Are poker players at the Borgata able to earn comp rooms by just playing poker? I play 10/20 limit at another AC casino and earn 2 comp rooms a week from doing so. I wanted to know if I can get the same thing playing enough 10/20 limit at Borgata, or do I have to play table games and slots for that?

Hey Stan--

Headed down tomorrow around noon for a 3-day stay. Will your daily tourneys run tomorrow or will there not be enough room?

Quad deuces or better beat; both players must use both hole cards. Qualifier is the same as all other casinos in AC at the present time except for the Taj, which is the last holdout for aces full of jacks or better beat with both players using both hole cards.

am i wrong?
I think it's in fact a common lack of knowledge. At least in my case that was, anyway. It took me a long time to get into the habit of checking out, and I originally learned about having to check out from 2+2. I like the system they have in MGM Grand much better, where you're clocked in and clocked out right at the table. I'm sure it's also much more efficient in other aspects as well.

We will go back to our normal schedule tomorrow at 7pm. The 11am morning tourny is cancelled.

I was wondering why I always had very few comp dollars - I guess I missed out on a year's worth of comps.

This should probably be posted somewhere in the poker room or something... over a year playing and no one has mentioned this.

Yes, this is a big problem in every room. I guess casinos think that if you don't know to clock out, then you're not the kind of player needing to be comped.

We have a "time played" based comp system. If we do not know how long you played, how do we know how to calculate your comps? We are not like table games (black jack, craps etc.) where they keep up with your win/loss and time played. Please remember to swipe out when you are leaving.

Not true. Casinos love for players use their cards and use them correctly. How could we market to you if we do not have good and usefull information about your playing habits. Saving comp dollars is not even a thought for us. We would rather be able to offer even more to you.

When you guys built the new poker room did you look at the tables where you clock in when you sit down and when you leave a dealer pushes a button and clocks you out automatically?

The requirements are stricter than this. Quads must be made with a pocket pair and aces full (Taj) must be made with pocket aces.

No idea if this will be a lot of people but i would advocate adding 4/8 and see how the traffic is before just eliminating 3/6 completely.

If you lose more players then you gain then it's bad to drop a standard game.

I don't know why but it seems to me every 5/10 LHE game in AC is always a bad game. Small pots and tight players. I have no idea why that is.

I think the NL boom killed these other limits
I totally agree.

AC limit poker is filled with older regs - AKA 'creatures of habit', who will freak out if their game of choice is eliminated. Dropping 3/6 would chase those players to either Taj or somewhere else.

I'm not so sure a 4/8 game would take off. I think Stan tried it out a few months ago, and it lasted a weekend. 4/8 would only go if the 3/6 game is gone altogether.

Yes 5/10 as a structure stinks. I'm not surprised that the 5/10 LHE game rarely goes.

Honestly, the NL boom killed all the low/middle limit HE games, and low limit stud.

Also, the 6/12 game was very good until most of the casual players (AKA fish) started playing 1/2 NL.

IMO, a 7.50/15 'pink chip' game would probably be a huge hit at Borgata.
But, I also thought the 4/8 HOSE game would be too...

A simple lower cost interim solution would be to get a card swiper at each cashier window with a small sign stating, "Please clock out to get your comp credits". If we could swipe ourselves out without involving cashiers that would be best.

Also, an interim idea on the tight spaces near the front of the room: you could try putting up a few "velvet ropes" to discourage folks from walking between those tight spots. Not an elegant solution, but it would help until tables could be moved a bit.

Yeah, in this economy they sure want to make it easier for you to remember to swipe out.

Eventually their tables will/should have the swiper with the dealer, like many other casinos do. So the dealer simply swipes you in, and presses a button when you leave.

Whay they should have is the self sign up kiosk. Taj has it, as does Foxwoods.

I don't see what is so complicated about the current system, I didn't swipe out my first few sessions at the Borgata but that was before I asked a floor man if you needed to swipe out (some casinos auto swipe you out when your seat is filled or table breaks). Just look for a floorman near a podium, it isn't hard to find one and while you are waiting you are still clocked in.
