I take partial responsibility here, but 2 dealers failed to inform me that cash does not play at NL. 95% of the games i play are LIMIT where cash does play. Occasionally if the list is long for my games i will play some 1/2. Following occured friday night at 1/2 NL table.

I lose some hands and am down to $180 or so, i add on for $100 (its probably 5 minutes before dealer change) I take out a $100 bill and place it under my 2 stacks of chips(unaware cash does not play). Current dealer deals 3 more hands or so and tags out.

New dealer comes in, play 2 hands and then the following hand comes up. Woman raises to $12, i 3 bet to $30 with KK, she raises to $145. I think, crap hope she doesn't have aces, oh well i'm gonna push cause OMG i have kings. I push in the 2 stacks and the $100 bill. Dealer informs me that the cash does not play. I am unhappy. Woman calls.

I admit it's my bad for not knowing the rules, however my cash was not hidden, it was easily visible. I would think at at least 1 of the 2 dealers would have said, "hey man cash doesn't play at the table do you want chips?" but neither did.

Brag: she has Aces, but i flop Quad kings.
Reverse Beat: river is an Ace, she has Aces full of kings, which at other casinos would have been the bad beat but not at the borgata.

And the kicker, after i win the hand the dealer says, "Do you want chips for that hundred?"

I say, "um... no, also i now have About $400 in chips in front of me, so i am pretty sure i can not add on to my stack." The hundred was never in play, so why would i now be able to get chips for it if i am over the $300.

Did the dealers think i just felt like keeping $100 on the table for fun?

Stan maybe in one of the daily huddles you just ask the dealers that if someone pulls out cash and puts it on the table at NL to ask if they want chips. I have been playing casino poker for almost 10 years, and as a LIMIT player i am used to cash player. I am sure not everyone knows this, especially new players to NL.
Thanks for your comments on this subject. Just want to let you know the reasoning behind the no cash on NL. There are maximum buy-ins that are not present on LHE games. We (Borgata staff and PLayers) can not tell how much cash you have in front of you. Unless it would spread out all over the table, no one could keep up with it. We just can't allow it.

I'd hit that.

Will the cage cooperate? Do they have any say in this?

No one's mentioned the 5/10 kill a la Foxwoods. Until recently that always went, sometimes 2 tables.

spent 4 days at the B and had a great time, came out a small winner mostly thanks to me flopping quads and getting paid off by a full house and straight.

Thanks again Stan for your help and your time

I'd be interested, and I know someone else who'd be up for it (he's mostly there in the afternoons, but some evenings and weekend time).

I think killing 3/6 and making it 4/8 is a great Idea but i think you will upset some 3/6 players.

This will make 5/10 players happy but upset 3/6. I think you will get a fair number of players who will be like WTF where did 3/6 go, and floor will say we play 4/8 now and they will say they don't want to play 4/8 and may go someplace else for 3/6. No idea if this will be a lot of people but i would advocate adding 4/8 and see how the traffic is before just eliminating 3/6 completely.

I know it seems like a minor change, but it is removing a very standard AC game. Imagine if one day all the 2/5 NL players showed up and borg said we play 3/6 NL now instead of 2/5. Some of the players would be like, ok cool whatever, others would say WTF and go play 2/5 somewhere else.

If you lose more players then you gain then it's bad to drop a standard game.

I don't know why but it seems to me every 5/10 LHE game in AC is always a bad game. Small pots and tight players. I have no idea why that is. I played 3/6 in the old days at the taj, moved to 5/10 and was like boy this game stinks, so i played 3/6 until i was ready for 10/20 cause 5/10 was such a bad game.

If you are rolled just for 5/10 then instead of playing 5/10 all the time i would play 3/6 some of the time and take shots at 10/20 until rolled for 10/20 all the time.

Somewhat related, but AC needs to bring back 15/30 holdem. In the old days you could play 10/20,15/30,20/40 and 30/60

Now they got rid of 15/30 and 30/60.

I think the NL boom killed these other limits but that's my wish, until i am ready for 20/40 all the time please to be adding 15/30 holdem.

If you don't clock out I think they only rate you for 1 hour of play.

I'm at the Borgata right now, and while its by far the best room in AC, something needs to be done about the 7 tables up front in front of the cashier. They are just TOO close together, if you're in either the 2,3,8 or 9 seats, you just constantly get rammed into by people forcing their way between the tables. There was just almost a fight between 2 older guys, and it is the 3rd one I've seen in 4 days here because of the same thing. I have 2 busted ribs right now, and people are just bumping into my seat or spinning it half around almost every 30 seconds, its just ridiculous now. Its annoying enough, but 90% of them don't even have the courtesy to say sorry or excuse me, and it leads to problems. And just as I'm typing this, another 280 pound jerkoff barged right through me and the guy next to me like were not even here, 3 people just got knocked into. It REALLY needs to be addressed.

I'm pretty sure killing hold em games is not allowed in AC - it is only allowed for Omaha I think. Maybe someone can confirm.

That said, I'm sure if they did the paperwork they could get it approved.

I can't see them ever killing a table unless the table had 8 or less, there was no waiting list, and more than half of the players could be seated elsewhere.

I'm gonna start an interest list for 5-10 and 10-20 O8 when Im there on Wed Aug 12th. Prob low odds on that running.

I shouldn't have used the word "killing" in my post because it has caused confusion. What I meant was the Borgata should get rid of the 3/6 game altogether and try to run 2/4, 4/8, 10/20, etc.

But, in the meantime, it would be a good idea to tell the floor manager at the podium at the entrance of the poker room about it.

Are the games spread in certain limits because of the casino commision or just because its the casinos choice? Also, what are you guys fighting about up there?

When we opened the new room in 06, we originally had stud tables in those sections. Needless to say we now have hold'em tables there. I will get with facilities to see if the tables can be spread further apart. Sorry i can't do it tonight but it will be looked into it.
