20/40 last night had a qualifying hand. 99 vs. KK. Good thing the richest players in the room aren't in on it.

Actually, the BBJ is a losing proposition. I play 20/40, and am thrilled not to contribute that dollar.

I used to believe this until I went last night and saw what the current BBJ has done to the room.

Since 2/5 gets dropped at $100 has this mostly kept 2/5 and 5/10 players away from flooding 1/2 I'm guessing?

Should I expect many 2/5 regs still table selecting 1/2 anyways even w/o a high BBJ?

I play 10/20 and don't mind the dollar drop
It's great for the room
And at 100 I'm not counting the rake that closely
I'm all for anything that keeps Foxwoods number 1 in tables open
After going to Las Vegas and seeing how rare anything but NL was
I all for promoting this room

If the BBJ were always this high, I'd agree with you. But the other 90% of the time, I think it's a bad deal, both mathematically and in terms of its limited impact on the room. So enjoy this while it lasts.

Better odds to hit BBJ: 1/2NL or 2/4HE? (<-- Assuming there is there a drop for 2/4?)

I would assume 2/4 limit because it's cheaper for more people to play more hands that would otherwise get folded out at some point (suited gappers and such).

Yeah but at this point I don't think anyone is folding those types of hands at 1-2 either

Exactly. I got berated for calling a decent sized raise with 54 suited and flopped a straight and busting AK

Normally, it averages about $5000/24 hrs, higher after weekends, a bit less during the week. It's growing faster than that right now because of holiday week and size of JP ---> more tables running.

I hate this. Someone ever questions how I play my hand I just reply "I don't have to defend myself". Shuts them up and really grinds them.

I just mocked him for jamming his money in drawing dead on the flop

All right, someone posted all the bbj winnings dished out in the last two years. I got bored and intrigued by all those digits.

I'm not including the current jackpot.

2012 saw $3,481,878 in pay outs before taxes
2013 so far is at $2,260,200 in pay outs before taxes

This amounts to $174,094 in 2012 and $113,010 in 2013 going to the house as part of the 5% they keep. For a total of $287,104 that is leaving the poker room right there.

I googled around and I seem to think it's 25% tax rate on this kind of winning? Anyone know from experience here?

Assuming it is 25%, this amounts to $870,470 in 2012 and $565,050 in 2013 for a total of $1,435,520 going to uncle sam and not staying in the poker room.

With the 5% that Foxy keeps and 25% to the govt that is $1,722,623 in 2 years that has left the room.

Then who knows how much the winners of BBJ actually put back into the room. Probably a small percentage.

Not a good way of maintaining the room.

That's a whopping total of $98.32 per hour taken from the room, (split over whatever the average # of players in the room is).

Hardly noticeable, and the Benefits far outweigh the costs.

Not exactly. You can't use 1,722,623/(8765*2). One sec. Let me see if I can figure it out.

Because there's 70 days knocked off at the beginning of that list and at the back end. That's 1680 hours.

January 6 2012 is first hit on that list and October 22, 2013 is last hit. So if you want a number do that window.

12-30-2013 , 07:34 PM
So it would be $1,722,623/15850 which is $108.68 per hour.

"In theory", you shouldn't count the 25% going to taxes because:

1. Some of that money would be paid as taxes anyway via any winners that year (yeah yeah lol and all that, which is why "in theory" is in quotes, but it's supposed to be happening).
2. The money that doesn't leave the room that way is being passed back and forth on the table and grinded down via rake.
