Ick, I saw they did a 12,342 (roughly) 10-way chop sometime last year too. If I was in that spot I'd think 10K each and play out for the rest of the money with some extra for 1st-4th place or something would make more sense.

THR doesn't let u make deals and then continue to keep playing, so there's no chance of that

Unfortunately many of the USB chargers in the back of the room don't work a lot of the time for one reason or another. Best bet is to carry a charger that plugs into a wall outlet, there are two in the back.

I kinda regret the deal I made but agreed to a chop even though I was chip leader with about 4.4M (average was about 2.1) at 50/100k levels. Chop was 13.3K each and two guys gave me an extra $1000 and one guy gave an extra $1500 which I split with the other guy who had almost as much as me.

Earlier we all wanted to chop 13 ways for $9500 but they said they could only do the paperwork for 10 players not 13 so we kept playing. I knocked out 13 through 11th.

Shoulda kept playing but with my stack but not a bad payday for $150.

I always regret when I chop. I often regret when I don't chop. Always is worse than often, so I no longer chop regardless of the circumstances.

Punish the nit regs who have ten bbs and wanna chop. Period. Don't listen to the non sense when the chop birds come out, if you feel u can win, do it. Either way grats on the scoop def not a bad payday

So $13.3+$1k+1k+$750= $16k

That must have been about 2nd place money. With 10 left you never know. I would take that deal.

From the paychart they put out, looks like third place money and others got around fourth.

Don't remember the exact details, but I saw some flyer up at the desk this past weekend about a May promo they're running.

It's only for one week if I recall correctly, and only midweek, but amounts to about $4/hr in comps ($100 for 25 hours of play)

$100 in chips for 25 hours in a single week mon- thurs. High hand fri-sun noon-midnight $500 for every game except 1/1nl and 1-5 stud. They get 100. Both promos run all month.

Guess I better go ahead and hit bad beat ton ight while its still doubled.

The high hand on Fri/Sat has run until 3am, is that changing then?

Yes, back to midnight. The flyers for the promos are up now on this website.

I think thats a big mistake, btw. Ive definitely seen how lots of people stay the extra 3 hours til 3am due to high hand. On months they stop at midnight on weekends, lots leave at midnight instead. Id rather they ran from 3 to 3 than 12 to 12 on weekends

Can $200 be earned for 50 hours in a single week or will it be capped at $400 max for the month?

It's not really spelled out, but I'm guessing it's capped at $100/week, here is their pdf on the subject:

http://shrtpoker.com/wp-content/uplo...Earn-Poker.pdf

And I also agree that keeping it to 3am is the way to go. I know the 6/12 O8 game has run until 3am on weekends, to some extent because of the HH promo.

I'm almost positive they have chopped one of these before with more than 10 players. I think either the floor was misinformed or just didn't want to do all that paper work.

As Max said, its not clear, but I'd guess no as well. Interesting too is that last time they ran this, unused hours could carry over to the next week, and now it looks like they wont.

I love the promos, but only because I hit a $400 HH last month and a $500 HH this month, so I'm somewhat biased.

You are right I should have kept playing for sure. After the fact I realized I was probably an 80% favorite to make an extra 8K.

A couple factors were,

1. Certain players had reluctantly agreed to chop at 13 (even though we didn't end up doing it due to casino bs on the paperwork), then they didn't want to do a side deal at 11 either. If I keep playing and they chip up any then they might to play all the way and in 40 minutes blinds would be at 100/200K so if I said no deal, I might get a hard-ass saying lets gamble and not doing a deal when I decide to.

2. My goal was to chop once at final 10 or earlier if possible. So I didn't want to get greedy.

3. If I was in the other players position (i.e. short stacked after we all agreed to chop at 13) I would be real upset if I busted 10 for only $2500 after our initial deal that was verbalized for $9500 got shut down.

4. And you never know what might happen with the cards, I could certainly lose a hand or two and be average stack.

Anyway, next time I'll take my time before getting pressured into saying yes.

I can't fault you for taking the money, I did the same thing when I chopped the 2nd slick they did a while while back, but I needed to up a roll and there were other factors. Poker is Swingy, you can always lose a hand, become average etc, but with a 40+ BB stack that's prime time punishment mode when down to the last few. Either way, congrats again

I'm not sure what all the stack sizes were, but it doesn't sound like you got a horrible deal with a guaranteed 4th place payout out of the remaining 10 players.

I couldn't fault you, if stacks dictated it, for you waiting to see a few short stacks bust before agreeing to a chop.

Example:

You: Chip leader with 4 million
Players 2-4: Have between 1.8-2.5 million each
Players 5-7: Have 600-800K each
Players 8-10: Under 250K each

I don't think an even chop (or even the chop you got) would be in your favor at that point, and would hold out.
