OK, I'll be the first to say it. The state should force Encore and MGM to close for 2 weeks. The state or Federal gov't can compensate those who would lose wages due to this.
The need to slow down the spread is critical right now. Our politicians are doing us all a dis-service by allowing large groups to gather at this time.

Nightclubs, dayclubs, spas, restaurants, conference/convention centers, etc... in Vegas are all laying off people left and right due to business at anywhere between 5-25% normal capacity, would be horrible if things started to happen at Encore and/or poker room. I would hope a huge corporation with $ coming in from Macau can survive months of this.
The same way people won't social distance and self-quarantine on their own. Which is why in another week or so(hopefully sooner) everyone is going to get *****-slapped into a real quarantine.
Your health and well-being is our highest concern. That said, yesterday it was announced that in consultation with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, Encore Boston Harbor will be temporarily closed to the public for a two-week period beginning earlier today. Our casino closed at 4 a.m. and resort operations will cease at 5 p.m. today, March 15.
Please know that as updated information becomes available, we will keep you posted. You can also visit encorebostoninfo.com for related information.
We recognize that these are unsettling times and apologize for the inconvenience. We look forward to welcoming you back to our beautiful resort as soon as we possibly can.
We wish you and your families all the best until we see you again.
Many people need to be protected from themselves. I find it crazy people are still packing bars in Southie (millennials?). As long as the casino/poker room was open people will go and get their gamble on. I am not sure 2 weeks is long enough for this to work its way through our society. Boston Public Schools is closed until after April vacation the 3rd week of April to be extra safe and I think everything just needs to be shut down completely so go home and watch Netflix or read a book for now and do what you can to avoid getting sick or getting infected by sick people and become an unwilling transmitter.
Yes this is going to go on for months. Certainly not everything will stay closed for months, but 2 weeks won't be enough. Most places are just stating 2 weeks for now and will reevaluate then. I foresee extensions to the closings.
Personally, other than popping out every few days for food, I plan to be hunkered down for several weeks. I have the luxury of working from home though (the whole office is doing the same).

Much sooner than that with the flurry of announcements. Mayor Walsh just limited bars/restaurants to 50% of their capacity while removing tables to allow for social distancing.

I suspect that the idea of announcing two week shutdowns / slowdowns is intentional. Rather than announce that everything will be stopped for the CDC-recommended eight weeks, officials announce shorter closures with full intention to extend them.
The idea is to avoid or reduce panic buying, chaos, extra stress, etc.
Yes, it is a good strategy to minimize panic, hoarding, etc... I think it is despicable when people buy way too much than they'll ever use and others can't get some basics. I saw some senior citizens that were literally scared to go into the supermarket but had no choice but then got really angry when some basics like toilet paper and hand sanitizer were not available but at least they got food. Hopefully it will be rolling extensions.
Since we won't be returning to play anytime soon (5 months at least), let me be the first to come clean. It was me, I've crop dusted each of you. It was a tremendous risk, I almost shat myself 4 times, but well worth the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
trump just suggested no more than ten gather so full ring poker is ok.
and the new projection is that this will last until july….
world wide recession I
stay safe
