Sorry Rhody but Encore still seems to be doing just fine

At this moment-- (Fri 9:00pm):

Encore... 54 tables running (no promos)

Foxwoods... 25 tables running (promo day: high hand $500/30min)

Mohegan... 15 tables running (promo day: high hand $300/30min)

MGM... 16 tables running (promo day: let it ride???)

So ya, almost as many tables running at Encore as the other 3 combined... and all of the other 3 are running promos. I think its safe to say that Encore is STILL the 800lb gorilla in the room.

PS for those that care: Chasers... 6 tables running (promo day: Quadzilla?)

No no no. Let’s use yesterday’s #s. Fw was only giving out $1k/every 1/2 hour but that’s just splitting hairs

no dog in this fight but there’s a difference between encore being the 800 lb gorilla and doing the business they expected. they are certainly the former, i have my doubts (opinion, no data) about the latter.

FWIW, when I was there on Thursday night around 9PM one of the Floors mentioned that "comps started working about 40 minutes ago". So I got a menu, ordered some food and paid with my Red Card. I tipped with cash. I have zero comp dollars from anywhere else, I've only played poker. I think he said it is only working for the Poker Room Grill at the moment but YMMV.

ETA: I still don't see any comp dollars on the website or when I put my Red Card into a machine.

This is so nice... I ordered food twice last night and none of the food runners mentioned it. I would've assumed they would want people to use their points and thus order more and thus have a higher bill = bigger tip but maybe they don't think that way. I know most of the food runners by now and I've asked them in the past and they seem clueless when it is such a huge thing that directly affects their pay, strange. The old 'I just work here why would you assume I know anything about my department' answer has always been my pet peeve in life.

Rooms dead - only 11 2/5 games and a coupla 10-20s going. Encores dead.

Also no one cares about the 32 1/3 games right? Just “how full or empty the VIP section is”

I know I should just PM jpsychlady directly but...

What's the O/U on whether poker comps will ever get merged straight into standard comp dollars which we can use for parking? Ecore wouldn't be the first casino to decide to keep the two comps separate and the poker ones hidden away to only those of us "in the know" (e.g. MGM). Any thoughts on the least -EV to get that "real" comp dollar value up downstairs in the pits?

I've been taking the T there on Fridays straight from work, but even with the best intentions not to hit and run and to grind it out, I don't quite have 4 hour blocks of time on Saturdays and Sundays right now and I often end up using a comp dollar for parking, and I'm down to all of three of them. I haven't paid real money for for parking yet, but the hustle is getting real!

Enjoyed my first Saturday night.

Played 1/3 for 3-4 hours....was up and hopped into 2/5. Game was good. Personally, my experience with the drink service tonight was totally fine. I heard people complaining but I got steady service. I’d say close to best level of service I’ve experienced in the room so far. The cage also moved pretty well considering the traffic.

Went to Red 8. I have to say, I felt like it isn’t as good as the one in Vegas but it’s really hard to tell/judge one meal when you’ve had some drinks and were mostly thinking about how you flopped trips when you opened 98 suited under the gun and stacked a guy who tried to slowplay pocket kings. I’d describe the dish as flat - just not as good I don’t know.

Had really good dealers tonight except for one who didn’t really pay attention. Her mechanics and speed were fine but didn’t officiate the action so to speak.

have been able to roll in with Starbucks consistently - don’t know if that counts as outside food but they don’t seem to care when I do.

Excited to try some tournaments when they start.

Tournaments are supposed to start next Sunday but haven't seen any updates on Poker Atlas yet. Anyone hear anything new?

The last time I spoke with a Red Card higher up, he said that there is a long list of things that they are working on and the poker points integration is fairly low on the list but it is ON the list.
You only have to play 3 hours to receive free parking Friday 5pm-Monday 5am. It’s free during the week for everyone, not just poker players.
If you don’t hit the 3 hour mark, ask someone who is either playing a long session(where they can feasibly get two validation tickets) or find someone who didn’t park in the garage and is playing more than 3 hours, and ask them to get one for you.

They don’t give out validation tickets anymore. You get the ticket you take upon garage entry validated at the check-in desk when you leave. (They do check that you’ve put in your 3 hours.)

Also, make sure you leave within 30 minutes of validation otherwise it becomes void.

any word on tourney guarantees? I'm sure it'll be rough for a week or two and hopefully they'll let it overflow into the cash tables if need be since I think they can only fit 12-15 tables in that tourney area. They prob wont have any guarantee at first tho no need I guess

LOL, I guess you guys are only going to post on Friday and Saturday nights about the busy room when it's a struggle to get 30-35 games running on the other 5 nights. See y'all on Friday the next time the room is busy.

Mod: I deleted several more personal attack posts.

I had hoped that you guys would agree to suspend this idiotic argument until the numbers came out (if not forever) as you had previously agreed to do, but if not, then once again let me remind you to follow the forum rules and avoid personal attacks and trolling.

This is your last warning. Future violations will result in temp or permanent bans.

30-35 tables is still 30-35 tables. And I would think every room in the country would kill to have that many tables going on a weeknight outside of the Commerce.

I went yesterday from 11-4 and was surprisingly impressed with the turnout given that it was week one of the NFL season. Yes, the Pats weren't playing until the evening, but still, I figured more folks would stay home and focus on their fantasy football numbers. That having been said, I did my customary walk-through of the 1-3 tables deciding whether to table select and it seemed like there were fewer stacks north of $1000, so maybe the football season kept the "gambooool" folks at home?

But big thumbs down for waitress and food service this time around. This poor woman next to me tried twice to order a drink and it never came. Then she ordered food, and it took forever, and when she paid and asked for change she literally had to chase down the food guy 30 minutes later to remind him that she was owed the $$.

And in something I'm not sure was more comical or annoying, this guy next to me ordered and sandwich and was taking his time to eat it. Room brass must've asked 3 times within 15 minutes if he was done in an attempt to clear it away. Yes, I realize they'd prefer not to have food and trays sitting there, but come on now!
