Was there tonight, went to the desk to talk to the person there about the comps. Was a bit confusing so I'll do my best to explain...

On Jan 2nd they wiped out any comps older then 60 days, in my case around $300 worth, I went from having $500 to having $200. The way their system is setup right now they were able to refund around $285 worth, which was any comps from Nov 2nd and older that had been wiped away, I now have 60 days to use those comps. As for the ~$15 that was lost that would be any comps from Nov 2 and later in which the 60 days is over, in this case around two or three days worth. It would continue that way using the oldest first, so if I had taken no action today I'd still be losing comps daily based on the 60 rule despite the refund, since the refund was added back today it has a fresh 60 days, but also means that would subtracted from last which means I better be blowing through the whole $500 in 60 days or less. Today I added $50 to my card to use, which should at least prevent losing almost a weeks worth over the next week.

This is obviously a big improvement over them just stealing the comp money. But it still kind of sucks. Players shouldn't lose any or the "never expiring comps" that existed before Jan 2nd, in my case around $15 that is now gone, not a big deal money wise , just principal wise. Nor should they have to rush and spend the comps earned over a year in such a short time , 60 days, when it's not even as if they have a gift shop to use them.

What Parx should do is implement their new policy, buy adding any pre 2012 comps in a separate category that don't expire, or make it one year or something reasonable. Then maybe pay for one night out with a parkette just to make up for the fact that they even conceived this notion to expire all that comp money and think they could get away with it.

Can anyone tell me the quality of play at the 15/30 limit game? It seems this game goes nearly 24/7, I can only get 3/6 live at Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh and I was wondering if it worth making the trip. Thanks!

Varies with the players. Usually a fun game. I wouldn't say it goes 24/7, but it's always running from dinner into the late morning, and it starts even earlier on weekends.

Boycott Parx.

Maybe they are going bankrupt, since they can't seem to afford to honor most comps that have been earned.

Their true colors as a dishonorable casino have been revealed.

Bankrupt is doubtful since they are very successful according to PA Gaming filings. Assuming it happened across the entire casino and not just the poker room, I would guess that the total comp balance was growing rapidly and players weren't using them. Where can u use huge comp $$$ at PARX? Some finance guy thought of a solution without realizing the backlash.

They are the most profitable casino in the state. They want to become even more profitable.

People seem to be complaining about a dearth of places to use comp dollars. Why don't you guys go to Parx Grill? It's no Barclay Prime but it is way better than Chickie's or the Noodle Bar. You can order a bottle of wine and have a big steak dinner with a group of friends if you truly have too many comps backed up.

Is parx grill in the main building? I think many people don't want to leave parx east and there is also no store to spend comps at. At many casinos there is usually a few stores where you can buy an ipod, or some kind of merchandise etc... with comps where it would be much easier to spend and useful instead of having to blow $500 on food just to use them.

I have like only $50 in comps but that's my complete speculation.

Glad to see they are trying to do the right thing, at least at this point.

Not really though... The right thing would be to reimburse EVERYONE, not forcing you to talk to a floor person to get your comps back. They just saw the backlash and are trying to quiet it down a bit. Still scummy.

I think you're right, however there may be technology issues that could prevent them from doing a blanket credit back of funds to folks. Perhaps someone just deleted everyone's account balances, and it would take a manual one by one review of every account to reinstate the balances. Rather than do that, they are just letting any active user request the comps back.

It is possible... I am wondering why Ari has been so quiet on this issue in this thread? Seems unlikely he hasn't seen peoples responses

In today's world a company with any level of basic technology knows what the comp balances were and can get them back into players' accounts. Especially a company as highly regulated as a casino.

Until we get further clarification from Parx management, it appears that Parx saw a big liability on their balance sheet and they thought they could get rid of it and thought/hoped no one (or not many) would notice. Not right imo.

I also agree with the poster earlier about the ridiculousness of having to ask permission to get your comps even last year. It is just like getting permission to go to the bathroom in grade school. Maybe they could just give us a key attached to a huge wooden board when we go to redeem our comps at the noodle bar.

He's being quiet because he likes his job.

what bothers me is that this board represents i'd say less than 2% of all parx players (east and main building). even if everyone of us that post and troll here reguarly go and ask for our comps back parx has essentially stolen 98% of all total comps. even if we want to be generous and call it 90% (accepting a % of non-posters complain and get there comps back) it is still ridiculous and wrong. the recreational player was bent over without the courtesy of a reach-around.

zrap, thanks for doing the legwork.

So what is the easiest thing to do?

1. Walk up to desk
2. Ask them to please restore unused comps from before Nov 2nd?

Yes, I did it last night and had all my previous comps put back on. It only took a few seconds.

I posted before about being really upset about the comps situation. Yesterday I had mine and my wife's comps put back on our cards (about $350)...it only took a few seconds...no explanation required. While this is still annoying and it's gross that they changed the policy without telling us, I feel much better about the situation now. Some thanks to the Parx folks for at least resolving the issue to some extent.

I also had my comps put back on my card. When you are at the kiosk just ask the desk to your left if you are entitled to any back comps and they will check.

I felt I was entitled to more than just my comps back, so I asked for more... and got this year's Parkette calendar for my efforts. How'd I do?

I got $210 back on my card. I suppose I'm happy.

Ari,

Can you enlighten us as to when we may expect to see structures for the WPT Regional event ? Also, does the winner of the ME win anything special ?

WPT bracelet, entry to a larger tournament, etc ?

I am hoping that this is a much safer question then asking about the comp situation and will warrant a response.

TY

Is there a place in the main casino where you can get comp dollars put on your card to use?

At the steakhouse give the card to your waiter and tell them to call the poker room to charge your card. Not sure about Chickie's.

6-12 OE runs almost all day. 15-30 HOE runs during the week sometimes - it may run on a thursday night.

HOES may run from time to time, but it's not frequent. I don't think Razz is approved in PA yet.
