my thoughts are you should def get a windows machine unless you really love macs.

because windows machines are cheaper and have more versatility with software you can run.

I can just chuck windows on though right?

but that would ruin the best part of a mac, the os.

and I'm not really sure how much success you'll have getting database software to work on that setup anyway.

does anyone use a evoluent mouse like this:

until recent i used the logitech performance mx (3 of them in 1y to be precisely), which i rly liked (ergonomic and good/biggish size), but its kinda instabil eg mousewheel stopped working after i slammed it a cple of times (lol badbeats)

so im looking for sth durable and rly ergonomic as i grind like 25+ tables and rly long hours

got myself this beast:

but have to say, altho its super-adjustable, that i cant rly find a setting where my hand feels comfortable (get "tennis-arm" way quicker than using performance mx)
also my precision seems to b way off w new mouse albeit it having much more dpi etc, is that just a normal process, which will improve over time, or should i look for another mouse? (wrt comfort and precision)

any help/input is greatly appreciated

fwiw i like biggish mouses w rly high sensitivity/dpi

Hey moertel,

Upright mice are the nuts. I used a fully upright one (an Accuratus one similar to the Evoluent one you posted) for a long time but the cable came loose and although it was really comfortable it was pretty poorly made and didn't last very long. Right now I have a pretty standard Microsoft wireless mouse+keyboard combo I got off Amazon, where the mouse is somewhere between a regular mouse and an upright one, and I don't get any wrist discomfort at all.

Would absolutely never go back to using a regular horizontal mouse, playing long sessions with those just killed my wrist and hand. I don't know the specifics about what's the best upright mouse to get etc but I can definitely vouch for their effectiveness. GL with it.

i assume u mean this one? :

how quick can u move w it? (read it only has 800 dpi), as all my tables are spread between the 2x 24s i have to move the x-axis quite often, which i percept as exeptionally tiring for my wrist (pretty much regardless of mouse, therefore the high sensitivity)

Yeah that's the one. I don't even really know what DPI is, but it's pretty clunky and not really very good quality. Can't move it very easily even though it's pretty lightweight. I definitely recommend an upright mouse, but I wouldn't really recommend that one specifically unless you really can't find another one.

why dont you just increase your sensitivity rather than relying on dpi for speed?

these would be my 2 favorite/recommended non ergo ones, looks like that cyborg isnt too ergo focused and i cant imagine its more comfortable than the g500 or deathadder

never understood the ergo mice but it seems like people who try them love them

I tried Evoluent and hated it. Rotting in my basement somewhere. I'll post if I find it and someone can have it for $hipping.

I love my Evoluent V3.
Been vertical mouse user for years now.
No more wrist pain after purchased my first one and using a horizontal mouse would feel really weird now.

I only have wrist pain when I have my wrist bent at a horrible angle. Try having your arm from your elbow to the tip of your thumb in a straight line while using your mouse. Should save your hand over the long term.

If that offer is still on the table I'd love to try it.

I'm just curious how many people here switch mouse hand regularly? I've had tendonitis issues for years and was forced to become proficient with either hand.

Wow that sounds difficult. I use my left hand on the trackpad sometimes tho.

It took a couple of weeks to get good at it, maybe a good idea for people with sore mouse hands.

I always have 2 mice in front of me. Currently Performance MX for RH and some other generic for the LH. Almost all RH use tho - prolly 95% of the time it's RH. The 5% LH gives the right wrist a nice break several times during the day tho. Been doing this for a few yrs now.

I had an upright Evoluent as my LH mouse for a very short while. Never got used to it tho. Mebbe I'll give it another try one day.

I'm looking for a new monitor with high enough resolution to 24-table tiled. I'm too big time to look through this thread though. Somebody point me in the right direction.

30inch monitors have the biggest resolution, but I'd say they tile 20 tables kinda comfortably.

got Samsung 120gb 840 pro couple weeks ago and have everything on it atm. Looks like it's already almost full(new database). Would u recommend just getting 240 or start moving things to hdd. How would you prioritize that? tyvm

anyone know if HUDs now work okay on laptops with ultra high resolution like the macbook retinas/google chrome? know that was a problem before- would be pretty convenient to be able to mass table on a laptop with tiled tables

Re mumis query i think ud be better off with pc for something like that, 27 inch plus hd monitor worked alrite for me but i bought additional graphics card accesory and it was a little slow at times
