closing and restarting Chrome often frees things up again.

I bought a USB to VGA external video card adaptor but the driver disk it came with was cracked so doesn't work. It seems to be a generic Chinese brand, does anyone know where I might be able to download a digital video capture card driver that could work?

1 ) Go to Control Panel -> Device Manager
2) Look for unknown device
3) Right click and go to properties
4) Choose Details tab and Hardware ID in the Property Dropdown.
5) Copy Paste Hardware ID in google to lookup drivers

That should work. If not you can shoot me a PM.

Can someone recommend a good 27-30" monitor (2560 x 1440) here in the UK?
I usually always buy the Dell Ultrasharp models but not sure If I am ready to spend £1k+ on a 30" one just yet. I've done a bit of research in the past couple of days but I am getting nowhere!

Everything seems to be 1920x1080 but 2560x1440 is ideal right?

Any help greatly appreciated.

A completely beginner question, I have an HP Probook 4520s and am looking to connect 2 external monitors for a 3 screen set up. My research has been in vein as I cannot figure out the configuration for such a task.

One monitor is currently hooked up via vga and I am wondering how to hook up the other (usb,HDMI,vga?)

Thanks for any help and sorry if this has been talked about itt, I looked and didnt find anything.

Thanks

If you also have a monitor capable of an HDMI connection you should be able to do that (or you can buy a HDMI to vga converter)

you can also get a USB to VGA (or HDMI or DVI or whatever) with an external video card.

I bought a cheap version of one of these from Aliexpress but I can't make resolution go above 800x600, lesson learned.

Hey everyone, need some advice and seems like this is the best place to find it. I read back some pages in the thread but still am slightly confused about SSD/HDD/HSDD.
I'm looking to get a laptop for pretty much online poker (4 sites + pt4) and some browsing. Seems from the thread that SSD is the way to go, but those are a great deal more expensive built in, even for the 128GB. Is it a decent option to buy an HDD laptop and a seperate SSD to use together? Or will running PT4 etc on the SSD part of an HSDD laptop work just fine?
Thanks for any help you guys can give.

Best way is to buy SSD separate and install it yourself. Most laptops have really easy access to the harddrive. You could probably look on youtube for popular models and find a how-to video. Or for a hundred bucks or so have a professional do it. Its really simple, just need to get the operating system installed anew.

I'm looking to buy a new PC to play poker (3-7 sites at the time), with a HUD and Table Ninja, search the web and be able to listen to Spotify all at once without any lag. I am willing to pay whatever a computer like this is worth as long as it works flawlessly. I am also very curious whether it's a smart idea to have a virus program or not. I have been told by several poker player friends that it is unnecessary and just makes your computer slower. Last, but not least I am also looking for a really nice keyboard and mouse to go to my computer. I already have my 2 27' dell ultrasharp screen monitors in place.

I would like to buy the PC ready-made and overpay a little bit for it, cause I have no clue how to put one together and don't want to put in the time to figure that out. I live in Finland and am willing to buy the PC from any website that is reliable.

Oh I forgot, one more thing! When I do get my PC how is the best way to keep it from becoming slow? What methods will keep it up to date and not let it become super laggy

Really appreciate your time and advice thanks

Well, I've always wanted to buy a rig from Falcon Northwest

It isn't cheap, but you'd end up with a super PC and laptop that just plain works and hopefully isn't something you'd have to mess with for years. I don't know about buying from Finland but I guess you'd have to just figure that out.

I think the most important thing you want is a computer that just works flawlessly and something you don't have to mess with, correct? That means the reputation of the company you buy from is very crucial.

I don't know finnish so finding out for myself would be tough, but what does google say about jimms?

Find a finnish or euro site that has a lot of people complimenting their service and reliability and has a long history of quality work and go from there. I can give you recommendations once you find the company you want to work with.

So my macbook pro resolution is (1680 x 1050), not 1900 like I thought. It's a 2011 15" with the addon high def matte screen.

Will this be OK with an external monitor, or is this resolution not high enough? I don't want it to be blurry if I get a 23" monitor. What I am asking is if my laptop resolution has to match the external monitor resolution. If my laptop resolution is less, will it look bad or even work at all at a higher res?

Here is the specs on my vid card.
http://www.gpuzoo.com/GPU-AMD/Radeon_HD_6750M.html

It says it supports:
Maximum digital resolution: 2560 x 1600
Maximum VGA resolution: 2048 x 1536

Should this be good with a 1920x1080 monitor?

Someone suggested me get this one because its 4700HQ as oppose to the u4500. They say its going to be noticeable improvement. But from what i read, it uses a lot of energy and it gets lot of heat since its 14'. Is that true? Thus one shouldn't get a thinner laptop as 14' or smaller because of this reason?

http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np2740-...su-p-6201.html

So right now im considering either the sager one or the lenovo y40. There seem to be few 15 inch laptop like hp envy 15 thats 4700HQ processor and it cost a lot less. Issue though is its big and bulkier which i dont like.

So would sager be my best option?

does mini displayport allow UHD? Basically asking what type of laptop could power one.

it does. u basically need to get a mini displayport to displayport 1.2 cord. accell seems to be a commonly preferred brand from what little poking around i did on amazon yesterday.
im not sure about what types of laptops could power one. it probably has more to do with what gpu ur laptop has than the laptop itself.
