As a foreigner whose played a fair bit at Maryland Live and at MGMNH, I'm curious how the plot games at parx compare. I imagine there must be some players with extensive experience in both areas?

never played PLO… but what PLO5 games run here?

There is a 10-20 limit Big O game, with a half kill. AFAIK that is the only 5 card Omaha that runs. All the PLO games are 4 card.

They’ve started plo5 a couple of times but generally the plo games are 4 cards at this point except big o.

One day my 5-5plo table started talking about it and pretty much everyone was ok w PLO5 but it’s one of those things where no one wanted to start the new game. The floor was hesitant to start it as well.

If you can get and maintain enough players for it, they’ll run any approved game really.

I may try to get the 15 game to run some other day, maybe get some of the 40 players. Long shot, but who knows. They say they’ll give us half time or food comps or something.

Is Parx the best poker room for NY/NJ residents willing to commute a few hours?

I haven't been to Borgata since early March 2020. I once played there on long weekends at least 8-10 times/year. It was once my favorite room, not anymore.

I've been playing at Parx and have never looked back. By far the best poker room within driving distance, and that includes MGM National Harbor ( a nice room, but it feels like I'm playing in a college library), Maryland Live )which I consider a near enough second to Parx), and certainly all the NY State and New England rooms.

Parx is it.

the amazing thing is borgata had a 3 month head start on Parx when it reopened after covid and they managed to totally **** that up with how horrendously the room is run.

I spoke with a northeast reg that is a pro a week ago. He made it sound like parx big stax isn’t coming back. Any folks here know if this is true? I kinda can see them just spinning cash game profits for a while and not bringing back tournies sadly.

The northeast as a whole is a joke. Tournies coming back so slowly- think casinos are just realizing now that cash game profits are much better and tournys don’t warrant a profit over just running more cash games. Feel we won’t get good series at borgata or parx anytime soon sadly but I’m hopeful. Vegas it is I guess if you wanna play somewhere where they run a bunch of tournaments all the time.

I'll always look back fondly on Borgata pre-MGM takeover. The property was fantastic in every way. I missed Seablue when it closed, but other than that, it was all primo imo.

Parx is one hour closer each way for me, so it's a done deal. The room is just too good to justify adding another hour to the commute to go elsewhere.

I noticed on Poker Atlas that they have a 2-2 PLO game that "runs always". Is this game with a $5 bring in (similar to the 2-2 PLO game at Encore and some in New Hampshire?

Also how often does slightly larger (5/5 blind) PLO games go?

Thanks in advance for any help!

2-2 plo has no bring in… the open is $8

It’s 200-700cap buyin.

The 5-5plo runs daily and is 500-2000cap.

Tuesday is the day to go for big games

wrt tourneys, the current poker room is too small to run them. Would need to be in the east building, the old poker room. Not logistically as easy as it sounds, it hasn't been used since pre-covid. But there's always a chance they bring them back at some point in the future.
