Izakaya Monday's (not 100% sure if that's the right night) when they have the good and drink specials is awesome value. Wouldn't eat there and pay full price on other nights though.

Not worth getting up early in general for the 10/20 on a Friday. Even if it goes before 10, it's just the regs.

+1

And others have mentioned bread & butter, best chicken salad ever

+1 Bread & Butter, that place is the nuts. Can't believe I forgot about it. Very close to the poker room, and better coffee, too.

My favorite Borg burger is at the spot where Sea Blue used to be, 28 West. Unfortunately, it's only open on Fri and Sat.

$12, comes with great fries and is just across from the poker room. Solid comp deal. The Metro burger isn't bad, either.

http://www.theborgata.com/assets/PDF/28west_bites.pdf

Some of my other indulgences:

I must admit I do occasionally sneak downstairs to Fatburger for the Fat Fries (not the skinny ones, the steak size ones). With a few tubs of ketchup, man I'm set.

I'm not a big fan of NOW, but the Sa Cha Beef soup hits the spot for me. A little pricey at $15, but very filling. It's a little spicy, but you can ask them to tone it down. If anyone knows where to get something like this soup in NYC, hit me up!!!

I've noticed that on a few late Saturday nights, you can check out the pizza place downstairs in the cafeteria and scoop up a few slices at giveaway prices.

For a quick, somewhat healthier fix, don't forget you can get a smoothie from Ben and Jerry's. They actually use real fruit and you can ask them to put other stuff in at no additional charge. So I'll ask them to throw in a banana or some berries. Not bad for $6. When I'm feeling really frugal, I think they have soft pretzels for a $1 or $2, which might be the best deal in the whole damn casino.

Last tip: I always charge my room fees to my credit card. If you don't tell them at the desk, I think it defaults to using your comp dollars. If you're a black card holder, you know the value of the $10 buffet.

Love the food talk guys, keep it coming.

Everyone talks about Bobby Flay's which is not bad, I do like the spice. But the meat is not always that good. Old Homestead has better quality steaks. What you guys think?

But actually rather go to Ruth's Chris over both.... Wish it was in the B...

For red-card holders, the main buffet is a reasonable deal. Imo the quality has dropped a bit lately but is still good overall.

Hobbes, as a black card holder, why would you choose the food court over Amphora or the buffet for anything that costs over $10? I know many regs who go on break to Amphora. Also $1 > 1 comp dollar, so why would you preserve comps? You can always pay the cash equivalent when you're out of comps.

Because the buffet and Amphora are usually closed when I play and/or I like to grab a quick bite and don't feel like losing an hour to waiting on line and eating. You can't pay the the cash equivalents at the buffets for the reduced rate, if that's what you're referring. You can only use comp dollars for the comp rate ($10).

OK, thanks...must have mis-remembered about the reduced comp policy.

On the topic of burgers at Borgata, the Sunroom in the Water Club lobby has an amazing kobe burger. It's $17 but if you're paying with comps and planning on Fat Burger it's worth it.

More fun with the dealers last night....

Player A bets the river. Player B calls.

Player A shows announces pair of 7s, shows Kh7h for a pair of 7s on a board with a busted heart flush draw.

Player B looks over, and tosses his cards face down towards the muck. Before the dealer can kill/muck them, he grabs them back, shows Ah4h for a pair of Aces.

Player A says they hit the muck and are dead. Dealer has deer in headlights look. I suggest, along with at least one other player, that she simply call the floor. Floor is called, situation explained. Cards were identifiable and retrievable. Floor awards pot to Player B.

I agree with ruling, best hand at showdown won the pot, but Player A is tilting. Takes a walk, comes back and racks up. Players near B suggest in the future that he simply just show (table) his cards every time from now on.

Sounds like everything went how it should. Unless the dealer took a long time to kill his hand, he/she did nothing wrong.

While I do want to win, I'd hate to do so as a result of a technicality. If Player A looks back at it, he should have realized how dominated he was in that hand. And it obv could have ended much worse, if the river is a heart, then he probably gets stacked (or loses big).

I don't have a black card and have never been to Amphora, but I can tell you that just walking by the place is enough to make me lose my appetite. For some reason it seems to always smell like rotting crabmeat (I love seafood, but not rotting seafood). It must just be me, because there's often a line of people waiting right in the area where the smell is the worst.

I kinda agree and I go there every Saturday and Sunday night, but for $10 in comps, soup salad wine and desert it is the best value anywhere. Plus when they have ravioli or something basic it is good, also the turkey is good, but I agree the fish regularly suck but its better then the buffet food, just smaller selection.

last time i was there, my jack and coke was 90% jack. that makes the meal easily worth it

$10 Black Card

Buffet - Best value is Sunday morning brunch. All the good stuff comes out. Weekend dinner is next in value. Regular weekday is ok.

Amphora - limited food selection, but if you're looking for unlimited top shelf booze, this is huge value. Awesome place to be watching the football games drinking your drink of choice.

I ate there one it was solid, they must share bobby flays kitchen thus it has to be pretty good. Duck fat fries were legit.

amphora is only good for free booze otherwise the other buffet is better imo. If for no other reason the extended selection.

Both Buffets have imo, seen a quality decrease in the last 12-18 months. The shrimp in particular went from like size u10 to like u18. The steaks all look kinda blah too, especially the skirt steak they are always pawning off in amphora

hey, i have winter break in december from dec 18th to jan 13th. looking to spend it playing 2/5 + some 5/T at borgata. been insanely busy with law school so i've fallen out of touch with local poker buddies in nyc or borg regs.

anyway, if another reg wants to chop rooms at borg pm me or something. i have rooms booked for every weekend in that period (cept wkend before NYE and new year's day) just looking for someone reputable to split with during the week.
