Got an email saying EBH Spa is open and CompDollars can be used there -in case the only other thing you would spend CompDollars on besides buffets is $3/minute massages

(I received a FB message a few months back from EBH saying they would convert poker dollars into CompDollars now)

Went there last week. Didn't seem unsafe at all in terms of covid. Plastic dividers were actually nice now you don't have to be near your neighbor. I could be wrong but I swear the VP paytables were terrible but maybe they were always that bad?

They made me pull my mask down when I walked in. They must have some sort of facial recognition software scan your face.

Yes it's just to get 1 good shot. They've been doing that since the beginning. Foxwoods makes you do that at the cage also even if just changing a $1 chip.

Best case scenario and there is some magical Pfizer vaccine and things go back to normal in April of 2021 in about 6 months. Have all the staff been let go since it will be 1+ year of no work? Does Encore even care about poker going forward, they made a huge commitment giving it prime space and making it a major part of the venue. I'm not sure how upper management feels after all this.

I heard from a encore table games dealer that poker may never come back. He also said they're turning the former buffet into a sports book.

IMO of the 5 major casinos in NE at best only one or two bring back poker. My money would be on Twin and/or Mohegan.

I think I'd prefer some consolidation actually. We were getting a bit fractured prior to all this with all of the rooms running and splitting the player pool and making some games harder to find and tournaments smaller.

Hopefully Encore is one to reopen, along with Foxwoods or Mohegan, not both.

Totally agree with first paragraph of previous post. My thoughts on Twin and Mohegan being the only one to reopen are because both of those poker rooms have remained physically intact (no removal of tables for blackjack or slots), they both seem most willing to reopen most parts of their properties, and in the case of Twin their pool of dealers remains intact.

If there is a great vaccine and everything goes back to normal in 18 months then eliminating poker is very sad because I felt like they were getting in the swing of having most things working well. It certainly takes a whole year for most any business whether it is a coffee shop or a laundromat, etc... to get anything up to speed. The staff were doing a great job managing the cash games and tournaments and it is a beautiful venue with nice clean bathrooms, cashiers, sign up area, space, nice chairs/tables/cards/chips, etc... I also think having a poker room in the city is great but man... this is depressing.

A majority of the employees associated with poker aren’t even there anymore, except for a few that transferred to other departments. Encore isn’t spending money to open their room again anytime soon

Poker was a losing proposition for the Encore from the start, given all the reductions in perks while the room was open. As long as nobody outside of charity rooms is offering poker, they lose nothing by keeping it closed.

I think it will reopen eventually, but it will be significantly de-emphasized. Probably be put in some corner of the main floor with 30 tables or so.

I think poker will return, eventually, after the pandemic ... and after they figure out that parking situation. Surprised about the buffet though.

While none of us can predict what will happen in these unprecedented times, the issue with them bringing back poker will be if another one or two casinos beat them to the punch (which is almost sure to happen) and their results are only mediocre what would be Encores' incentive to go through the process of reopening poker?
