I may be moving to Tampa in the near future. Do 1-2 (5 bring in) PLO games ever run there?

Very rarely these days. 2-5 is your only PLO option for the most part in this room (occasional 5-10, and even less occasional 1-2).

You can find 1/2/5 PLO at the Tampa greyhound track poker room (Lucky's). Runs several days a week, starting early afternoon and running into the evening. Usually 2 tables - a main and a must-move.

Here is a fairly accurate list of the cash games that run at the Tampa Bay area poker rooms:

(Anyone can edit this list, so make changes or additions as needed.)

Appreciate your replies gents. I def would rather play 1/2 5 bring in if I can over 2-5 plo.

I know this is a little off topic, but do you know where else in FL they spread lots of PLO games? I get an option to live anywhere in FL for my job and would be nice to be near a big city and casino where PLO spreads on the regular. Tampa sounds the most appealing for a mid 20 something

I just spent the last 5 years in the Ft. Lauderdale area and recently moved to the Bay Area and can confidently say if PLO actually effects your decision where you are moving to then Tampa is by far your best bet... Way more regular action here.

PLO runs in Sarasota, but usually higher than 1/2/5. Naples-Fort Myers has PLO pretty regularly.

BTW, "1/2/5" PLO around here is not "5 bring-in". It's 1/2 blinds and $5 mandatory button straddle. At Lucky's in Tampa, it's usually 1/2/5, but can be just 1/2 if a player doesn't want to straddle. You can also run it twice if the all-in players agree (even if it's just for a side pot). Most players do run twice, but a few don't. You'll get a lot more action if you do, but also a lot more variance.

Fify.

If you're thinking of moving to the Tampa area, keep in mind that poker on the west coast of Florida is extremely dependent on the season. Summer, the games are dead, winter the player pool more than doubles imo.

Yeah, there are no 1/2 5 bring in games. THR used to run 1/2 with a "mandatory" 5 on the button, but you can't run it twice in that game and the min buy in is too low for it, so people switched to 2/5 eventually.

Going to be playing regularly at the Hard Rock now that I moved a bit farther away from the other bay area options. Was curious on the early weekday play. Is there any 2/5nl selection as early as 9 or 10am? I'll have to check Bravo app before going I'm sure but if any regulars could chime in on the norm at these times I'd appreciate it.

Check the Bravo app, but I usually see at least one 2/5 game going that early. Don't forget your coffee...

I normally play the overnight shift, and sometimes lately the last 2/5nl table will break around 3-4am, but then the "day shift" guys usually start showing up around 7:30-8am and it starts back up. So I would think that by 9 on most days there would be at least one table of 2/5 going. But I'm not there that late very often,so others can give you better info.

When I used to go earlier, it seemed that a second table usually started around 11. But yes, there should be one going at 9 or 10. Keep in mind, these tables will suck the majority of the time, being populated by a mix of grinders and OMC short stacks. If you can find a straggler or two chasing their losses from the overnight, then you're in luck.

it's hit and miss on the overnight game lasting. It's the slow season so it's like 50/50 lasting overnight. The PLO games have been lasting over night killing some of the morning 2/5 games, but as others say check the bravo app

I recommend if you play 2/5 nl, 2/5 PLO, or 5/10 nl to buy in with mostly green, black or purple chips accordingly.

As of yesterday, the brush and dealers are not allowed to do a "color up" of any kind. Having too many red and green chips on the table slows down the game. There is always an abundance of red in play so there's no reason to buy in with reds, especially at 5/10 nl.

The last few times I have played, I bought in with 10 blacks, and then slowly converted them to the same number of reds before I left.

It's a different sort of strategy, but, hey.....that's just me.

Cashing out that $50 instead of punting it is pretty good discipline lol

I just saw these games (among others) listed on BravoLive:

2-11 PLO 10 -1.00
1-13 Limit Holdem Half Kill - 3.00
2-12 Mixed - 0.60

Could someone explain what these are?

Just saw that too, looks confusing but I'm assuming jus various mixed games, the 2-11 plo might be 2/5 holdem plo mix or something like that.

Best time to try to get it going is around 5 pm IMO. I think if we can get it going at 5 it has a good shot at going through the night.

I'll be there tomorrow night after class, usually for the tourney but if the 5/10 is still running I'll do that instead.

There's always a list made in the day time but it never pops off, I'm sure if ppl make the effort tomorrow yall can get it going.
