Looks like Encore is targeting June 29 for a reopening date. Whether poker will be back, I have no idea.

I would assume no poker for quite some time if they gutted the room. They're not going to go through all that for just a couple weeks of extra space.

That was couple weeks ago, unless plans have changed.

I mean, I know these how these companies operate also, things can change overnight just like that.

But those emails I seen, I was pretty shocked myself. Worried me they won’t return poker looking at the drop from those tables games up there. And just add a sports book up there once legalized, and booom suddenly poker is gone.

Sigh. I forgot all about the sports gambling. I really hate how my state drags their feet about anything.

It isn't going to be tons of money. NH estimated they'd make about $11 million per year. MA, with about 5 times the population would then be somewhere around $60 million. In comparison, the lottery generates about a billion dollars a year. When you add in there are going to be few construction/patronage jobs to pass around, there is going to be little interest by the politicians.

If MA government follows/exceeds the NH government, they will shakedown the brick and mortar Sportsbook for ~40% of the juice, right off the top.

The Encore Boston cannot pay the light bills on a 3% gross margin (60% of the juice) from a Sportsbook.

Sportsbooks are loss leaders for Casinos. If I was the Boston Encore czar, I wouldn't bother.
Sportsbook people are worse fleas than poker players.

If the Encore was reluctant to tie up parking spots for MTT poker players,
they sure don't want to tie up parking spots for the Sportsbook fleas.

Might've missed this reading the thread, but is there any indication the MA legislature is going to move on legalizing sports betting any time in the near future? It seems incredibly speculative for EBH to block off a large section of useable gaming space for use by something there's hardly a guarantee will be legal any time soon.

the numbers will show further decline however for 2019 CT received 47M from Mohegan and 38M from the Woods in slot revenue both down double digits from 2018.
both Casinos have begged the state to let them run the B&M as well as the on-line wagering.
not only has this state refused to act quickly they are doing precious little to protect these casinos and the revenue they provide.
the land of steady habits never ceases to amaze and bewilder
