dealer is right. what the difference between a bet and a fold-muck. same guy still gets the pot without showing. as an aside, player not in the hand shouldn't be nitpicking rules anyway.

your right the guy wasnt in the hand but his point was that the two guys could do this all night without showing any cards and keep scooping pots

yeah, they could. i'd say more than half the hands in hold'em typically end without anyone showing. gotta pay to see em!

85chickasaw, I am sorry but u r wrong... no action is considered = action in most card rooms, and cards must be shown even if player is playing the board.

In Ny and NJ, men can use womens bathrooms and vice versa if the room is full or long line in their appropriate gender's bathroom. I do not know about other states. So in theory, largest event of Borgata open, first break 1300 ppl go on break, 1150 of which are men, yes they can use the women's restroom.

really? i'm aware of the equal action, but even then i thought a player in the hand had to request to see a hand. you're not allowed to muck? and if the other player mucks, and you're the only player left standing, you have to show? what if, after the other player has already mucked, he puts out a bet... then does he have the right to not show?

In looking at Stan's Live Game Reports, I havent seen mention of the 4/8 game. Does it run, or never really gains any interest?

I have seen it run once, tried to get one going another time. Parx runs them all the time.

time for a delayed trip report

i was down at the borgata all last weekend playing cards and had a great time in a variety of games/stakes. one of the highlights for me was the 3/5 NLH. for those who don't know, it's a 1k max game, whereas the much more common 2/5 has a 500 max. at first i worried that the table would be full of self-selecting strong players wanting to play deep. however, while i was there most bought in for 500, and it seemed to be roughly the same mix of players you would find in a borgata 2/5 game. so for me the only real change was i got to buy in deep and people almost never folded their SB in a limped pot, both good qualities for a game... and it didn't hurt that i ran like god.

i also decided to try my hand at 20/40 stud a couple times, usually while waiting for a seat in a different game. to my surprise, the myths about the game were quite false ("the game is extremely angry/quiet", "the average age is deceased", etc.). the game certainly consisted mostly of regulars, but the average age was probably under 50 and they were chatting away. also, at one point there were two women at the table, which i'm not sure i'd ever seen before at borgata. the game was definitely quite tight though; i think i observed about one three-way pot per hour, the rest being heads-up and rarely getting to showdown.

i probably logged the most hours in 5/10 NL, which was a pretty interesting game. i played a lot of borgata 5/10 in 06-08, and it was nothing like the super-soft action games i remember. however, i still felt the games were beatable. the regulars in the game are quite strong, but most of the time there were also 2-3 pretty big targets.

here's perhaps the goofiest 5/10 hand i observed. as one would expect, it was contested by the two players i perceived to be the worst at the table. UTG limped, and MP raised to 30 (unusually small raise both for the game and for the player). a couple players called in between, and UTG reraised to 130. MP then 4-bet to 300, everyone folded to UTG, who tanked for a while and called. the flop came something like K73 with two hearts. UTG then bet out for 300, MP shrugged and shoved for about 250 more, and then UTG went into the tank again (lol). he finally called. dealer pounded the table and turned the ten of hearts. UTG says "i got you" and flipped over TT (lol again). it turned out MP had AA with a heart, so he still had plenty of outs, but he missed everything and the TT guy scooped.

oh, and they got PLO going most nights. i played 2/5 some the first couple days i was there, but i got the feeling the game was built around me and decided to stay away for the rest of the trip. there were just some super-tough players in the game, presumably online PLO pros wanting to play live for a change.

overall, i was happy to see the borgata is still the nicest and best run poker room on the east coast (IMHO). thanks stan, keep up the good work!

I keep checking out all of the "new" poker rooms/casinos in the Mid-Atlantic (PARX, D. Park, Sands, Chester, etc), and while they may be a few miles closer, I keep coming back to the Borgata.

The Borg is still in a class of its own, second to none anywhere East of the Mississippi imo. The way the games are ran, the overall experience of the casino, the Open Series events, etc.

Keep up the good work.
